Joe Quesada on Captain America: "It's going to rock everyone's socks off!"

Marvel's E-I-C has revealed some new, small bits of info on 'The First Avenger: Captain America' and says that it sets up 'The Avengers'!
At the Big Apple Comic-Con, Quesada offered a brief update on 'The First Avenger: Captain America,' with which he's had some involvement.

"I've seen a couple of outlines and an initial screenplay, and it's going to rock everyone's socks off," he said. "It's very unexpected, the kind of movie it is."

Quesada added that 'Captain America' sets up 'The Avengers' in "a fantastic way" and also mentioned that there is an undisclosed wish list of actors to play the star-spangled superhero!

@ LEEE777: I've seen Blood Diamond along with many of his other movies. The guy's an incredible actor, for sure. I'm not saying he couldn't "act" the part. He is physically and vocally incapable of playing Captain America.

Vocally, his voice is too damn high. He sounds exactly like he did when he was a little kid in Titanic and Romeo and Juliet. I can't take him as a man until he shuts up and starts kicking someone's ass.

Physically, he's in good shape, but he would have to put on some muscle before stepping into Cap's shoes. I'd say AT LEAST 20 lbs of solid muscle.

Lastly, his face. I'm not saying he's an ugly bastard or anything. He just doesn't have the right face. It's too round and too weak. He'd put on the costume and look like a bobble head with his tiny body. That and he has a pussy's chin.

I don't think they have picked an actor yet. They are probably working on that right now.

Ackles already said it won't be him, and chances are better than good that DiCaprio is too busy to sign a two picture deal so that's likely out of the question also.
So those two are probably NOT going to be the one they go with.

If you guys want to continue this guessing game, I suggest you move the dialogue toward the unexpected. Just like Hemsworth, their pick will probably not be someone who is extremely well known. It may be that they will go with someone on the younger side.

You guys want to know what I think? I would be willing to bet that CHRIS PINE is at least on their list.
I'm not saying he would be a good pick necessarily but I betcha he's at least on their list.

DiCaprio was THE PICK of Stan Lee and Marvel writers. For years the only word from the Marvel camp on the matter was Leo Leo Leo. But I choose to explain that two ways

1) They are saying that because he has blonde hair and blue eyes (like Cap does), because he was a teen heart throb for a while which is a shrewd marketing thing, and yeah because the guy has talent.

2) They said that back when no one really beleieved that there would ever be a Cap Movie, and so it wouldn't matter who thy advocated.

That is how I choose to look at that

Hi all! I think the right kind of expressive eyes are important for a role like cap. Someone who can give orders with just a glance without needing to speak a word - so my vote's on Wentworth Miller from Prison break. Cap's a strategist and a leader.. ..which is precisely what Mike Scofield's character was. Miller nailed the part imo.

I couldn't see it if DiCaprio was CA. I just couldn't take that level of disappointment. I understand, he's a good actor, blah blah blah. This movie will be a benchmark for Marvel. Captain America for Marvel is what Superman is for DC (imho). I don't want to see it being given to famous people simply because they will draw ticket sales. I want the casting perfect, the script perfect, the directing perfect...

Fabs: Miller always used to be my first choice for Cap but I changed my mind to Ackles after a while because Im not sure that Miller has a commanding enough voice for Cap. Id still be pretty pleased if he were cast though! :)

Vince Vaughn will be Captain America.

And no, Captain America CANNOT be a black guy! Come on, know your history, chirrens! So no Vin Deisel, no Dwayne Johnson, no Snoopy Dog Dog.

Cap has a square jaw, a big lantern jaw, not a no-chin wonder. Heck, with some of the picks listed above, you might as well go with Prince Charles.

[Just kidding about the Vince Vaughn for Captain America, but I do think the guy could do a good job. I would FAR rather a wide-open casting call with the best actor for the role selected, and to me, that means an unknown. We should be seeing WAY more new actors in comic book movies. That way, the new actors can OWN the role instead of being haunted by past performances.]

Look at Iron-Man\Tony Stark Downey had a few problems before landing this role...now look him on top of the world. I also agree with the post that Hartley has been helping carry Smallville for the past few seasons out shining the star Welling.

Leo DiCaprio as Cap? I'd rather see Will Smith. I'd almost rather see Will FERRELL. IF you want to make this thing suck, why not go all the way? Leo can be a decent actor at times, but there is NO way in hell I can see him playing Cap. This is one of my all-time favorite comic heroes. If a movie is to be done, I want it done right. Give me an unknown, preferably. IF a name actor must be used, I agree with Fabs that Wentworth Miller might be able to pull it off, moreso if he grows his hair out some. I could possibly see that working.

@joshw24: To be honest I've really been surprised with all the support Ackles is getting by fans for the cap role. I could see him as a superhero, like say Hawkeye - or even as Bucky but he's just not a 'weightoftheworldonhisshoulders' kinda guy imo. Maybe cos I'm mostly familiar with him from his 'days or our lives' days! hehe
I could see matt damon in the role too. Same intense calculating look as miller.

@ LEE...not trying to be mean...but you need to get off the director's nuts man...you say Hemsworth is perfect for Thor...i bet if a director said so and so was Cap and not one of your flip floppy picks..then you'd be saying the actor picked is perfect for that character...honestly bro are you picking the guys who look like him...or that can act and bring the character of Cap to life on the big screen? My opinion is Josh Duhamel, the guy can act, and in his last two movies he's played a damn convincing soldier...minus the airplane jump scene in Transformers 2(he woulda been court martialed so many times)and he also (IN MY OPINION) has the ultimate marvel look of steve rogers...that's just my opinion....oh and whoever said Wentworth Miller as Cap...bad choice...the guy is bland in his acting...
