Sam Rockwell on his 'Iron Man 2' team up with War Machine!

The actor has spoken with MTV about his and Don Cheadle's team up in the upcoming 'Iron Man 2'!
This from MTV's Splash Page:

According to the actor, who described his character as "a bit of a shark" the characters' relationship is one of necessity rather than choice.

"Don's character, Rhodey, needs to work with me. He has no choice," said Rockwell. "So we team up and we build this fabulous War Machine."

When asked if Justin Hammer would be trying on the War Machine armour the actor told MTV, "I really wanted to, but Don wouldn't let me!"

This news has got me even more excited for 'Iron Man 2' - I cannot wait to see how War Machine comes together! Here's hoping we end up with Iron Man vs. War Machine at some point!!! :) Now that would be an epic fight to see in a movie...

Have they declared a main villian for this movie yet?
Phinehas - 11/3/2009, 4:30 PM
WHIPLASH, ROCKWELL WILL BE IN 3 TOO I BET!
dellamorte1872 - 11/3/2009, 4:39 PM
Whiplash doesn't seem to be a big enough character to be a "main villian".

Phinehas - 11/3/2009, 5:05 PM
phinehas- whiplash dosent looks to be like a main villain but they did it
flames809 - 11/3/2009, 5:40 PM
From all the news I've heard so far, it seems like Justin Hammer would be the main villain behind everything. Whiplash & War Machine just does the dirty work.

they should have cast some one old lol but he should do fine

dragonquest67 - 11/3/2009, 6:08 PM

dellamorte1872 - 11/3/2009, 6:13 PM
War Machine should make these movie cool

I have always personally liked rhodey better than tony. I'm glad that i finally get to see war machine on screen. Still not too crazy about cheadle as rhodey (man i hate recasting), but y'know he is kinda growing on me. besides, if favreau picked him (i think), then i gotta have some faith. Here's hoping that IM2 will be the greatest cbm of 2010 (Or perhaps Kick-Ass).

IMO Whiplash IS the main villain. JFav is all about building a solid plot around character development so adding another new character into the mix (there are already 3, not including Fury and Rhody's extended story lines) sounds like too much.

Buuuuuut, the Mandarin better me mentioned somewhere in there!
MultiPurposePoni - 11/3/2009, 8:00 PM
@multi

it is alot to work with, but y'know, favreau is a cool director, and i don't think he'll let us down

and yeah, I would def like to see a mandarin reference. he IS tony's best villain
supermarioworldE - 11/3/2009, 8:11 PM
@Multi: I don't know if how the Mandarin will work in the "realistic" world they have built around Iron Man with all of the alien tech stuff. I think all of the villains will work in this because they are making it more organic in how they are putting them together. (probably) I'm pretty excited about this flick though.

@Upupandaway: Did you miss the Mandarin references in the first Iron Man movie? There were three big ones.
MultiPurposePoni - 11/3/2009, 8:21 PM
Anyone hear anything more about that Iron Man anime that was coming out...? Or Wolverine, for that matter...?
MoonDoggyX - 11/3/2009, 8:56 PM
@Upupandaway

I understand they want to keep things as realistic as possible, but I hope they don't mess with the Mandarin too much. I hope he still uses "alien" technology/weapons. They stuck pretty close to the source material with regard to Iron Man. I think they should do the same for the Mandarin. Otherwise, they might ruin Iron Man's greatest foe.
Macksimus - 11/3/2009, 8:57 PM
@moon

not sure. I've watched the previews for them on my iron man dvd, but still haven't seen anything

supermarioworldE - 11/3/2009, 9:02 PM
no crimson dynamo so why not let hammer make war machine do his dirty work...hope this sets up the mandarin saga
Anil Rickly - 11/4/2009, 6:37 AM
as much as i'm excited about this movie like you all, i worry there may be too many new characters: hammer, lash, widow, war machine, not to mention fury.
droopy1317 - 11/4/2009, 6:41 AM
droopy1317: You're right - it definitely seems like a lot of characters for one movie but I have faith that Favreau will handle things well! I personally think that we're going to see Iron Man 3 before the Avengers so I think that would give them the space to set up The Avengers and the characters well!
JoshW - 11/4/2009, 6:57 AM
MANDARIN IS AWESOME THERES NO DOUBT. BUT I NEVER READ IROM MAN SO WHENEVER I GOT TO SEE TITANIUM MAN I THOUGHT HE WAS COOL. IRON MAN'S THREE BEST VILLIANS, IN MY OPINION

1. TITANIUM MAN
2. MANDARIN
3. CRYMSON DYNAMO
dellamorte1872 - 11/4/2009, 7:54 AM
NONE OF WHICH HAVE BEEN USED YET ON FILM
dellamorte1872 - 11/4/2009, 7:55 AM
@dellamorte- I think Whiplash will do fine, he'll adavcne though the movie, get upgraded and such, no need for too many villains.
Ryden - 11/4/2009, 11:10 AM
I like the fact that they are building war machine out of the mach 2 suit.

It can explain the color (silver) and it shows that that suit isnt as technicaly advanced as tonys other suits.

i dont want to see them fight in this movie honestly. I want to see them work against like a un-winnable situation together. Like say 25 drones that hammer builds or something.

FrankCastle1 - 11/4/2009, 5:13 PM
@Multi: I'm not saying that I don't want the Mandarin to be there with a gigantic Ultimo, but those references in the first movie might have just been fan service. I just don't know how the alien thing would mix in.
