#4 Eric Brooks/Blade
Blade (Eric Brooks) is a fictional character, a superhero/vampire hunter in the Marvel Comics universe. Created by writer Marv Wolfman and penciller Gene Colan, his first appearance was in the comic book The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973) as a supporting character.
dmb1511: When I was very young I remember asking my dad what he was watching on TV and his reply was Blade. I had no clue there were black hardcore vigilantes until that very moment. Every since then, I have had some kind of fascination with them. Blade is one of the greatest and most original heroes up until this day (and I gotta admit who wouldn’t want to see unleashed on Twilight). Though his TV series made me irritable, the film was one of the greatest Marvel Films/Series’ ever made. I am still waiting to see more of him (though if I were Marvel I would hesitate on another TV series). Blade is one of my favorite heroes and is impossibly amazing.
< bigshow2312: Singular, rambling and raw fundamentally sums up Blade. A human (Dhampir) with the uncommonness of becoming a vampire but is suited up with rare weaponry and keen martial arts skills. Not only that but his life is long-drawn-out, added with his phenomenal might. My earliest memory of Blade was on
Spider-Man animated series where he tried to kill Morbius and of course the famed Wesley Snipes portrayal. From those unconventional portrayals I was shown how Black representation can be fair. May the character live long in protecting the people in his scourge-like behavior.
