We now have an HD version of the final few seconds of the show. (simply click on the link to head on over to You Tube if it doesn't play. And thanks to some of the users on the Super Hero Hype forums, we also have some screengrabs featuring Clark Kent as Superman.

Recorded footage from the finale is already showing up on the internet, and while I'm sure we'll see a much better quality versions in the next few hours, here are a few of the first. Needless to say, if you've not seen the episode yet, you might want to turn away now!

Unfortunately, the scene which takes place in The Daily Planet (featuring a few neat little easter eggs) is currently nowhere to be found, but these are all the Superman relevent excerpts from the finale.

Yes, that's really how it ended. As you can probably just about tell, the Smallville finale basically amounted to a tiny CGI Superman and not a single proper look at Tom Welling in the full suit. What did you think of this disappointing finale? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

IT..WAS...AWESOME!!!! Was disappointed by the whole battle with Darkseid though. That's to be expected when it comes to CW produced battle scenes though. The rest of it was still great, and I'll cherish the series forever! :D

The Smallville Finale was a good ending to the show. Could have been better, but would have needed a much bigger budget then CW can offer.

IT SUCKED!!! It may have had its moments put it failed on so many levels. 30 seconds of fighting against darkside??? Green arrow taking out 3 of dark sides minions. With one shot. The fact that he was the only other hero besides Clark they showed. The cheesy clip show. I was expecting something a little more. Guess not.

(SPOILER ALERT)
Yeah HE FREAKIN FLEW! It was pretty awesome. My sister and my Gf were crying at the end. I was shocked myself, because I only thought superman would appear for like a second, but you got to see him for about 5 mins. A Very emotional ending.
The only complaint was the battle with Darkseid, all he had to do is fly through him. I expected Darkseid to appear in human form. But John Glover pulled it off.
Recorded it in my DVR to watch it whenever I want:p

There are many variations to the Superman mythos. Smallville was its own universe. There is Earth one and two and many more. Each universe comes across differently. Smallville characters were different because it was its own universe. I loved the finale. It ended so perfectly for its own universe. Yet, it also, tied in with other cannons. I will sincerely miss this show. I honestly have no other show that I followed so closely. Thank you cast and crew for making us remember what hope really is.

I liked the episode quite a bit. Not exactly how I expected it, but oh well. He should have just worn the costume instead of a CGI version. I don't understand that decision at all.

R.I.P. Smallville. It was a fun & interesting journey! :)

Please Grif, have a heart. I was mildly disappointed in the ending of this series. The Jon Williams score should have played a bigger role when he was reliving his trials and accepting the suit from his "my two dads." But overall it was good. Most of Welling in the suit was from a distance, but it is clear that they used the "S" from Returns. At least they put an "S" back on the cape. Pretty good though, I guess.

What a badly written pile of crap.

Why did everyone run out of the chapel just because Clark said "get everyone out of here". I would of been like "what?"

All he had to do to defeat Darkseid was fly through him? What the [frick]!

His last battle was against Apokolips. He pushes it, shrugs, and the flies back to earth. I'm embarrassed.

Oh yeah, and Oliver and Chloe? seriously?

I only like the fact that Lex was in it, and that's about it.

I only watched the last 20 minutes, but this finale was basically a disappointing ending to what will surely forever be remembered as a mostly bad TV show. Yes, it had its moments (along with some really fantastic episodes here and there) but this sums it all up really. A tiny, fully CGI Superman and not a single proper shot of Clark Kent in the suit. Throw in the ridiculously cheesy last few minutes, and this was a complete and utter waste of a decade. They couldn't give us a single live action shot of him standing there in the costume? I'm not sure whether there's a reason for that or they just couldn't afford one.

Goodbye Smallville. Thank [frick] you're finally gone.

I think for it being the finale we were short changed. I don't mind the whole wedding shit, Lex losing his memory, weak Darkseid representation...IF IF they would had [frick]ing shown TW in the [frick]ing suit. Not no CGI, not far away shots, [frick] that. I don't think it takes a scientist to figure it out but I truly believe the suits at WB tied their arms and said no full view of the suit.

At the end I believe that's what happen, so they had to compensate and show cgi footage.

I did like the whole kent family moments, I bet when it was being filmed they were all choked up.

Dude, ever heard of "spoiler alert"? not everyone has seen the finale. Don't spoil it man. But yeah, I do agree with you on those points. The first half felt a little long and dragged, but I personally thought it had a decent ending.

NOW FOR THE MAN OF STEEL IN 2012!!

SPOILER ALERT

Other then the Lex Luthor scenes/moments in the "Finale"

Everything else just sucked.there was to many Superman returns poses towards the end which pissed me off, and Welling not wearing a suit, but his face pasted on a CGI animated suit which to me was a F@ck u too myself and other fans who stayed with this show 4 so long. I think what really pissed me off is the fact the show made Superman move a F@cking planet away from earth, That to me was a WTF moment.

@demonhunter15 exactly dude!! It's a TV SHOW, not a freakin movie. And it's on the CW, it's not like it has the budget of a big time network. I thought it was a pretty good episode. Kinda pissed they didnt show Tom in the suit in that space shot, and only showed his head, but whatever. I thought it was pretty awesome finally seeing him fly and get the suit.
