UPDATE 2: Mysterious Alien Spacecraft Spotted On The Set Of The Avengers!

Filming hasn't started quite yet on the Cleveland set of The Avengers, but what appears to be a partially built (or destroyed) spaceship has been spotted, and you can check it out by hitting the jump...

Speculation that The Avengers would be facing off against aliens in the upcoming movie has been running rampant for a very long time, with recent set photos featuring actors in motion capture costumes and wielding strange looking weaponry seemed to confirm it. Well, the latest "alien" related clue comes in the form of what appears to be a spacecraft! Many thanks to Twitter's @Mary082864 for the following image.

Using the Srulls or Atlanteans first would be lame sauce for the first chapter. Marvel has proven to always be thinking farther ahead than we give them credit for. The CGI outfits could be used for the same reasons as Green Lantern's film. Not because they "need to" per say. Plus, aren't the Kree like 7 feet tall? CGI could fix that don't you think? The weapons are very Kree like and i wouldn't be surprised if Whedon AND Marvel wished to incorporate the best female superhero since Wonder Woman in their movieverse; Ms Marvel. The Kree could be needing the cosmic cube to win their homeworld war against the Skrulls and Loki could use that to attempt to destroy Thor and The Avengers. After all, Fury IS in posession of the cube at the moment. And it could set up a pretty epic Kree/Skrull war overspill on Earth for the sequel. Hell, throw in the Atlanteans in there becoming allies with humans against their will for the preservation of the planet. It just makes sense.

Maby this is how Thor gets back to Earth, maby he crash lands, SHIELD not relising its him send Cap, radio contact is lost, Cap and Thor fight (Didn't Hemsworth say the Avangers would beat each other up?), before they can kill each other SHIELD arrive and they both stand down. Could explain Cap and Thor having respect for each other.

The weaponry looks for futuristic in terms of the Kree whereas the Skrull had more simplistic weapons. Also would it be that bad on its budget to have the mo cap actors wearing some form of Skrull attire, the suits or even the fake chins?

Since DC can't get the ball rolling on Wonder Woman, Ms Marvel is the next best thing. And Whedon LOVES strong female protagonists. He spent the better part of his life working on one. It would only make sense for him to be pushing the character forward and for Marvel to accept it.

Black Widow can't hold her own film next to the likes of Thor, Ironman and Captain America. I mean seriously, she doesn't have what it takes.
