Just read the article!!!
Okay sports fans, I've thought about this a lot over the past few years, as have a lot of you. It's hard to pick somebody who fits the bill. While you don't want someone who is a pretty boy, you don't want someone who looks like he just killed a grizzly bear with his own hands. While you don't want a complete unknown necessarily, you don't want someone whose Hollywood persona is going to clot the character they're portraying. Whenver I see something with this actor, I always find myself wondering "Why hasn't this guy become an A-Lister yet?"
See, I'm not going to come right out and say his name, or plaster his face all over this article, because then people see who he is and make a snap judgement, and I would have to reason them BACK to an open mind, but if you read what I have to say first, perhaps you'll be in a better place to accept him. So let's go:
For starters, this actor is only 31, which is ideal as Cap will most likely be featured in 3-4 movies and that will be over an 8 year span or so. The younger the better, but still you don't want someone too young. You want someone that looks like they might be a soldier. THIS actor has actually PLAYED a soldier...TWICE!! One of those films featured him as a WWII vet!
Next there's the issue of screen presence. What made me really take notice of this actor was his subtlety. Typically he plays more reserved characters on screen, as opposed to hyper-kenetic freaks. In the second movie in which he played a soldier he was a great leader. He was all about his troops, but he was no puss either.
Next there is the physical appearance. He's not blonde hair and blue eyes, but if you're THAT narrow minded you wont be made happy anyway. However he is in good shape, a bit slim but I'm sure a trainer could fix that, and he's 6'2".
So as far as presentation, how would Cap be? Okay this is how I like to look at it. I'm a practicing Catholic, and proud of it. I don't push it on people, but if the opportunity is there to show my pride, I take it. I would have Cap act the same way, and show anger at any disrespect shown to the States. This part will be harder to nail, as it seemed like until Obama was made president, there was VERY LITTLE pride in America. Then there was this flashing moment where people were proud, but when they saw Obama didn't have the Midas Touch, it began to fade again. My biggest concern is that they try to water down the patriotism in some way. That would be unforgivable.
Finally, the last thing that made me think this candidate would be outstanding was his performance in a 2007 action/horror CBM about a rural policeman facing an impossible enemy. While never becoming a ruthless killing machine (a la Rambo) he quietly lead his charge to safety, defeating the enemy and ultimately giving his life for his friends.
Still haven't figured it out? Then go on this link, hopefully after everything I said you'll appreciate the idea has much as me:
