Jailed Wesley Snipes Interested In Reprising The Role Of Blade; "Under The Right Circumstances"

Talking to IGN Movies from behind bars, Wesley Snips has once again expressed interest in reprising the role of Marvel's Blade. Talking about the importance of the movies in his opinion and what would convince him to come back to the character, here are a few excerpts from the sites interview. Click on the link below to read it in full. With the rights now back in the hands of Disney owned Marvel Studios, I'd say that this is VERY unlikely, but what do you think? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

"It would be nice to fulfil some of the really cool plans we had for Blade, but didn't get the chance to go live with."

"Some people forget or overlook my/our contribution to this current trend. The 'Gaming' community knows and the streets give us credits, but the movie world frequently plays us like the 'ugly step child' or the 'kitchen help', especially when the conversation revolves around the 'boys in tights' or 'the bat'.

"Getting asked this question all the time, my response is: 'Under the right circumstances, with the right team, yes, I'd do another one.' But don't get me wrong, I'm not waiting around for the opportunity. I've got plenty to do, plus an unravelled character in the works who I think will give Blade a helluva run for his money."

BRING ON BLADE!
PaulRom - 8/11/2011, 7:54 AM
Since Marvel will more than likely make their Blade a reboot, I don't see the point of bringing Snipes back. Besides, there's plenty of actors who should have a chance at playing Blade (not saying Snipes wasn't excellent in the role though).
marvel72 - 8/11/2011, 8:04 AM
marvel won't have him back, they'll reboot it with someone else.start of a brand new blade trilogy.
SeaSerpentine - 8/11/2011, 8:09 AM
He did good, but I would like to see a version of Blade closer to the comics.
ThaMessenger07 - 8/11/2011, 8:09 AM
Marvel would use him if given the opportunity. He was a huge part of the first stone set to achieve Marvel Studios. I doubt they would exclude him. Not to mention he is much more affordable.
ThaMessenger07 - 8/11/2011, 8:10 AM
P.S. I hope we don't get a version closer to the comic. Cause Blade comics are inconsistent and sometimes just awful.
stoneywhite - 8/11/2011, 8:12 AM
if they can replace ed norton they can replace snipes
nuck82 - 8/11/2011, 8:12 AM
doe she mean for the right money? this guys hasnt done shit in years, the only movie he can get is this role lol so stop acting like anyone wants you for there movie
Greengo - 8/11/2011, 8:12 AM
Unravelled? Wonder what that meant. He should do another "Gringos can't jump" or "Passenger 58"
Monrogue - 8/11/2011, 8:15 AM
Snipes was awesome as Blade, but I don't know what kind of shape he's in nowadays. If Marvel does reboot and start a new trilogy of Blade, they'd probably be better off to go with someone new as Snipes must be getting up in age, and starring in a new trilogy may not be possible for him at this point.
pwalker03 - 8/11/2011, 8:16 AM
under the right circumstances means tax free paydays
Ric - 8/11/2011, 8:17 AM
plus an unravelled character in the works? bring BLACK PANTHER now!!!!!!!!!!
Dedpool - 8/11/2011, 8:17 AM
I want Michael Jai White to take the role. Wesley did his thing but Michael Jai would be sick!
DukeAcureds - 8/11/2011, 8:18 AM
To reboot this would be a ridiculous mistake. The Blade movie did something that no other CBM has achieved (Although Superman - The Movie and Batman come kind of close), it stays faithful to the comics whilst completely re-inventing the character for the better. The Blade movie is directly responsible for who the character of Blade is today. A reboot is not neccasary, at all. Marvel should just do another Blade film with either Wesley Snipes as Blade or David Goyer on writing duties, to mantain continuity with the New Line trilogy. Obviously, they can't have both. I think that was what Snipes meant, when he said "the right people"> There is no way on this planet that you would get them two together again, in any capacity (with the exception of a courtroom, perhaps).
comicNERD1031 - 8/11/2011, 8:19 AM
they'll replace him... he's been out of the movie world for to long and marvel would wont a "hipper" lead charactor
bazaboy241 - 8/11/2011, 8:22 AM
Shut up wesley your in jail for a reason.......... For being a gay vampire lover with a fetish for leather.
MrSuperheromoviefan - 8/11/2011, 8:24 AM

reboot
spiderneil - 8/11/2011, 8:25 AM
bring it on. even if snipes is old the movie can be a commentary on blade getting older but the vamps staying young.
spiderneil - 8/11/2011, 8:26 AM
for the people advocating michael jai white, you HAVE seen the guy act, right? he's TERRIBLE!!
cable23 - 8/11/2011, 8:28 AM
@bazaboy241 Hes in jail for tax evasion. So your comment is filled with..
JackBauer - 8/11/2011, 8:29 AM
"Under the right circumstances"? You mean, like, getting paid?

That's what I tell my wife this morning when she woke me up and asked me if I was going to work today. "Under the right circumstances". Morning BJs are great ;)

DarthDan - 8/11/2011, 8:34 AM
Exactly Bauer.... PAY ME BITCHES!!!!!!!!!
Slider13 - 8/11/2011, 8:43 AM
He's got plenty to do? Do what, more time? It's obvious this guy needs a payday in the biggest way. Uncle Sam will be garnishing all wages until the debt is wiped clean.
eleven59 - 8/11/2011, 8:47 AM
"under the right circumstances" meaning the whole movie has to take place in a jail
Narcus - 8/11/2011, 8:47 AM
About a month ago I checked all three Blade movies again, and I was thinking Wesley Snipes should really do a fourth (but only with a kickass story)!!
thunderforce - 8/11/2011, 8:48 AM
The next Blade will sign a cheap 8 or 9 picture deal for Marvel so I doubt he is coming back .
redsoxdude - 8/11/2011, 8:52 AM
^^ LMAO @JackBaurer
Monrogue - 8/11/2011, 9:00 AM
RamonSuarez-you make a good point and I agree. Snipes was awesome as Blade as I said earlier, and he definitely nailed it. I loved Blade 2, speaking of which, I need to watch that again sometime soon. I haven't watched that in ages.
Deadshot - 8/11/2011, 9:07 AM
More like don't drop the soap around Blade!
By the way Snipes IS blade and there should be a fourth.

Why did it post it twice?... Ever seen this site took away the ability to delete and edit your comments its been doing this.
krooklyndodger - 8/11/2011, 9:15 AM
Snipes was the man. The operative word.."was". I liked Stinky Fingas from Onyx in the short-lived series. And I give Snipes tons of credit for Blade. I loved all the 3 movies. But it's time for another reincarnation or re-imagining of the character. Not too mention, Snipes is kinda played out a lil' bit old for the character now.
THABATMAN - 8/11/2011, 9:22 AM
@Nuck,

just saying he was in a movie last year.. Brooklyn's Finest
THABATMAN - 8/11/2011, 9:22 AM
But it would be cool to see him come back as blade
MoumentheBatman - 8/11/2011, 9:25 AM
'boys in tights' or 'the bat'. !!!!??

is he [frick]ing kidding?! he makes a great Blade and all but is he really in a psoition to diss other characters?? or anyone else for the matter?
LucasMend - 8/11/2011, 9:26 AM
he´s too old already, and marvel will reboot it.
Viking - 8/11/2011, 9:26 AM
Yes give us a Blade 4! And have Blade in the Avengers 2 =D
MrSuperheromoviefan - 8/11/2011, 9:28 AM
@KNIGHT3000 - you do know that Whistler isn't a comic character, right? He was created in the 90s Spider-Man animated series
StrangerX - 8/11/2011, 9:30 AM
Wesley is a great actor, and he's been in other projects after Blade. I honestly don't see him taking the role up again though since Marvel might move forward with something before he gets out. I just hope they keep the same tone as the other movies.
Herosave - 8/11/2011, 9:45 AM
If only...I'd like him to have another go with it in this Marvel Cinematic Universe. He may not get to run into any other heroes now, but he may run into ones in the future for whatever reason, like Dr. Strange in a cool little team-up. Who knows, maybe he'd make an ideal character in a Black Panther movie if not Black Panther himself.
