I've been wanting Elba for Bond for over a year. I can't believe there's even a rumor about it now.

I'm indian, I'm not racist. I was born in the UK and as a brit I want Bond to be White.

If anybody should be the next bond it should be Henry Cavill or Michael Fassbender, you only have to look at X-Men: First class to see Fassbender was very Bond-esque in that movie.

Looks like the majority of the people here are Retarded! I wouldn't want to see this shit mainly because Daniel Craig still has many more Bond movies in him to do.The new one hasn't even started filming and people are already speculating on a new James Bond. For Shame!
Give this bullshit a rest. I am sick of seeing reboots, leave 007 out of that. Also, if, IF, they are looking for a new Bond, we need someone fairly young so that someone can do a long run as 007. No more 3-4 and done, on to the next guy. I love the character of Bond. I read all the books, but if they give Craig the shaft I will never give 007 another look again. If people support a new actor, they are only little bitches with no respect for the classic character that the great Ian Fleming created.

I think Elba would make a GREAT Bond, but I totally understand what he means when he says he doesn't want to be known as the "Black James Bond." It does kind of whiff of a novelty play, the producers casting a black actor as Bond. As if they're out of ideas or something.

More interesting, I think, would be to introduce Elba as a major player in the Bond series, perhaps as another British Intelligence agent on par with Bond, and then give him his own spin-off. That way Elba can play a Bond-like character without actually playing Bond himself.

James bond is white and stays white, if they change him up my as well change superman black as well. I'm not racist but this is a character that has been seen as a white man, keep it that way, if you want James bond black then make him 009 or something, a different spy. Simple. There doing these things and thinking about these things because they want to stir some buzz and get people's attention.

Why don't they just make a new character in the Bond Franchise and him be black? I'd want to watch that before he is actually saying "The names Bond, James Bond". Thats just an idea.

I think people forget that Bond is white, Ian Flemming has stated this and he even went as far as commissioning an artist to draw an image of him and Brosnan was the closest resemblance. Bond is of Swiss and Scottish decent, that's his identity. Colour blind casting barely works in one off plays and abstract interpretations...not fully established franchises where a studio is trying to bale itself out of bankruptcy...

You don't see anyone remaking 'Roots' with Jewish people or any other backgrounds cause that's a glimpse at a group's history. Same can be said with remaking 'The Godfather' with any other group but Italians...There have been 3 actors that have played the same character of Vito Corleone just like there have been officially 6 actors that have played the same individual of James Bond. Felix Leiter is a secondary character so our focus isn't on him as all we know of his background is he's american...

Again, colourblind casting barely works in one off plays, not in established film and literary franchises that have 60 years of history behind it...that's not racist, that's just how it is.

Elba is awesome

It won't ruin the franchise - if it doesn't work, and I've no idea why it won't - they can just go back to Caucasian actors. James Bond survived some pretty bad films.
