Liev Schreiber On Bringing Back Sabretooth for Wolverine 2!

The actor discusses the possibilty of returning for the sequel, developing the character and his thoughts on Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern...
IGN managed to catch up with X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Liev Schreiber earlier today to ask the actor whether he'll be making an appearance as Sabretooth in Wolverine 2.

The actor revealed that he had literally just had dinner with Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, and that the two had discussed the possibility of somehow bringing back Sabretooth for a cameo even though he admitted he doesn't recall Sabretooth appearing in the original Japan storyline on which the film will be based.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Schreiber went on to say that he loves Victor Creed and expressed great interest in getting the opportunity to reprise the role in the sequel or another future film in order to explore how the character evolved from his version to the Tyler Mane version seen in 1999's X-Men.

He finished by admitting that he's a huge comic book fan, and mentioned how excited he is to see his friend, Ryan Reynolds, take on the role of Green Lantern. Apparently, the Green Lantern star doesn't get excited about much but is "really excited" about the film.

Lets see him go from being Origins' Sabretooth and transform into the comics Sabretooth (wit longer hair).... Not that fake look Tooth from X1

Lets rewrite X-Men movie history....
telavizion - 3/9/2010, 12:27 PM
I'd prfer if Reynolds was excited about Deadpool!!!
ElBicho - 3/9/2010, 12:27 PM
Smells like they are about to Fox up Wolie 2.
weapon925 - 3/9/2010, 12:28 PM
...sigh, Schreiber was the best part of Origins.

No cameo please, more Liev!
NightmareB4 - 3/9/2010, 12:28 PM
p.s. Tyler Mane should have looked sumthin close to how Sabretooth looks in that pic up there. Tyler had the height, but Liev had a true look of Sabretooth (short haired tooth [long haired tooth always looked better])
telavizion - 3/9/2010, 12:28 PM
As long as we don't get another grunting imbecile like Tyler Mane's Sabertooth, I'm good. But Schreiber was fantastic as Creed, hopefully he comes back, even for a cameo.
InTylerWeTrust - 3/9/2010, 12:29 PM
Liev Schreiber was the best part of Origins by far. I hope he gets more than just a cameo in the next one....
TheCraz - 3/9/2010, 12:32 PM
Have him return with a decent script and fans might be satisfied.
supermarioworldE - 3/9/2010, 12:32 PM
I'm pretty sure he's excited for Deadpool too since he's been trying to help get him onscreen but Green Lantern is a bigger project and if it were me, I'd be more psyched about it too. Especially after the Blackest Night event which has done really well.
GreenLanternSector2814 - 3/9/2010, 12:34 PM
REBOOT!!
superheromoviefan - 3/9/2010, 12:37 PM
Only decent thing in BORIGINS !!!

Great find @ JOSH m'man!!

Wouldn't mind him in DEADPOOL either!
LEEE777 - 3/9/2010, 12:37 PM
Good stuff Josh.

They could do a flashback scene with a fight or setting up something for the overall story. That would work.
DogsOfWar - 3/9/2010, 12:40 PM
The perfect screen Sabretooth would be Mane's version's look, with Schreiber's performance and attitude. And if I ever see their crappy version of Juggernaut again, I think I'll puke!
Nemesys - 3/9/2010, 12:52 PM
To tell the truth...if they would have dyed Live hair a sandy blond and even had it about the lenth of Jackmans hair...

They wouldnt need to explain much about how he got bigger. It could be explained as he just mutated a little. but lookint totaly different makes people go Huh???
vonstallin - 3/9/2010, 12:56 PM
Liev did Sabretooth real justice in his portrayal. I wouldn't be too afraid of not seeing him in pt.2 based on Sabretooth not being in the japan arc from the comics, since when has hollywood stayed true to an entire comic book storyline? they know his character was dead on, so they'll take some liberties, and include him. just wondering if they'll have wolverine fighting the Hand, or silver samurai.
rolanddeschain - 3/9/2010, 12:56 PM
i loved liev in the movie! if they bring him back, have him look MORE like the hairyass sabretooth!!!!
HelaGood - 3/9/2010, 1:02 PM
god yes i hope he comes back he was pretty cool in the movie
Marvel Rules - 3/9/2010, 1:06 PM
I think its funny how actor's all qualify themselves now by saying, "yeah! I'm a huge comicbook fan!"

Whereas just a few years ago, the genre was sneered at from one say, "The geeks are taking over the world". Which was shared by other elitist jerks.

We can't know for sure who is being honest with claims like that, but one thing can be known;
They'll follow the money. These people are whores.

Phinehas - 3/9/2010, 1:11 PM
Good news...he was the best part of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

P.S.- "X-Men" came out in 2000, not 1999.
TonyDark - 3/9/2010, 1:12 PM
they can fit sabertooth into the japan storyline.

you don't was a strict adaptation anyway. theres definately room for creed there
OdinsBeard - 3/9/2010, 1:12 PM
Cheers guys! :)

He was one of the only good things about a pretty poor movie so I'd be more than happy to see him return! Still, this is Fox so I'm not getting myself too excited that Wolverine 2 will be any more than average!

TYLER: "As long as we don't get another grunting imbecile like Tyler Mane's Sabertooth" - LMAO, completely agree man!
JoshW - 3/9/2010, 1:15 PM
Yeah Reynolds should be more excited bout Deadpool :)
Shocker - 3/9/2010, 1:30 PM
They can have him in Japan as long as Wolverine doesn't see him. Though, Logan did seem to kinda recognize his scent in the 1st film. Now, I'd love if they made a Sabertooth film and showed how he went from Liev to Tyler and joined Magneto. You know, they should, actually, make Mystique show up in a Sabertooth film. Maybe give them a romance and hint at Graydon creed.

@TonyDark: I agree. I really liked him as Victor.

JJMeylar - 3/9/2010, 1:35 PM
I have mixed feelings about that movie. tried to watch it like it was an alternate timeline or whatever, but it stilled pi$$ed me the phuck off. GIVE MARVEL BACK THEIR CHARACTERS!!!!!!
FreaK - 3/9/2010, 1:35 PM
i'm interested in seeing how faithful the sequel will be to the Japan saga.
from what i've read about it, if Fox manages to get even 20% of it right, the film will be epic!

yo guys don't forget to check out my spider-man fan fic in the believe it or not Fan Fic Section!!!!
Wadey09 - 3/9/2010, 1:41 PM
Yea this guy was great in Wolverine and pretty much everything else he's been in.

I'd like to see him get an even bigger CBM role though, maybe as a batman villain or something like that. I could see him being great as a superhero too though, just not sure which one.
JaySin420 - 3/9/2010, 1:53 PM
great news i would love to see him turn from victor to sabretoothe and explain what happened. i would also love to see wolverine go up against omega red, silver samuria, and sauron.also gambit needs a origins film, and a role in x-4,and bring back cyclops, colossus, iceman, nightcrawler, angel, beast, rogue, storm, gambit, and wolverine,professor-x,mystique,sabretoothe,juggernaut,pyro,multipleman,glob herman, and add beak, angel salvador, husk, chamber, anole, rockslide, tito bohusk, prosimian, orb weaver, sinister, and apocalypse. and do a sentinel story for first class.love the x-men films wish we had more news on them inhumans, namor, silver surfer, and the avengers characters captain america, ironman, hulk, and giantman.
1chris2 - 3/9/2010, 1:54 PM
FOX strikes again!

I like Liev, he is the perfect choice for the real Sabertooth.

But honestly, how does he go from Liev Schriber to tyler Mane. I don;t understand.

Explain FOX, EXPLAIN!

Hey everyone, check out my awesome X-Men stories, they continue from where the originals left off and correct all of the continuity errors X-3 made, except Sabretooth, I may have to do X-men 1st Class to fix that one...

Anyway here are the links!

X Men 4
X-Men 5

HAWK out
THEHAWK - 3/9/2010, 2:03 PM
maybe they'd show stryker catching him and manipulating his mind as the first mastermind expt...then magneto breaks him free before the process is complete...and creed shows allegiance by joining the brotherhood...and he loses memory as a result of the mastermind expt...hence he's easily controlled by magneto...and deosnt rem logan
Anil Rickly - 3/9/2010, 2:14 PM
XO:Wolverine was an enjoyable movie to watch, to see the adamantium bonding-process of Wolverine (although I was a bit dissapointed because in X2, Wolverine had a flashback of this bonding-process and his escape was all bloody and messy, where as in XO it was all sterile with a clean escape, no brutallity whatsoever!!!). Anyhoo, eventhough XO was an enjoyable movie, I wished that they gave more screentime with Jackman & Schreiber to develope the relationship of Logan and Victor, just like in the video below:

Question to all the CBM-readers. Who's your favorite character, Wolverine or Sabretooth?
For me... Sabretooth.
WolfMan84 - 3/9/2010, 2:33 PM
WolfMan84 @ Is that for the movies or comics?? ; D
LEEE777 - 3/9/2010, 2:46 PM
@ LEEE777 - Do you mean the question? If so, then my question is for both movies and comics.
WolfMan84 - 3/9/2010, 3:14 PM
he remebered logan in x-1 thats why he grabbed the dog tag,but had a battle plan and orders to follow from magneto.but bring schrieber back, and have wolverine fight omega red,or at least have omega red in another sequel.
1chris2 - 3/9/2010, 3:20 PM
Well, Wolverine went to Japan to study with Ogun before the whole weapon X fiasco so they've [frick]ed up from day one with time lines. Who cares if Sabretooth shows up. They ass raped themselves into a very tight corner in terms of respecting the source material. So with FOX's X-Universe anything is possible.

Liev did do a great job as Sabretooth. If anyone were to show up from the first film, I'd rather it be him. Chances are they will still throw in characters. Only the [frick]in' toy-heads at FOX use a tent pole movie as a platform to screen test characters in spite of the story, to see how fans react. Gambit and his amazing unbreakable ankles and telekinesis (I assume that's how he made the playing cards float around him). Who had no business at all in there. Deadpool, still surprises me that the horrendous bastardization FOX did warranted enough approval in his "screen test" to green light a solo film.

But they've mentioned they are leaning on the Miller/Claremont mini series. So with that in mind, I expect mutants like Sunfire to show up, because he's Japanese and Logan will be in Japan and someone on the film team may have mentioned that they're little brother said that Sunfire is Yashida too so they have to have him in there now (I'm imitating FOX's train of thought, not my own). And the Silver Samurai will be there and he will be the one who screws things up for Logan and Mariko. His armor will be adamantium too. Yuiko will be completely replaced with Mariko and Silver Samurai will fuse with Lord Shingen so they are one character. The Hand, if they make it into the script, will be comprised of more mutants and be more of a ragtag band of "Wolverine Hunters" with there own unique costumes and powers, giving FOX yet another opportunity to throw in mutants they missed out on showcasing in the X-Men films.

Anything is possible, FOX [frick]in' sucks with their lazy approach to research and decision making. So if Liev does reprise his role, it's the least amount of damage one could hope for with the impending shit-fest that will be Wolverine 2.
WeaponX - 3/9/2010, 3:36 PM
Yeah, he needs to be in Deadpool. Since they already screwed everything up, at least give the fans something. Take the Deadpool from Origins, he regenerates, but is captured and taken to Dept H, gets all crazy, loses the claws and eye beams somehow, I don't care anymore, escapes and then they send Sabertooth after him. They fight, wolverine comes back from Japan, Deadpool is hired to kill him. They all meet again, but done right in costumes or at least something close, especially Deadpool.
It could be cool enough to somewhat make up for the calamities just with a few GOOD fight scenes that look sick. They won't do it though.
Yourdaddydevilandlord - 3/9/2010, 4:13 PM
This is good news Sabertooth was the best part about X men Origin and I dont know why people hate that movie so much i thought it was fine.
SUPERBATSPIDERMAN - 3/9/2010, 4:32 PM
Look guys, you already know that whether Creed appeared in the Japan saga from the comics or not is irrelevant to these people..so why are you even questioning if that will be a factor of Liev's return? If he can do it and they can work his character in they will. They must be aware that his performance in Origins was one of the only things about the film that received pretty much universal fan approval.
RorMachine - 3/9/2010, 4:39 PM
They need to explain how Sabretooth evolved from Origins to X-1. I'm sure there were plenty of fans wondering why Sabretooth didn't look the same. Marvel really needs to pick it up in appearance dept. I'm quite sure there was people wondering why the Hulk didn't look the same either. the casual fans who are not well informed like we are don't really know the word reboot. Marvel needs to stop f**king up these movies so people could invest in one actor, with one look, who continues his, or her work from film to sequel. Having all these reboots, and different looks confuses the shit out of people. What is the casual fan going to think of the new Spiderman going back to high school? Quality control Marvel, and D.C listen when we speak, or complain. We're the ones paying for this shit in money, time, and aggravation.
ASSASSIN666 - 3/9/2010, 4:40 PM
"They need to explain how Sabretooth evolved from Origins to X-1." -ASSASSIN666

No they don't.

Best thing to do at this point would be to just forget X1 ever happened. I think it goes withought saying that there wasn't a whole lot of thought put into that first X-Men movie.
magic8 - 3/9/2010, 5:14 PM
Im sure fan was glad he didnt look the same... Im startin to believe that ya'll had no problems wit the eye brows of Tooth from X1....

How could ya'll wanna see a transformation to that? Nothin about that was sabretooth... There was no need for them to screw up his look... They made up for it with Liev's look for Sabretooth.
telavizion - 3/9/2010, 5:48 PM
thres no need to have him back,no point even with a cameo,
if we need to know the transition he took for orgins to x 1,
it should be done in another way,

wolverine 2 should be about the japan story and...this is a chance to focus on sunfire and silver samuria.

would be nice to have a good story but all that matters to me is logan getting having his mask outfit and really going to berserker mode,
Rolanddeschain19 - 3/9/2010, 5:57 PM
Magic8- Are you high? X-1, and X-2 are two of the best made comic movies, even if there was no yellow spandex for you to get hard over. I think I'm going to forget your nonsense comment ever happened.
ASSASSIN666 - 3/9/2010, 7:21 PM
The problem of having 'Tooth in Wolvie 2 is you have to erase Wolvie's mind again at the end of the film because at X-Men 1 it seems like Wolverine has just met Sabertooth. And Liev's my bitch...
01 - 3/9/2010, 9:56 PM
do the new ,not the same s***t
T800 - 3/10/2010, 4:14 AM
Just stop connecting Wolvie part 4 to the first 3 Wolvie movies.... If they go along with this "First Class" bull shyt, then they'll probably connect that to Origins movie. Clearly some of those kids would be ur First Class students. Just look at Origins to be the start of the franchise's reboot.
telavizion - 3/10/2010, 4:23 AM
WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME IT WAS VICTOR?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
sirbonesalot - 3/10/2010, 4:25 AM
ASSASSIN666,

All of the X-movies have been complete ASS.

Shit casting. Shit writing. Shit f/x. Lack of costumes is the least of those movies problems.

magic8 - 3/10/2010, 6:54 AM
@ magic8 thats not completely true x-men 2 is one of the best comic book films ever.
i admit they did tone down wolverines violent nature, but it was not complete ass.
as for wolverine 2 they're going to F*** up this like they f***** up the first film.
expect guest stars galore.
deadpool72 - 3/10/2010, 8:49 AM
Agreed. This guy was the best part of Wolverine: X-Men Vaginas.
bropous - 3/10/2010, 12:11 PM
like the movie and he played a great sabretooth

WolfMan84-sabretooth in the movie and in the comic iceman

flames809 - 3/10/2010, 2:19 PM
Ya know when he was cast , i had my doubts , But after the thing came out , He turned out to be the best thing in it.
Bring him in , Who care's anymore if he's not in the frank miller storyline , He can act and that's what matters , considering how Droll the Last movie was , he'd be a good catylist in ANY Wolverine Movie !!
