Good find :P...i hope its Thanos !!
teabag - 11/6/2009, 10:27 AM
is it only one of the ones listed above?
vonstallin - 11/6/2009, 10:28 AM
I've got to go with Sentry or Sentry as The Void or a clone of him since Stormin' Norman has daily access to him.
magnumsnake - 11/6/2009, 10:31 AM
I'm going with lethal flatulence and a bad haircut. Deadly combo
MultiPurposePoni - 11/6/2009, 10:33 AM
WTF @ Don't wanna read this yet not up to SIEGE!
LEEE777 - 11/6/2009, 10:37 AM
MULTI: LMAO! :)

vonstallin: Im guessing that its probably one of the above (otherwise, what would be the point of the poster, lol?) but I have no idea who it could be...I have heard that X-Man would be making a return so I can imagine Osborn having power over him maybe!

I personally hope that its Mephisto or The Beyonder - someone powerful enough that they may have been behind everything thats happenned since Avengers Disassembled!
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 10:42 AM
Oh, and they also released this image at the same time..! Anyone have any ideas who this might be? :)

Sentry fo sho
Deadpool813 - 11/6/2009, 10:49 AM
It'll be Odin. The entire purpose of "Siege" is to give the Thor Universe a push before 2011 and the movie. Loki will figure out a way to access and manipulate Odin.

Meanwhile, it will turn out that Norman and the Beyonder have been an item since the 1980s, and Thanos will reveal that he has been cheating on Death with Mephisto. Surprise. All the villains are gay.
Simonsonrules - 11/6/2009, 10:50 AM
I think its either Mephisto or Scarlet Witch. I highly doubt X-Man would join forces with Osborn unless he has found a way to control him. Josh he is coming back and is going to go up against the Dark X-Men.
ironknight27 - 11/6/2009, 11:06 AM
I think its Mephisto. It would tie in with Spider man and OMD. It's not that hard to fathom Peter makes a deal with the devil and this is his consequence along with the marriage.

Stubbyswof - 11/6/2009, 11:15 AM
Cool PIC @ JOSH!!
LEEE777 - 11/6/2009, 11:24 AM
Hey WTF BEYONDER is up there!!!?

HELL YEAH!!!

BEYONDER !!!!
LEEE777 - 11/6/2009, 11:25 AM

Heh heh heh!!!
LEEE777 - 11/6/2009, 11:27 AM
Josh- Could that guy flying up there be Quazar??? I had heard that he would return soon. Not sure where i read that... i think it was on "comicbookresource.com" or sometin'.

Oh and could you give me the "list" of titles i would need to read to get a good grasp of Siege??? Like with what should i start and WHERE THE HELL Can i get those free online comics???
Shaman - 11/6/2009, 11:46 AM
@ josh

its definately going to be Mephisto!! i have no doubt in my mind. with all the OMD stuff with spiderman, this would be a perfect way to deal with some dangling plot threads. plus, he hasn't really been showcased as a big bad in a long time.
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 11:47 AM
cool im going with sentry aswel!
also talking about norman osborn
Photobucket

Avengers the movie 2: Dark avengers
lool im going a lil far ahead buh i needed an exuse 2 make an iron patriot pic lool
TheLivingWeapon - 11/6/2009, 11:50 AM
@ shaman

i think quasar is a good guess, but i don't know if he'd be involved in this story. he's more of a cosmic hero. but he IS supposedly making a return!

@ simonsonrules

the whole point of SIEGE is to get the big three together again, cap, thor, and iron man. its not a THOR based story. if anything, its to show cap's return and how he's going to be the key player in taking down Stormin' Norman.
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 11:51 AM
Also Akihiro Sato for Daken!
Photobucket
TheLivingWeapon - 11/6/2009, 11:52 AM
@ livingweapon

awesome pic man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we'll never see that in a movie anytime soon, but that pic is outstanding, man!
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 11:52 AM
@Corndog

cheers dude!
TheLivingWeapon - 11/6/2009, 11:55 AM
@Corndog:

Agreed about the big three, but "Siege" refers to the "Siege" of Asgard, no?
Simonsonrules - 11/6/2009, 12:15 PM
Shaman: Huh, I hadnt heard that about Quasar - that would be brilliant though - great idea!!! I'll have a look now through my collection, lol, for the titles I would advise you to get in preperation for the event and I'll post it here in a few minutes! :)

CorndogBurglar: Yeah, Mephisto would make a lot of sense but Im not sure if Bendis will bring in the whole confusion around BND into Siege...it definitely makes the most sense though..!

TheLivingWeapon: Awesome pictures dude!!! Your Daken choice is excellent! :D
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 12:18 PM
Josh & CDB- What if it's a way bigger Siege than what we think it is and all those up there ARE his secret weapon??? That would mean that it very well could be Quazar flying up there ;)

Oh and Josh, what do you want me to post???
Shaman - 11/6/2009, 12:20 PM
@ simonson

no, its not about asgard. Siege is like the siege of norman's empire. at least that's what i assume. i don't believe asgard has anything to do with it. actually, there IS no asgard, right now, since ragnarok happened. thor has been living on earth since his return. but who knows, if it does turn out to be odin, this could be a good way of having asgard's return. they just haven't really hinted at anything like that. but who knows man, you could be right!
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 12:33 PM
Shaman: Well, Im not sure what titles you buy or how up to date you are but here is my list of the essentials you'll need so that when Siege comes around you'll be bang up to date! It all started after Secret Invasion so I guess that it would be worth picking that up but the Dark Reign title that I would say you need are...

Dark Avengers #1-6, #9-onwards (you can skip the crossover issues with Uncanny X-Men because I dont think that will play a huge part in Siege)

Dark Reign The List: Avengers, Spider-Man (the rest are more like annuals for the characters titles though I'd reccomend Punisher for the shock ending alone!)

Captain America: Reborn #1-onwards
Invincible Iron Man #8-19 (and onwards)
Thor #1-onwards (but only if you're desperate to know everything about the return of Thor and his leaving Asgard)

And, unless I've forgotten any they're the most essential Dark Reign issues that in my opinion you need to have read to have a full grasp of Siege. Though to be honest, at the same time there are also titles like New Avengers that have had a lot of Dark Reign stuff in so its difficult to say specific titles that you have to read but I think the ones I listed above are the main ones! As for Siege, there are a few prologue titles out in December which are Siege: The Cabal and Origins of Siege, though I imagine they'll announce some kind of checklist nearer the time!

Hope this helped bud! :)
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 12:36 PM
@ josh

if it turns out to be mephisto, they can just have the whole "magic" side of the MU fixed, without having TOO much to do with OMD in particular. and who better to have on his side than the devil?? y'know?
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 12:36 PM
@Josh

fanx! also my choice for daken is sick because daken's real name is Akihiro aswel! plus Sato is half chinease half White aswel!

tell me someone better lool :D
TheLivingWeapon - 11/6/2009, 12:38 PM
@ josh

i've been meaning to ask you, i know you read a lot of comics, but have you read Earth X? its easily my favorite marvel story of all time. its truly EPIC!
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 12:39 PM
TheLivingWeapon: I cant man - my choice was Zachary Quinto and your pick kicks his ass right out of the door, lol!

CorndogBurglar: I can honestly tell you that I've been meaning to buy that for about 3 years but as the amount of current comic books I buy has gone up and up I havent been able to buy a graphic novel for ages, lol! I'll have to get that ASAP though - thanks for reminding me! :D
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 12:48 PM
Thanks Josh, it does help. So all this started with Secret Invasion... when was Civil War??? I haven't read that either. Is that essential too???
Shaman - 11/6/2009, 12:54 PM
@ joshw

yeah man, earth x really is something special.
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 1:01 PM
i think that it's the beyonder...i think after the fans thrashed marvel for the omd crap...that they wont risk tieing this in with mephisto...it seems like the beyonder's dealings...esp after his dealings with the illumnati and the revelation that he is a mutant inhuman...and bendis himself left beyonder's fate in the air by leaving him on some planet far away...in new avengers illuminati...that alone makes me think it is beyonder...he's a bendis-toy!!! and also remember beyonder after gaining lots of power from the terrigen mists even altered black bolt's mind...and the power he showed in the past..like in secret wars 2...would be greater than molecule man or even sentry...and even make dr doom cringe upon sight...plus i think after charles and illuminati had to help him when he wanted to reshape earth...i am certain that beyonder just wanted to f**k with the marvelU...for all we know he may have even pretended to be mephisto...but i am certain that it's beyonder...cuz none of the other candidates i think can make doom tremble in check...
also thanos will be brought back in a cosmic event, wanda was mind-f**ked and left in peace by barton in a rural village and im sure her story will be dealt with by young avengers and her kids, and the x-men/magneto if need be, so by the process of eliminating the candidates and looking at the past few years of books...and the fact that bendis is craftin this...it screams BEYONDER
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 1:14 PM
Shaman: Definitely!! Civil War is from back in 2006/7, which was followed buy World War Hulk (not even a little bit essential but a great read!) You should buy Civil War ((you can make do without reading that for this event but its an amazing comic book most definitely worth reading. Dont worry about the tie-ins, they're not essential for Siege) Secret Invasion (again, dont worry about tie-ins, just the main series' are fine to get you up to speed!) and after SI are all the titles that I've listed above!

By now, you should be able to get 99% of these as graphic novels so it wont be too hard to find them all! :)
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 1:17 PM
http://comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=23623

thats the siege trailer....i see the siege of asgard being amazing cuz norman wants to tango with thor!!
as for the other possible picks....
it wont be odin cuz bendis himself says this ties back since house of M...i cant see odin, molecule man or mephisto helping craft this since then and aid norman...nor thanos...the fact that bendis says this goes back....makes me figure more it's beyonder...plus we know how beyonder likes his games...whether it be with individuals or actual entire worlds..so the past few years may have just been one big game to HIM...
maybe he's testing the MU to see who is worthy of surviving...
as for nate grey..umm no...he wont come back and have such A HUGE ROLE...he aint even linked to the major x-books yet..which disappoints me cuz nate is a sickk character...
ahem...bendis using the beyonder in the past seems to be the sellout for me
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 1:26 PM
the only viable candidates are the scarlet witch, thanos and beyonder and given his major past accomplishments...and the fact the first 2 are incapacitated..and the fact that he's lingering around sumwhere unchecked...and also he seems to be the guy flying in the sky lookin like hasselhoff...jerri curl and all...i bet it it beyonder
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 1:28 PM
@Josh

lol yea..first i thought keanu reeves would be a gd choice wiv him being half oriental himself
daken

but when i did the pic i was like 'actuali nah' lool
TheLivingWeapon - 11/6/2009, 1:29 PM
Mephisto is Norman Osborne's secret weapon. Remember Spider-Man OMD and ABN. Who's a better secret weapon then the guy who changed everything in Peter's life. Fans may have trashed Marvel for what had happen, but I don't believe the fans will stop Joe JACK ASS Quesada, for connecting Siege with his OMD and BND. It would be crazy if Norman Osborn new what Peter once was before he made the deal with Mephisto.
TDKR11 - 11/6/2009, 1:30 PM
"SIEGE" is about Norman gathering the Cabal and attempting to take Asgard. It's kind of weird that they're pushing a "secret weapon" for Norman when he hasn't used his original "secret weapon" from when he first came into power of the Avengers, and thats the Sentry. I kind of wish Hulk would have just killed Sentry back in "WORLD WAR HULK". But since he didn't, Normans gotta use this guy! Wouldn't it be cool if Norman unleashed Sentry when Thor came back, just to have Thor beat the crap out of him? Thats the fight I wanna see!
joshw24- that pic is XMAN all day
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 1:34 PM
Amil Rickly: I like your theory man! I could definitely see him getting his own back on The Illuminati by screwing with things on Earth...

TheLivingWeapon: Yeah, I can see what you mean, lol!! :)

TDKR11: I see what you're saying but I think Marvel are trying to distance themselves from the Peter/Mephisto deal...I read somewhere that we might find out what MJ whispered to Mephisto at the end of BND but otherwise the explanation for how everyone forgot him revealing his identity will be explained in a different way apparently!
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 1:37 PM
Also while we got the cool pics up and everything, I wanna see Logan KILL Daken. Not that I haven't enjoyed Daken's little run as "Dark Wolverine" but I think if Logan had to eventually put down his own son it would add alot to Logans already unstable psyche.
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 1:41 PM
Makiveli21: Yeah, I really wish they had killed off Sentry - I've never liked the character, lol! Bendis has said though that...

"Sentry is the most polarizing character, that I can think of, in the Marvel Universe. People love him, or they f**king hate him, or they love to hate him… or they just hate him. He is a Superman character, almost a DC Universe character, in the middle of the Marvel Universe. No one knows if he's alive or dead or a god or a being of light or darkness. All of these questions will be answered in Siege and the surrounding tie-ins. But that storyline will come to a climax. We're going to turn all of our Sentry cards over."

Sounds pretty interesting IMO! :) I really dont like the whole "Dark Wolverine" thing going on with Wolverine - IMO, Wolverine needs a fresh, new creative team on his core title! If only that could be Mark Millar! His Enemy of the State and Old Man Logan stuff was amazing!
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 1:41 PM
I've been dyin to know what she whispered in his ear too! When will we get answers?!?!?
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 1:42 PM
I can already see it... Thor's gonna kill Sentry!
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 1:44 PM
the tieing in of that crappy spider man arc to this major event is unfathomable...even quesada knows that..as for what happened with omd, bnd...that will get sorted out for sure in AMS...not in this major title...and also...bringin back xman and dumping him as a key figure into this event is not sensible...xman resurrection belongs in the mahor x-books..and i am disappointed that he aint in them..as yet...cuz with hope coming back with cable, nate returning...and apocalypse vowing to meet hope again after messiah war...not to mention the dark-angel and dark-gambit personas in the mix again...i think xmen are gonna face a MU earth 616 age of apocalypse...with hope as his host...and with dark beast in the MU 616..i think it aint a coincidence..hence why the weapon aint nate grey...he's bein saved for an x-event...
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 1:47 PM
wolverine is so many titles...it is saturated and becoming old like deadpool..how many snikts and bubs am i gonna get?..i like the romulus arc and the daken scenario but i think wolverine killin his son and maybe romulus...will give us back the cold blooded killer we know and i want..cuz this hugh jackman softie that ive seen in avengers and other x-books, save for the amazing x-force, is lame...he needs to kill again...
as for sentry...i think he is a celestial-associated entity..i aint buyin this super-soldier serum with the power of 1000 suns...and i think bendis is gonna make him a major villain in year cuz i think thor is gonna kill bob but leave the sentry open for the void to take!!!
as for dark reign...spidey wont kill norman...he wont be a hypocrite after telling harry not to become his dad...i think it may be barton, cuz he is unhinged since donning ronin, and i want him to become hawkeye again and take over the t-bolts...with his crew as moon knight, frankencastle, mockingbird, elektra...that is they become the legit dark avengers...with ares as his field leader...
as for mighty avengers...i see them becoming the avengers' science/alien/investiagtion team..so i think marvel boy, war machine will join em...and they'll also try to solve the wanda problem with pietro...
as for new avengers...drop wolverine, lose hawkeye and wife, bring back danny rand in with luke, get thor in there again...and we got our teams!!!
also i boldly predict that daredevil, echo, barton will assault the dark avengers..and bullseye will be killed by ronin..who turns out to be elektra!!! payback bitch!!!
i think to extend the origins run, wolvie spares daken who prob will go onto trying to become a hero with moonstone...while bangin her also...
and also venom will be imprisoned along with victoria hand...whew...the predictions of a mad cb reader
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 1:58 PM
WoW Anil those are some detailed predictions! I agree that Thor killing Sentry might not be the best way to handle things, its what we all want to see! And your proabably right about Daken trying to become a real hero but is there room in the Marvel U for 2 Wolverines? And as for Spidey and the Goblin, I feel like Peter has to kill him. If anyone else did it, I would feel totally jipped. Maybe not in cold blood, but Normans death has to come in a fight with Spider-Man, because its his fight not Ronins.
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 2:05 PM
What's OMD and BDN???
Shaman - 11/6/2009, 2:07 PM
"one more day" and "brand new day"
Makiveli21 - 11/6/2009, 2:17 PM
And what happened in those that the fans shat on collectively???
Shaman - 11/6/2009, 2:21 PM
controversial spidey arcs indeed...lots of backroom drama in marvel too for that...
id luv for spidey to kill normie but with great power...etc...so he wont...norman is gonna be jailed...not killed...
but dudez anthr comspiracy theory popped into my head....
remember in civil war when norman was trying to kill the atlantean contingent or emissary or whatever and we saw him being aided/goaded/terrified by some kinda shadowy figure when osborn was in a cell...i alwyz thought twas emma frost but now i think fuh sure it's beyonder...also how did normie know to intercept the data from deadpool to kill the skrull queen?...and isnt it a bit wierd how ez a psycho was given the keys to the t-bolts...and then to shield...hmmm...seems like beyonder to me
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 2:22 PM
I think that Spider-Man should stop Norman...not KILL him! He's too good a villain to just kill off!!!
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 2:23 PM
deals with mephisto's deal to bring aunt may back...and erase the identity blog about spidey...sucked i felt...as for what mj said...dude i have no frickin clue...i dont even know if that was mephisto cuz i can even see the beyonder machinating that shite also
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 2:25 PM
Shaman: One More Day is the storyline in which Aunt May was dying so Peter was forced into giving up his marriage in a deal with Mephisto to save her life and Brand New Day is what the new status quo was originally referred to after this. Its actually been really good so far although none of the stories feel like they couldnt have been told with a married Peter! :)
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 2:27 PM
Anil Rickly: Interesting ideas man! :) The worst thing about OMD for me was characters like Osborn, Black Cat and Daredevil forgetting Spider-Man's identity! I'm glad that they found a way of explaining Harry's return without Mephisto but it feels like there are a thousand better ways they could have done the storyline without it! Would it have been so bad for Peter and MJ to just get a [frick]ing divorce, lol!?! Im just hoping that we're going to get the promised story that explains everything - how does MJ still remember for example?
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 2:42 PM
mark my words - Osborne will d!e in the end. check it.
Keven - 11/6/2009, 3:04 PM
i felt that osborn should have had a huger role on AMS...american son was good and now the gauntlet looks nice but spidey had nice, but un-exciting stories told, u wud think norman wud go ape-sh!t on his greatest foe...primarily and then go after the others on his list..i felt pete was too free for a world run by osborn..

i still think norman did a way better job than stark did...hence why he cant be killed...so u are correct josh...he did bring civil order back to some degree after the invasion etc...under stark's watch too much crap happened...that's why i dont buy into this stark redemption crap...civil war, steve dying, thor clone, bill foster's death...it's why i hope stark doesnt come back to the trinity...i want him off...in all ways...so i root for norman to kick stark away...but at the end...i want fury/rogers to run shield and avengers

Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 3:18 PM
@ josh

if they killed off norman, they would just bring him back later. and like you said, he's too good of a character.
CorndogBurglar - 11/6/2009, 3:30 PM
asgard in flames
Anil Rickly - 11/6/2009, 3:48 PM
Beyonder.....its been too long since he has messed with the Marvel Universe, waaaaay too long!
icebergslick - 11/6/2009, 4:44 PM
Personally I don't think I've bought a comic book in 6 months to be exact. I really think that Marvel and DC needs to slow down with all these heavy story arcs. Secret Invasion in my opinion, was no where as good as Civil War. I stopped reading Secret Invasion around #5 or 6. Now the idea of Norman Osborn running S.H.I.E.L.D wasn't a bad idea but I just couldn't get into the Dark Reign storyline.

I think I will be checking for the SIEGE event though. To be honest I agree with some of the posters as in I would want to find out how does "One More Day" & "Brand New Day" fits into this b/c I never liked how Marvel changed the Spider-Man continuity around after these stories. Maybe after "siege" is over they'll explain the SM situation.

comicfan92 - 11/6/2009, 4:52 PM
it's the Red Skull in captain america's body
TruGrave - 11/6/2009, 5:16 PM
If its Nate how wonder how they would bring him back after the Harvester issue. That man has been thru a enough.
Spock - 11/6/2009, 5:28 PM
Anil: Yeah, Stark did some bad shit...its going to be interesting to see how Cap treats him if they meet up again! I mean Thor hates his guts (I loved how he kicked Stark's ass in JMS's Thor #3!) but I still feel that Stark redeemed himself a little during this whole World's Most Wanted even though he was only making up for his own mistakes! I was quite disappointed by American Son - I was hoping for a huge Norman vs. Spider-Man showdown but the Harry and Menace stuff got in the way! Hopefully Spider-Man's List issue will make up for that! :)

CorndogBurglar: You're probably right but Id rather not have to wait until he returns from the dead, lol! I just miss the days of Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin! :(
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 6:07 PM
Oh, and this article proves that a comic section on CBM would work brilliantly! Look how busy the articles been and the great discussions that are going on! :)
joshw24 - 11/6/2009, 6:12 PM
Christopher Nolan's brother is Norman Osborne's secret weapon.
Betty - 11/6/2009, 6:19 PM
that pic leads me to believe it will be THE SENTRY, NORMAN OSBOURNE'S "CONFESSED" SECRET WEAPON. WHO IS THE CHARACTER IN THE MIDDLE OF, ODIN AND X-MAN, UP THERE ^ ON THAT COVER PIC?
dellamorte1872 - 11/6/2009, 6:54 PM
all of them
GunRyder - 11/6/2009, 7:48 PM
I've been really pleased with the way this has been going so far. I was most excited with the end of utopia. i knew Namor would never work with Osborn.
nice find indeed

LEEE77@- LOVE the Hoff spongebob squarepants photo.

Beyonder still looks like Michael Jackson?
Retribution13 - 11/7/2009, 1:29 AM
My guess (for the second poster) is Adam Warlock.

@ josh

i'm an avid comic reader like you, i've got a baby on the way, so i've had to cut back recently, but i would LOVE a comics section on here. i go to newsarama for actual comic talk, but it isn't the samw without all you guys. i would love it, personally!
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 4:24 AM
@ mr jojo

i think warlock came back during annihilation conquest, so it could be, but that pic looks like a character is making a return, so maybe not.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 4:25 AM
i think that's molecule man...not adam warlock...read the last issue of guardians of the galaxy and i wont spoil it but the weapon CANNOT be warlock!!!
also, i heard ppl asking if it will be quasar...quasar will return in DnA's cosmic REALM OF KINGS...so it aint him...
it aint nate grey cuz he is now returning...osborn had his weapon early on..and scared doom with it...it cant be the sentry cuz doom knew of him for a while and was never scared of him...but doom crapped when he saw the weapon...

also, in the pic of the silhouette flying above the ppl, only 1 guy likes that fan fare and adoration and attention..it's beyonder..i think he was goading osborn since osborn shat himself in the cell in civil war...and the figure was shown as a shadow...just like in the pic above
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 7:56 AM
@ anil

mr jojo meant who is the silhouette guy, when he mentioned warlock. the guy in the silhouette pic more than likely isn't the secret weapon. there are other promo pics for siege like that.

and i don't think the silhouette is beyonder, he looks nothing like him. you could be right, tho. also, the crowd's reaction could mean anything. they're pointing up at a guy thats flying. its probably someone they've seen before thats making a return. there just aren't that many marvel heroes that fly and have capes and look all superman-ish. thats why its so tricky to guess who it is, because the obvious guesses are almost automatically ruled out.

i want to know what that yellow disk thing is on norman's arm. it almost looks like it has an "S" shape on it. is that the emblem on the sentry's belt???
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 9:27 AM
I haven't been following what's been happening very regularly so I might be missing some details but..
What about the 'Scarlet witch'? She has luck/realty altering powers - which could be what are giving Osborn his lucky streak and it makes sense that she would make her return when the Avengers are reunited...
Fabs - 11/7/2009, 9:55 AM
@ fabs

it would, but i don't know, scarlet witch was the center of attention for so long. i'm thinking either mephisto or the beyonder. but scarlet witch has been shown to have lost her memory, so it IS possible that norman found a way to get her under his finger. and that WOULD be good reason for Doom to crap his huggies when norman showed him.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 10:05 AM
man, could this be miracle man / marvel man??? he DOES look like him, and marvel just aquired the rights to him.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 10:09 AM
hmmmm...bendis is a beyonder fan...so im stickin with that gun lol...
but the yellow disk does seem like sentry's icon...maybe norman will unlesh the void...
but again i go back to the shadowy figure since civil war that spoke to osborn...seems to be beyonder
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 10:28 AM
the silhouette is miracle man, for sure!! no one else looks like that! and it was such a big deal that marvel grabbed up the rights. he might not be norman's secret weapon, but that guy flying is miracle man.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 11:16 AM
CDB: The disc that Norman is throwing is an X-Men badge they've blanked out - that whole image is just him from the cover of the 3 part Dark X-Men #1 mini series that came out during Utopia!

I cant imagine Bendis complicating things by bringing Marvel Man into the mix, I heard a rumour that Mark Millar would be working on the story that brings him back!

Anil: Which issues is the shadowy figure in? I had completely forgotten about that and would like to look it up! :)
joshw24 - 11/7/2009, 11:57 AM
@josh...dude i cannot remember the issue...and i have to look for my civil war dvd collection in a dusty wardrobe...but dude..few ppl remember that shadowy figure...and only last week i remembered i never got clarity on that whole mystery guy meets osborn moment!!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 12:08 PM
Anil: No worries, I'll have a read through my Civil war: Front Line issues because I know it was one of them..! Im glad you reminded me because the whole Norman shooting the Atlantean storyline always seemed odd especially the way it resulted in him running the Thunderbolts! I really hope we get a stisfying conclusion to this whole Siege thing though...Bendis is good most of the time but I find his stuff to be pretty underwelming at times...
joshw24 - 11/7/2009, 12:16 PM
SECRET INVASION was BENDIS'S best idea, and i feel like they watered down his crazy brilliant concept. THE BEYONDER doesnt wear a cape. idk enough about MIRACLE MAN OR MARLVEL MAN or whatever to speculate
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 1:31 PM
joshw24 - You sure that's not the Identity Disc?
JonF - 11/7/2009, 1:50 PM
@ dellamorte

there's a lot of talk online that the secret weapon will have the initials MM. thats either molecule man or miracle man. but like you said, it is kind of speculation. but it would be a good way to bring him into the MU.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 2:17 PM
Im now 150% on the same side as Anil - its definitely The Beyonder thats Normans secret weapon! I just re-read the one shot, Secret Invasion: Dark Reign and when Doom and Namor are discussing things and they say that "he" has tripped himself up in the past when he's pitted them against each other and "he" could lead to a devestating war...I dont think thats Norman they're talking about - that sounds much more like The Beyonder to me!!!
joshw24 - 11/7/2009, 2:27 PM
@ josh

that does kind of make sense. the beyonder has pitted the heroes and villains against each other WWAAAAAAAAYYYY back in secret wars. and i would say secret wars was a devastating war, even though it took place off-planet.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 2:30 PM
i just have a hard time ignoring all this talk that its going to be miracle man. if you look around online at other sites, that seems to be the general concensus

CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 2:32 PM
CDB: Yeah...however Marvel didnt get the rights to that character until fairly recently and way after the shadowy figure appeared! The trailer for Siege shows Asgard in flames crashing towards Earth so whoever Norman's weapon is has to be as powerful as hell...
joshw24 - 11/7/2009, 2:56 PM
THE BEYONDER DOESNT HAVE A CAPE THOUGH! MIRACLE MAN'S recent arrival at MARVEL was not long ago i agree. so this "shadowy figure" you all talk about had been set up way prior to this "new" acquisition
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 3:11 PM
that yellow disc NORMAN'S chucking above aint THE SENTRY symbol b/c i think his symbol has always been blue
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 3:25 PM
@ dellamorte

yeah, but the guy flying in that promo pic isn't necessarily the secret weapon. there are 3 other promo pics that go along with this featuring spiderman holding the green goblin's mask with blood splattered all over the background, wolverine fighting daken, and one with iron man opeining a suit case with his armor in it. so there's no telling, really, if that silhouette is actually the secret weapon or someone else.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 3:30 PM

does the iron man one look like stark is asking cap to be iron man??? why does steve have such a shocked look???
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 3:35 PM
@ morte

yeah, sentry's belt is blue, with the yellow S that kind of glows as he uses his powers.

@ jonf

what is the identity disk?? never heard of it.
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 3:50 PM
Almost 100 comments...CBM needs a section for comic book news!!! :)
joshw24 - 11/7/2009, 3:54 PM
@ josh

yes they do

CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 4:02 PM
i love this dred..and you guys need to comment more on SORA THE KEY'S posts...kicks ass

ahem...i checked out the sentry's belt..the yellow disc aint it...
@josh...thanks for the backup dude...i just feel like bendis' illuminati work with beyonder is culminating here..
as for the silhouette...it duznt have to be the weapon but i still think the fruity pose seems like beyonder lol
@corndog...i was telling josh the other day that i think steve is being offered the armor...makin the thor, bucky and steve iron man the new trinity...cuz tony is in no shape to return to avengers duty...after normie helped him fry his brain..
i agree it aint marvelman cuz bendis says this goes way back...predating when marvel got back his rights...plus if u know bendis' work..which can be iffy...this big reveal will be something huge that we all know and which has absent for a while...aka the big beyonder...who has wreaked havoc with his wars amongst heroes and villains alike..that's why i saw doom shat himself...
hence why doom aligned with loki..cuz he knew normie had a wicked backup
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 4:10 PM
as if spiderman will kill osborn..ha ha...yea right...
wolvie will unmask daken and show the world there is only one man who goes SNIKT....
I wonder if there are gonna be deaths...after wasp in SI...is marvel gonna kill off anyone? hmmm...hero or villain???
i think venom and bullseye and the other dark avengers or even t-bolts have all been well received so who we gonna see kick the bucket???
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 4:26 PM
it deffinetly is NORMAN'S SECRET WEAPON B/C ITS ALL SILHOUETTED, they're trying to "tease" you into theorizing the possibilities. and i doubt that ANY of the characters on the cover above are the flying shadowy figure. on a side note. the shadowy figure appears to wear a bright colored long-sleeve shirt, cuffed like SUPERMAN but bulbous big boots remenicent of early CAPTAIN AMERICA with boots curled up at the top like that, now obviously neither of these characters are the figure. so i'm trying to think of a MARVEL HERO OR VILLIAN, POWERFUL ENOUGH TO BE SEEN IN THAT SITUATION AS AWE-INSPIRING
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 4:30 PM
@ anil

it does look like stark is asking him to be iron man. steve looks completely shocked in that picture. maybe he'll become a "real iron patriot". then bucky could stay as cap and make a lot of people happy!

i don't know if anyone'll die, i'm sure SOMEONE will, they never do big events without killing someone, lol. stark might stop being iron man for a while instead of someone dying...
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 4:32 PM
@ morte

i see his legs a little differently. to me it looks like he's got kind of baggy pants on instead of cap-ish boots. its kind of hard to tell
CorndogBurglar - 11/7/2009, 4:33 PM
@morte...the figure seems fruity..just like the hasselhoff-MJ version of beyonder
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 4:39 PM

THE BEYONDER DOESNT HAVE A CAPE OR COWL OR WHATEVER! I DONT SEE IT BEING MIRACLE MAN OR ANY "GALACTIC THREAT, THE SKRULLS WERE JUST HERE LAST YEAR, THEY COULDA WORKED IN OTHER "SCI-FI/GALACTIC" CHARACTERS THEN. AND I HIGHLY DOUBT IT WILL BE MEPHISTO EVEN THOUGH THAT WOULD MAKE A STRANGE KINDA SENSE. BUT THE BND FIASCO HASNT REACHED "CLONE SAGA" PROPORTIONS EVEN THOUGH I AM SURE IT WILL EVENTUALLY. AND IT CANT BE MIRACLE MAN! MARVEL COULDNT HAVE KNOWN THATD HAVE THE PROPERTY IN 09 "THE SHADOWY CHARACTER" MYSTERY HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE. BUT I THINK THE PERSON THEY SHOW FLYING THERE MUST BE "PERCIEVED" AS A VILLIAN B/C NO ONE IN THE CROWD SEEMS HAPPY, SO IM VERY INTRIGUED, THEY LOOK FRIGHTENED, GASPING AND POINTING
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 6:18 PM
@ morte...i thought the same of the crowd...but maybe we confuse fright with shock or awe...if it were a villain we mighta seen ppl screaming!!!...that's what makes me think it may be beyonder above the crowd...
1) he's norman's shadow guy...hence why he is still a silhouette
2) the crowd doesn't even know him as a major be-all-end-all villainous despot that pits supers against supers...maybe normie unleashes him as a positive entity on society...much like he has with his dark avengers
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 6:50 PM
THEY'RE NOT RUNNING, AND SCREAMING BUT THEY ARENT SMILING EITHER, SO PERHAPS YES. WHATEVER IT IS UP THERE THEY SEE IT AS MORE OF A SHOCK I GUESS THAN ANYTHING
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 6:58 PM
STILL DOESNT EXPLAIN WHERE THE BEYONDER GOT THE NEW LOOK FROM THEN IF THAT IS IN FACT HIM
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 6:59 PM
i guess if he can start secret wars he can change into an even fruitier wardrobe...lol
@josh...dude did you find the issue where norman, after goin bullets on the atlantean, encounters the shadowy figure??...and how tha hell did the govt or whoever decide to grant him access to the t-bolt reins after he tried that assassination crap????
the osborn factor in civil war has been one of the most nagging things to me cuz lots happened with him in civil war that just didnt seem to make sense to me...will i get my answers now mr bendis?????????????
Anil Rickly - 11/7/2009, 7:21 PM
honestly dont even get me started with NORMAN his ressurection should have never happened his "death" was a cornerstone in SPIDER-MAN MYTHOLOGY JUST LIKE GWEN STACY AND UNCLE BEN
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 7:27 PM
thats why i gave up on SPIDEY after BND...HARRY OSBORNE AND EDDIE BROCK ARE BACK AS WELL AS QUENTIN "MYSTERIO" BECK. SPIDER-MAN HAS GOTTEN TOO [frick]ED UP! AUNT MAY SHOULDA DIED AND SPIDER-MAN COULDA BLAMED HIMSELF SHIT EVEN HAVE MJ JUST LEAVE HIM FOR A WHILE CAUSE HE IS GRIEVING IDK. PROGRESS THE CHARACTER...THEY TOOK PETE 1 STEP FURTHER AND 3 STEPS BACK. I DIG HEARING SPIDER-MAN SHIT NOW BUT SINCE BND I SWORE OFF SPIDER-MAN FOREVER
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 7:38 PM
That cover with Cap looks more to me like Steve just told Tony Stark to suit up and "let's ride".
niknik - 11/7/2009, 8:25 PM
DEFFINETLY @NIKNIK NO DOUBT DUDE
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 8:29 PM
I REALLY WANT DAKEN KILLED OFF, HIS CHARACTER IS SO CORNY AND CLICHE. HE WAS IN AN "ELSEWORLS" KINDA TALE THAT IS SUDDENLY CANON NOW, HE HAS THAT CORNY MURAMASA BLADE IN HIS FOREARMS, THOSE CORNY NONE-SENSICAL TATTOOS THAT WOULD VANISH IF NOT CONSTANTLY REAPPLIED
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 8:39 PM
COULD BE THE BEYONDER THOUGH NOW THAT I THINK OF IT HE COULD HAVE THAT CORNY WHITE COAT UN-BUTTONED SO WE ALL "THINK" ITS THE SENTRY OR WHATEVER. SINCE HES "IS ON THE COVER AT THE TOP"
dellamorte1872 - 11/7/2009, 8:46 PM
Anil: Yeah, it was in Civil War: Front Line #8 or #9 - the story ends with him in police custody being taken away by the mysterious figure who seems to be masquerading as someone who's got more authority than the police...how did he go from that to leading the Thunderbolts!?! I hope we get some answers...
joshw24 - 11/8/2009, 10:32 AM
@josh.....>>> i know....and also how did he know to intercept the deadpool data on the queen skrull and also how did he get the shield job based on one kill shot...too much stuff happened without norman having some kinda good luck charm...
i cant wait for sentry and thor to battle...cuz i think the void is gonna bring asgard down hard!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/8/2009, 10:52 AM
@morte....the romulus and daken saga will linger on...but i do think a daken vs x23 or maybe a teamup would be interesting..i like x23 and pitting daken against her would be cool...also maybe xforce has room for daken...cuz wolvie is all over MU...a bit too much....just like deadpool....
Anil Rickly - 11/8/2009, 11:40 AM
i always hatedd X-23 b/c she was "originated" on that horrible toon they passed off as the x-men in X-MEN:EVOLUTION. BUT DAKEN IS EVEN WORSE! NOW UNFORTUNATELY IF IT CAME DOWN BETWEEN THE 2 OF THEM ID PICK X-23. JUST B/C DAKEN IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO TERRIBLE, ITS A COP-OUT CONCEPT. AS I SAID TAKING AN "ELSEWORLDS" LIKE TALE ABOUT WOLVERINE AND SUDDENLY MAKING IT CANON! COME ON, THERE ARE WAY BETTER "ELSEWORLD" "WHAT IF?" TALES I'D PREFER TO SEE ADAPTED INTO CANON
dellamorte1872 - 11/8/2009, 4:03 PM
@ morte

i thought daken was created in the wolverine origins comics. and that has been canon since issue one. but i agree, that guy is the worst character ever. and i'm still waiting on an explanation as to how x-23 is a CLONE of wolvie, yet she's a girl. that kind of goes against the entire definition of a CLONE.

i'm still waiting for them to reveal that romulus is wolvie's "dead" older brother. the one that supposedly died during child birth in Origin.
CorndogBurglar - 11/8/2009, 9:32 PM
WOLVERINE: ORIGINS - WAS A COMIC "CREATED" B/C DANIEL WAY LIKED THE MIKE MIGNOLA ONE-SHOT WITH DAKEN. AND HE "DECIDED" IT SHOULD BE CANON. IT WASNT CANON WHEN IT WAS CREATED IN THE 90'S. AND WAY REDESIGNS THE CONCEPT, IN THE 1 SHOT DAKEN IS HIS BABY, HE'S NEVER CALLED DAKEN, AND HE AND HIS MOTHER APPARENTLY DIED ON THE SAVAGE LAND UNTIL DANIEL WAY DECIDED TO "RUN AMOKE" WITH THE CONCEPT
dellamorte1872 - 11/9/2009, 6:59 AM
THEY ALSO TELL YOU WHY X-23 IS A CLONE, AND A CHICK. IN X-23'S FIRST AND ORIGINAL MINI-SERIES. THATS WHY THEY DONT TALK ABOUT IT NOW, ITS ALREADY COVERED DUDE. MY POINT IS THEY BOTH SUCK, SAME AS SKAAR. I LIKE HOW THEY TOOK AN OLD "WHAT IF", "WHAT IF HULK WAS A BARBARIAN?" OR WHATEVER AND MADE IT, KINDA DIFFERENT FOR "PLANET HULK". THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH INSPIRATION. IT SHOULD JUST LEAD TO BETTER CONCEPTS NOT CLICHE CORNY ATTEMPTS
dellamorte1872 - 11/9/2009, 7:25 AM
I DONT READ "ORIGINS" ANYMORE (AFTER I AT LEAST SAW ROMULUS) I DROPPED IT. THEY SHOULD MAKE HIM JAMES HOWLETTS GRANDFATHER LOL
dellamorte1872 - 11/9/2009, 7:52 AM
ahh, gotcha

i don't follow wolverine regularly, i used to, but i got tired of him being in EVERYTHING. anytime you do that with a character, and you get too many writers doing a certain character, things tend to get diluted and ridiculous. like how wolverine is basically unkillable now. that really annoys the hell out of me, he was never indestructible back in the day. they just went crazy with him. and with the attention Deadpool is getting these days, i'm afraid he's the next casualty. he's in everything now too.
CorndogBurglar - 11/9/2009, 8:56 AM
that's what im sayin...there's so much SNIKT i can take....wolverine needs to be off the avengers once thor returns...he has to stay in x-books....and iron fist needs to reunite with luke cage in avengers also...cuz the team dynamic needs be stepped up!!!

as for deadpool, he is poppin up in all books and it is saturating...jeez....give him a rest now...i luv him but dammit...im tiring....

wolvie needs to return to his killer ways as seen in x-force and as a leader alongside scott and emma in uncanny
Anil Rickly - 11/9/2009, 10:28 AM
namor needs his own book now...cuz he is under-used...a few cameos cant explain his stuff since his atlanteans rose again...and i mean he's in with xmen now...so we know he's in a mess...and also...he is never one to stay in alliances!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/9/2009, 10:30 AM
AS A BTW...the illuminati members have the inifity gems...in case a thanos plot rears its ugly head but i think after annihilation he wud be comin into the cosmic MU before earth..
and also NEW TEASER SHOWS DARK AVENGERS KICKIN THOR'S ARSE??
WHATTTTTTTTTTT
Anil Rickly - 11/9/2009, 10:39 AM
THOR WILL BEAT THE SENTRY, THEN THE VOID WILL EMERGE FINALLY AND HE WILL DEFEAT THE ASGARDIANS.
dellamorte1872 - 11/9/2009, 10:56 AM
i don't think thor could realistically handle the sentry, in all honestly. but it just depends on which sentry shows up to fight. if sentry let loose like he did against hulk during WWH, then thor wouldn't stand a chance. sentry fought hulk to a stalemate, but thor has NEVER been able to beat hulk one on one. and the hulk we saw in WWH is the strongest he's ever been!
CorndogBurglar - 11/9/2009, 11:42 AM
well this thor has all the odinforce at his disposal...so maybe we get thor unleashed like never before dudes!!!!
also i think sentry is gonna be a huge terror later on...it's time to kill bob reynolds after asgard burns..and bring the void on!!!
Anil Rickly - 11/9/2009, 2:23 PM
Corndog - See what I mean? The Identity Disc was a CD-Rom that contained all of the Marvel heroes' secret identities! It was a mini series a few years ago!
JonF - 11/9/2009, 3:30 PM
@ jonf

oh, so the identity disc is the information from all the registered heroes??? well thats kind of cool, but i think the thing on norman's arm is something different, or did the identity disc look like that?? sorry, i've had to take a hiatus from comics now that i have a baby on the way (gotta save money). i stopped reading shortly after dark reign began. i only got into the first few issues of dark reign. which kind of sucks because i was REALLY into it!
CorndogBurglar - 11/9/2009, 5:54 PM
@ jonf

although i'm kind of glad i'm missing the return of cap, at least the story of how he's returning. everything i've read online about it has me pissed off.

cap's death was probably the most well done death in comics history, but i guess this is what we get when a major character is killed off in such a realistic, believable way. you have to come up with some silly nonsense to bring him back, aka magic bullets and his soul being lost in time and whatnot. i was just very disappointed with that idea. if your gonna kill someone off and make it seem so final, then keep him dead. and this is coming from someone who puts captain america in his top 5 all time favorite characters.
CorndogBurglar - 11/9/2009, 6:00 PM
the cap rebirth isnt my fave..esp after such a realistic and needed death...cuz it made the room for bucky to kick ass...and buckycap is wicked...bru did well there...but this rebirth, while it is a good read, is not needed to me...thor is needed, but i feel nick fury and the avengers can battle this threat...i dont support rogers returning but id defn be reading and continue bein a fan...
just like i feel bruce wayne's death was such a cop-out (i hope he stays out for a while cuz dick is a decent bats)...
also @ corn...did stark not dl all the identity info from the disc into his mind, which he deleted now, rendering him comatose and in donald blake's care...hence why he' disassembled currently, making me think that he wont be the iron man in siege but will give armor to rogers...???
Anil Rickly - 11/10/2009, 5:39 AM
Corndog - Congrats on the baby!

The Identity Disc mini-series was released about 5 years ago. It came out waaaay before Dark Reign! It wasn't heavily promoted and slipped under many people's radar! It was speculated that the title was Marvel's attempt to try and compete with DC's Identity Crisis. The disc didn't quite look like the sphere in the illo, but it seems that this picture has been altered! So I don't know what that is! That's my best guess, though!

Quesada definitely sold out by bringing Cap back so soon! His loss left a major void, but that's how it should feel when someone so important to so many dies unexpectedly! At least Thor stayed dead for a significant stretch and his resurrection was plausible within the context of his own title! Mainstream comics are deteriorating into a pablum of predictable cliches!

What's screwed up about how they're bringing Cap back is that Ed Brubaker put such effort into making Steve Rogers a realistic, believeable soldier! Now we've got a seeming intermingling of genres, as Marvel has gone the mystical/sci-fi route to engineer Cap's return! The Cosmic Cube has been used in this fashion in the past, but that approach seems to conflict with the established tone that's been used in Cap's books over the last 8 years!

The one comic book death that really hit me and has never been reversed was that of the Kree Captain Mar-Vell! He and the original Captain Marvel(Shazam!) are my two favorite costumed comic book heroes! This guy was an effective leader and fought with the Avengers on many an occasion back in the 70s! I loved the dynamic he brought to the team -- that was my favorite era in Avengers history!

Since you like Captain America so much, I strongly suggest you check out his 1966 animated series, if you haven't already! The theme song was a classic! "When Captain America throws his mighty shield..."
JonF - 11/10/2009, 2:04 PM
the thor absence was effective cuz it made sense after ragnarok...thus his return as well as the asgardians meant something..and it was plausible...and made us thor fans giddy...JMS did not do a cop out....thor is my fave book of the past 4 years...written by JMS...he rocked it...and step by step he laid the foundation for thor to ascend his throne atop MU again...the rogers return seems too fast paced...they should have waited at least another 2 years...they did not need steve back...it just feels odd...but bru is a genius...so i am hoping he ties steve in well again....but i hope they continue doin bucky justice
