Another aircraft accident. The statistics that say Flying is safer are becoming more and more less convincing.
Silence1453 - 8/22/2011, 6:15 PM
Are we sure that Superman can fly, I'm not seeing a whole lot of consistancy in air safety here...
Chelshirecat - 8/22/2011, 6:17 PM
JDUKE@

i lol'd.

Thanks

I spy a 7-11. I predict Superman Slurpees in a couple of years.

I wonder if this 7-11 will blow up as well? 7-11's are becoming something like the Star Trek "red shirts" of the CBM world.
Dynamo - 8/22/2011, 6:34 PM
@EastcoastAvenger

Yeah, they built it just to blow up it. It's rigged with explosives as we speak. :D
WellDrawn - 8/22/2011, 6:38 PM
He was busy saving the Space Shuttle.
mikesinuman - 8/22/2011, 6:46 PM
hmm, why is it that after i saw the first pic of cavill in that scaly, bizarro like color costume, i'm no longer interested with this Man of Steel.
JDUKE25 - 8/22/2011, 7:00 PM
@mike Not sure, why is it some people lose their appetite when they see a delicious juicy steak? Weird and crazy world we live in.
reverendjonnynemo - 8/22/2011, 7:02 PM
Hah ha! "Remember, statistically speaking, flying is still the safest way to travel."
JDUKE25 - 8/22/2011, 7:05 PM
@Nephillim it's possible. I always thought however Zod and them got there, that when they first arrived they shouldn't be able to use their abilities that well and be able to control them. Supes has had his whole life to do this. That's one thing I didn't like about Superman 2.
SamHell - 8/22/2011, 7:08 PM
@EastcoastAvenger,,likin your avatar. That book is one of my most prized possesions that and my Cindy Crawford Playboy edition
JDUKE25 - 8/22/2011, 7:22 PM
@Nephillim yeah, I think Superman early on should have the upper hand on them all physically, but seeing as how he's a general he'll be able to use his tactical abilities to try and defeat him and by the end of the movie they'll be able to use their powers better making it even harder for Superman making it an even better movie.
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 7:35 PM
This is really cool. I love all the heavy military presence in this movie. I hope...and that is a BIG HOPE that this aircraft crashed and Supes tries to save it but fails to (for whatever reason) which could also play into the public's negative perception of him in this movie- remember everyone...in this Superman movie- the people of Metropolis FEAR Superman, it aint like the happy-go-lucky Donner films. This aircraft incident could just be another reason for them to hate Superman. Maybe also, Zod perhaps knocks it down thus everyone feels that Zod is acquainted with Supes so they naturally blame it on Superman as well.

I like the idea of Superman not necessarily being "beloved by all" in this film. It gives him more to PROVE and makes him seem a little less "perfect"

Kinda makes him more...MARVEL ;D

lol
JDUKE25 - 8/22/2011, 7:42 PM
@Nephillim exactly ;)

@LP4 yeah, I definitely don't want him to be loved by everyone. Realistically, if an alien from another planet revealed himself to the general public I doubt everyone would be accepting to that. I mean he's an ALIEN FROM ANOTHER PLANET!! lol

I can't wait to see these action sequences
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 7:51 PM
@JDUKE- Yeah man, being a realistic film...it just makes more sense for people to fear him and perhaps even...possibly- HATE him. I'd love to see them go to the extent of Superman trying to save people and they spit at him or they get mad at him for touching them when he's attempting to save them.

Something along those lines would add more depth to the film.
thatcoldblackcloud - 8/22/2011, 8:07 PM
Yipee! Superman VS a plane crash again! Cant wait!! > >
thatcoldblackcloud - 8/22/2011, 8:10 PM
@LP4: so basically you want them to turn Superman into Spider- man? Are you sure you're a Superman fan? Because part of who Supes is, is being the hero everyone loves because he's an honest to god good guy.

Here you want him to be hated? Maybe you should switch your avatar to one of Peter Parker, neh?
NeoBaggins - 8/22/2011, 8:11 PM
It's a time warp pass. When the Plane rips in Superman returns, the pieces fall into Man of Steel.
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 8:13 PM
@ThatCOLDblackCLOUD- Yes I'm a Superman-fan. I think everyone on this site knows that even. As for me wanting Superman to be hated for once, what's the big deal? Realistically as JDUKE put it- people SHOULD fear Superman, he's a [frick]ing alien.

Please don't come at me about fan this or fan that. I've been on this site for OVER A [frick]EN YEAR and I've posted nothing but Superman comments and articles and had only Superman-avatars. He's my favorite Superhero. Wanting him to be hated in the movie has nothing to do with Spider-Man and the fact he's hated in his world. It's only because I want a REALISTIC MOVIE PERSPECTIVE ON SUPERMAN. And REALISTICALLY he'd be feared and hated.
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 8:21 PM
Oh and furthermore @ThatCOLDblackCLOUD- Superman has always been the goodie/goodie hero that everyone can trust and believe in. But part of the approach for this film is to set it completely APART from everything before it. It's a re-imagining of Superman. Hence why they're going to make people fear him in this movie. If you want to cling to old stuff, cling to the donner crap.

And yeah, the comics i read most of are Superman. My knowledge on Superman is vast- Did you know he has an ability where he can see the spirit of someone dying, leave their body- hence WHY he values life so much? Did you know Superman knows Kryptonian martial arts? I know my Superman-shit. And what's so bad about taking the Spider-Man approach with Superman. They're using the same goddamn material for his suit as Spider-Man's. Plus the Spider-Man approach could really help to make this an actual REBOOT.

Damn even when i post nice comments people still wanna debate my fanhood on here. Everyone knows that I'm a huge Superman-fan. There is no mystery in that. Just as they all know JDUKE is a huge Superman-fan. I think we're the most obvious ones on this site.

duh.

GOOD. Maybe others like you will leave a few more seats empty so I people who just want to see a kick ass movie can put their feet up. Lemme guess, you pick your football team(if you know what football is) by the color of it's uniform?
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 8:36 PM
@eaglefreak138- Agreed.
LP4 - 8/22/2011, 9:22 PM
@Splenda- VERY true hahahaha.

@BaneKill- Sadly Superman is only a yellow belt :P
ngachacha - 8/22/2011, 9:29 PM
If Zod has a CGI suit, does that mean Faaora will have one too?
Neno - 8/23/2011, 3:35 AM
HeroComplex, +1 This, more and more reminds me on Superman Returns -_-
JDUKE25 - 8/23/2011, 4:48 AM
Yep, at first when Superman reveals himself people would be amazed at what they're seeing but after all that sinks in, a thought may cross their mind that "What if this is an invasion starting?" and they'll be fearful of him. Then, what do you know, here comes Zod and other Kryptonians causing chaos so their theory that all of these aliens, including Superman, are here to take over seems more and more plausible.

So Superman is going to have to prove to them that he's not here to take over but to protect Earth, and doing heroic deeds and taking out his own kind should prove that to them. They're going for a more realistic feel for this movie so having them fear Superman,( who is an alien from another planet with all of these powers that if he wanted to take over the world he could), makes complete sense. But obviously they won't fear him the whole time, just in the beginning.
Trapdinsteel - 8/23/2011, 5:58 AM
@ThatCOLDblackCLOUD

LP4 is pretty much spot on to the direction DC is taking Superman in Action Comics as illustrated below, so his avatar is just fine as Superman :)

Also, if a tornado has touched down in Kansas that plane could have been thrown from the local airfield close by. It seems like it says "Kansas" in yellow lettering on that brown strip on the wreckage in the first picture.

Interested to see how all of the destruction comes together but trying to fight the urge to look at everything Man of Steel related staying spoiler free!!
JDUKE25 - 8/23/2011, 7:29 AM
Zod again????, oh gosh I can't believe it, they've already used him ONCE nearly 30 years ago, ugh I'm so mad...

Seriously, quit with the dumb, he's already been used, crap. This is a different take on Superman's origin. Yeah let's use Darkseid or Mongol as his first villain he should go up against. That makes no sense at all.

Zod is the best choice for a first villain. It connects with Superman and his home world and seeing as how this is an origin it fits perfectly. How in the world is Zod lame????? He has basically the same powers as Superman, so the fights scenes will be epic.

Idk why people continue to complain. We're getting a Superman film that has nothing to do with DOnner's films, and we're going to get action packed scenes and the movie is being handled by Snyder, Nolan and Goyer. Yeah, that sounds horrible. An absolute "crapfest".

durots - 8/23/2011, 7:33 AM
Just so you know thats a A-10 That could prove to have some cool dog fights between the A-10 and zod
Superman8 - 8/23/2011, 8:49 AM
I hope these experiences haven't put any of you off flying. Statistically speaking, flying is still the safest way to travel.
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 8/23/2011, 9:40 AM
@LP4, I'm also a huge Superman fan and I agree that humanity's first reaction to Supes would be of fear. That would be a natural reaction for most of the human population, not to much hate though. Maybe for some people it would be hate, but not as much as it would be fear. In my experience only the stupid and ignorant hate without having any knowledge of someone or something. The fear by the populace would be another great obstacle for Superman to overcome.
DarkKnight4ever - 8/23/2011, 9:47 AM
HaHa. Another 7-Eleven tie in movie. I used to work for these guys and spot the placements every time. The Thor movie had tie with store showing up in New Mexico town where 7-Eleven stores do not exist. LOL
alexkalel12 - 8/23/2011, 11:15 AM
It's one of the trademarks I guess...
LP4 - 8/23/2011, 11:52 AM
@Trapdinsteel- Thank you so, so very much my friend ;D

I guess some people like that blackcloud guy just don't wanna let go of the past. =D
LP4 - 8/23/2011, 11:54 AM
@SUPERSHADOWBAT- True, it would and should be more fear...but let's say...maybe if the movie were in the real world let's say: Post 9/11

They'd feel more fear and hatred i think. I mean look at the military in this movie- they might be trying to take down Superman. Maybe they don't want Superman (the ultimate weapon) to fall into the hands of foreign terrorists. That could be fear...or hatred...or possibly something in-between =D
DavidR3rd - 8/23/2011, 12:18 PM
There is always an aircaft scene in Superman's life and Lois is always on the plane.
