In a recent interview with Total Film, the actress talked more about her role in X-Men: First Class, describing the different version of the character we'll see in the movie: "The Mystique we know from the original X-Men is a confident, strong, powerful woman. But in this film she’s a kind of insecure girl, who’s discovering herself, her sexuality and her opinion of things."

"It starts as a little crush on Magneto," she said when quizzed about how Mystique eventually comes around to the classic villains way of thinking, "but then I start to like his view of the world."

And in news which will please many comic book fans, Lawrence confessed that she's been doing plenty of research into the characters comic book origin, "I'm still reading it..." And if that wasn't enough, she's also been closely studying the performance of Rebecca Romijn from the last three films, "She has a very specific walk!"

Learning that her stunt double would be handling most of the action sequences after weeks of intense training also left the Oscar Nominated actress with mixed feelings: I was like, ‘Grrr!’ But I guess it meant less time wearing the make-up, so I wasn’t too disappointed."

X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, later this year!

Nice find. (:
so by discovering her 'sexuality' I guess it means she'll be making out with a girl. Fanboys will be pleased.

first of all, not every guy likes women making out.. It is gross.

Second of all, This is not X-Men. The more I read about this movie the more my blood boils.

@josh good find dude...she really is a beautiful actress...just look at her oscar's red carpet pics. her makeup for the film is just terrible. nd her wardrobe, from what we've seen, isnt much better.

You know, they keep changing the stories and characters maybe Marvel will finally take the rights to the franchise back and they will reboot the X-Men. (fingers crossed) http://geekcinemareviews.wordpress.com/

Meh. 'Ol "Lazy Eye" bugs me. P.S. AZAZEL: "You WILL have my BABY! And if its born with a lazy eye, so help me God..."

@jymevans- Now, don't you think that if all Marvel had to do was get annoyed with Fox Studios handling of the X-Men characters and storylines and just "take the rights to the franchise back," they would have done this a loooooong time ago? Fox OWNS the movie rights to X-Men. They would have to SELL them back to Marvel, and considering X-Men is a huge cash cow for Fox, this ain't happening for a long time dude. C'mon, man. Think before you type.

@jymevans I'm a gay male & EVEN I like seeing chicks make out. Well, HOT chicks at that not porkers lol Rebecca Romijn was a hot femme fatale as Mystique in the X films. Let's see if Jennifer Lawrence can exude some of that.
fadersdream - 4/8/2011, 7:44 AM
marvel CAN'T get the rights back. that's not how it works, there would have to be over a decade of nothing being made. if you need more info on this look into spiderman and development hell, or just see the painful process that led to watchmen being made.
mikesinuman - 4/8/2011, 10:52 AM
If THOR make a big big success, i hope MARVEL/DISNEY should get the rights back to Sony, then make a TOTAL reboot with better castings, and a much base/true from the source. a short Wolverine with a mask, a young jean for scott, a much better looking gambit, rouge, a better juggernaut, etc. etc.
blazingkidtes - 4/8/2011, 11:11 AM
well if the story is the first time they all met and if it is kind of a love trangle with magento and mystique then im ALL IM 4 IT so nightcrawer is mags son oh shit
TruePunishment - 4/8/2011, 11:22 AM
Hate to break it to you mikesinuman but Fox owns the rights not Sony. As far as your wish, not going to happen.
jazzum - 4/8/2011, 11:33 AM
and we all know FOX has no idea what to do with anything comic book related.....its like a bunch of old men trying to reinvent "hip"...

ELgUaSoN, that was a really nice picture, I liked it.
fullmetal - 4/8/2011, 12:23 PM
@ jymevans..it may be gross to some people but for me it's just stupid if they are doing it to turn other men on...i'd rather have two girls kiss me!! i wish they would just put a small skull on her forehead for once!
fullmetal - 4/8/2011, 12:24 PM
i'd like to add...mystique is bisexual so it wouldn't suprise me..and jennifer's cheeks are sooo chubby it's cute...it's going to be hard for me to percieve her as intimidating...she better be a good actress...
SanDevil77 - 4/8/2011, 12:31 PM
@fullmetal she is a talented actress, she was nominated for an oscar this year for winter's bone. haven't seen her in anything else but she was good in that.
CherryBomb - 4/8/2011, 3:35 PM
She would devour any man and woman ... and they would die very very happily

flames809 - 4/8/2011, 3:50 PM
fullmetal- she a good actress and she is not chubby idk what you mean by chubby but from the look of that pic cherry put she aint chubby, so stop trying to find every lil thing u dnt like about the filmso you can say it sucks, yea is not the original five, nor is first class but they got the characters right and good story and great actors/actress and great director and a good trailer.
bilthebullet - 4/8/2011, 7:55 PM
@flames809- I see what fullmetal is talking about. He didn't say she was chubby, he said she has chubby cheeks. I don't think her cheeks are chubby, but they are definitely rounder than Rebecca Romijn's cheeks.
