Talking to Movieline about his new movie, Anonymous, the Welsh actor let slip a few more minor details about what it was like to work on The Amazing Spider-Man, commenting briefly on the story and on what director Marc Webb has brought to the production. The actor recently appeared to reveal the voice he'll be using for the Lizard in the movie, but we're yet to see any sort of image of what he'll look like...unless you count the blurry, unfinished CGI shots from Comic Con.

We’ve seen the fervor growing around the Spider-Man reboot. Are you bracing yourself for the next six to eight months of having that in your life?

No, I just did the gig. If you think about it too much, it just… But of course I’m really proud of it. I haven’t seen it yet, obviously. But again, that was working with Marc Webb. Of course it’s a huge franchise with a massive budget, but essentially for me it was a kind of father-son story and emotionally very domestic. But in terms of the whole publicity machine and all that, I’m kind of excited.

So Marc bring some intimacy to it? Was that the sense you got?

Absolutely. On paper, you’d think, “Oh, what a strange choice.” But it actually makes total sense. He works very quietly with actors, with loving attention to emotional detail. And for a film painted on such a wide canvas, you have to have that forensic-ness to counter the size — to keep kind of an emotional balance in the piece. Hopefully, I think that’s what we’ve achieved. We’ll see.

What do you make of the actors comments? Are you fed up with waiting for Sony to reveal the Lizard?! Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place! And remember, you can check out the interview in full by clicking on the link below.

Good stuff. I really can't wait until this and The Avengers come out, it'll ALMOST feel as if they're connected haha.

I really hope TASM does well, I've been a huge supporter since it was first announced (not being a huge fan of Raimi's series) and I do hope one day Marvel and Sony could work out their issues and just work together.
marvel72 - 10/25/2011, 2:23 PM

TrueRedBlue - 10/25/2011, 2:44 PM
The Spider-Man story is the best because unlike other superheros, it's not about the punches or the kicks, it's actually got a heart and soul to the story. This movie's gonna be incredible!
razor - 10/25/2011, 2:53 PM
This guy always seems to be doing a lot of back peddling when he talks about it. He doesn't seem too into it. I'll see a statement that is a little dismissive of the whole thing then the rest of the comment will be trying to say something to save what he just said.
nuck82 - 10/25/2011, 3:07 PM
YEAH I NEED TO SEE A FIGHTING TRAILER!!! LETS DO THIS SHIT! YO

chuckg313 - 10/25/2011, 5:38 PM
curious about this movie ....i like not seeing too much before it comes out
VIRILEMAN - 10/25/2011, 7:58 PM
I love how the only picture we have of the lizard is all fuzzy and hard to make out. It reminds me of the old big foot film, or the picture of Nessy or something. It adds an element of real myth and mystery. Even more so because the Lizard is a creature and all.
Spectre94 - 10/25/2011, 8:20 PM
Kewl. I wanna see this so bad, but Ifans really seems like he is a total D-BAG
NeoBaggins - 10/25/2011, 8:34 PM
@razor Yeah, I noticed that too. It reminds me of the Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving interviews. The logical thing to do in an interview is play everything up and sell the film that your in. But I think some people are overwhelmed by their own honestly and/or just doesn't get it. Ifan's, like Weaving, wants to do good films that accent their acting ability. The appreciate the geek films but probably dont want to get stuck to them. End the end, you get this; "I haven't seen any footage, I don't know what this shit looks like and I just hope it's good."
pepe - 10/25/2011, 11:25 PM
Ifans is the real anti-hero of Hollywood...
Foxpaw - 10/26/2011, 12:19 AM
i'm so happy catwoman 1 has caught on. takes me back to when i first made the connection...

i think this is a very cool approach to spider-man. lizard has that connection to spider-man none of the other villains do. i hope they're able to capture the jeckle and hide feel. whereby connors is like a father to parker whenever human, and one terrifying monster when all mr hide. but now, will connors be apprehended at the end, or will he try manage his condition to continue helping parker in future stories. lizard really is spider-man's charity case. even though when he's scaly, he tries to kill spider-man, when normal he embraces peter. ifans MUST capture that! and garfield MUST struggle with the dynamic.
NeoBaggins - 10/26/2011, 4:40 AM
@Intruder Really? I was under the impression he was the "actor" of the movie. The stage actor and/or good actor that CBM productions save a special place for to class up the cast. It's Martin Sheen instead of him? Yikes. That's what I get for assuming. If he's the drunk douche you describe him as, the Lizard may be good as I'm hoping. Troubled souls shine through performances.

What has he been in thats good? Ive seen him but cant place him on the spot.
Gusto - 10/26/2011, 7:35 AM
So, getting drunk & beating up
a chick is bad?
PoPcornDude - 10/26/2011, 10:31 AM
