I mean come on. TDKR for sure.
Dedpool - 11/7/2011, 11:36 AM
Going with the Avengers because nothing on this scale has been done before. It's the movie equivalent of the first issues of the Avengers, or JSA way back when.
WhiteKnight191 - 11/7/2011, 11:43 AM
TDKR will probably win this. But TASM is going to beat Avengers for sure. Spidey is much more popular everywhere in the world.
Theodora - 11/7/2011, 11:44 AM
Come on, The Dark Knight Rises for sure! Everybody knows that, even Avenger fans. I know that as a Avenger fan!
Batman27 - 11/7/2011, 11:44 AM
Who ever voted for Ghost rider is stupid.
aRandomSinisterClone - 11/7/2011, 11:49 AM
That's funny that ghost rider is even listed. Who are the few poor people who voted for em
write33 - 11/7/2011, 11:49 AM
The Dark Knight Rises is the movie to beat. sorry Avengers fans......I think Avengers looks AMAZING, but, you gotta go with box office history. Thor and Cap were solid but not rocking crazy numbers. DK has the fanbase already.
MrWayne - 11/7/2011, 11:51 AM
how could anyone think spiderman, or ghost rider could beat those two movies lol. I can't wait for the avengers, but realistically I don't think it will beat Batman.
BATMAN1X - 11/7/2011, 11:51 AM
@ Catwoman1 I Agree with you.. The Dark Knight Rises will win
RunDTC - 11/7/2011, 11:51 AM
who voted for Ghost Rider?
maximus - 11/7/2011, 11:59 AM
the avengers will win cuz every 1 is been wiating for a long time 4 this movie!!
qainuh - 11/7/2011, 11:59 AM
I think everyone is forgetting one thing. The Dark Knight Rises is the ONLY non- 3D movie in the list, therefore it is already at a disadvantage. For that reason and that reason only the Avengers will win the domestic box office (hope I'm wrong!!!). In terms of worldwide gross it will be close between Amazing Spiderman and Avengers. Look at the numbers POTC4 did worldwide (over 1 billion) because of 3D and it wasn't even as hyped as the Avengers. I think the last non 3D movie to gross over 1 billion is TDK and TDKR will not out gross TDR.
warlock - 11/7/2011, 12:00 PM
Is Aven in 3d, I thought it was in 2D..
qainuh - 11/7/2011, 12:00 PM
...meant TDKR will not outgross TDK
Nubase - 11/7/2011, 12:01 PM
the dark knight rises will win hands down, not because its a comic book movie but non comic book movie fans will go to watch it more than the avengers, 2nd will be spiderman cos that has a huge fan base from the first 3 movies by sam raimi then it will be the avengers.

Marvel fans and l'm one as well, just accept that the dark knight rises will win, the avengers will be a successful movie no doubt but the box office crown will go to tdkr.

And when l mean box office l mean global box office not just some opening weekend.

The avengers will become a total franchise once the dark knight rises is gone cos theres nothing really to compare it too with other comic book movies in the future..well perhaps the man of steel but the avengers sequel is not out in 2013.
TheWingedWonder - 11/7/2011, 12:06 PM
It's a close fight between The Avengers and TDKR, but in the end, I think TDKR will take the cake.
mikefont - 11/7/2011, 12:11 PM
The Avengers will win big, BECAUSE of the sheer scale of this movie.
People are basing their opinions about TDKR because of the popularity AT THE TIME of TDK. I still contend that the Dark Knight (while I liked it) would not have done as well as it did if Heath Ledger would not have died. The news of his death at the time of TDK's release definitely spurred additional ticket sales, IMO.

My prediction:

1. The Avengers
2. TDKR
3. Amazing Spiderman
4. Ghost Rider
Cheesehead - 11/7/2011, 12:12 PM
I think Spider-Man is a big dark horse. I voted Avengers due to the 3D and the fact that the trailer on I-Tunes was record breaking. All these movies should do week though.
Sanderman - 11/7/2011, 12:15 PM
@qainuh i dont think the 3D will matter. TDK made a billion and it never had 3D and plus they will be selling it in IMAX which cost more than seeing a 3D movie
Joemanimator - 11/7/2011, 12:15 PM
As far as money goes, I would bet on TDKR but I am truly looking forward to Avengers and TASM. Ghost... maybe on DVD...
Cheesehead - 11/7/2011, 12:15 PM
*well
whoelsebutkevin - 11/7/2011, 12:18 PM
@Quainuh

"I think everyone is forgetting one thing. The Dark Knight Rises is the ONLY non- 3D movie in the list"

You gotta be an idiot to think that The Dark Knight Rises is at a disadvantage for not being 3D. Pun bout Nolan aside, Just because Nolan is a respectable director who rather tell a decent story than use something that would ruin his film (See all Live-action movies to date that used 3D). Its just common sense, Oh well a hammer coming at me or a shield, I've seen that before. Show me something new and if you can't offer anything new then don't show 3D at all. Spider-man clearly showed in its trailer the direction of 3D they are going, lets hope it work. But what does Avengers have to offer 3D wise? 3D will not making Nolan's world of Batman any better and his world doesn't need it. Simple as that!

(Sorry I dont come out of my shell often on this site but i'm a daily follower for years now and had to say something to your dumb comment)
LMB10 - 11/7/2011, 12:19 PM
TDKR will. I'd rather it was the Avengers or Spidey, but Nolan and Batman bring in big bucks.
tomtom12 - 11/7/2011, 12:20 PM
Beat down.. There a lot haters on TDKR, but its funny how on every poll dealing with TDKR it wins every time lol
MiracleMe - 11/7/2011, 12:20 PM
TDKR will be the better film; Avengers will do better box office, I believe. It's gonna be a great year!
Cheesehead - 11/7/2011, 12:22 PM
@whoelsebutkevin- I think he's saying that because 3D cost more money for tickets, thus taking in more money. I agree with that. It has nothing to do with quality of movie.
Action - 11/7/2011, 12:36 PM
Batman, of course.
Moonwalker1991 - 11/7/2011, 12:38 PM
Batman.
Ironnick - 11/7/2011, 12:39 PM
it will go as follows:
1.The Dark Knight Rises
2.The Avengers
3.The Amazing Spider man
4.Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

As much as I am looking forward to The Avengers, and it'll making a ton of money, but TDKR will make more.
Growler - 11/7/2011, 12:43 PM
I think TDKR will take more at the box office but I'm looking forward to The Avengers most out of them all.
Personally though, I'm looking forward to TDKR least of them all. Not knocking it, but I'm more interested in seeing the Spidey reboot as it features the Lizard and I simply cannot wait to see what the maniacs behind the Crank films do with Ghost Rider.
CapemA - 11/7/2011, 12:49 PM
The Avengers will win because of it's appeal to a much broader fan base. Nolan's films , while good, are not exactly "family fare".
qainuh - 11/7/2011, 12:51 PM
@Cheesehead ... exactly!!
@ whoelsebutkevin.... Don't know why I even bothering to answer you but the vote is about box office numbers not which is the best film. TDKR will be the best film full stop! However, 3D movies are making crazy money worldwide...look at Transformers 3, Pirate of the Caribbean 4 and the last Harry Potter...£1bn easy because of the big difference between 3D ticket prices and 2D ticket prices. The Dark Knight is the last non 3D movie to make a billion. Can anyone realistically see the Dark Knight rises making more than the Dark Knight? You sure you came out of a shell?!
qainuh - 11/7/2011, 12:53 PM
...By the way...I'm glad TDKR is not 3D!
jjmeylar - 11/7/2011, 12:55 PM
I think that The Avengers will win. You've got films of Cap, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk. The only reason that TDKR would stand a chance of beating The Avengers at the box office is if the Nolanites see it hundreds of times over.
the17thrunaway - 11/7/2011, 12:56 PM
153 people are retarded
the17thrunaway - 11/7/2011, 12:57 PM
does Ghost Rider really have almost as many votes as Spider-Man?
WTF America?
marvel72 - 11/7/2011, 1:06 PM
i want it to the avengers but i think the amazing spider-man may take it.
Tevii - 11/7/2011, 1:09 PM
The Dark knight will win this probably. But I think the Avengers will leave people more satisfied.
HavocPrime - 11/7/2011, 1:09 PM
It is going to be a close one, I can see TDKR taking it though as I much as I don't want it too
skiteman - 11/7/2011, 1:13 PM
The Avengers will not be getting 4x the crowd because of the 4 movies preceding it....the same people went to see those 4 films...unfortunately...but I bet it will out perform all but Iron Man 1...SPIDEY will beat The Avengers simply because of his worldwide recognition. Bats will reign supreme....and it will break records if it's better then Dark Knight.

skiteman - 11/7/2011, 1:14 PM
no one will see Ghost Rider.
marvelstudios - 11/7/2011, 1:32 PM
im looking forward to the avengers more than batman, but i still thinkin batman will beat it at the boxoffice.
mandoe40 - 11/7/2011, 1:47 PM
if the avengers was filled with sex, violence, and language it would win an oscar.
screw you TDKR!
Go AVENGERS!!
ACira - 11/7/2011, 1:51 PM
Because comic book fans are only a small proportion of the cinema going audience, I think:
Highest grossing: TDKR (TDK was the highest grossing film of 2008, it had unanimous critical acclaim, the audience is bound to want to see how it turns out)

Next: The Amazing Spider-Man (Spider-Man is arguably the most recognizable (second to Superman) and most popular superhero in the world, there's no way this film wont do well)

Third: Avengers (This will be VERY close to TASM, but may fall slightly behind due to being less well known to the general public. There again, it could edge past Spider-Man. In fact, it could even surprise us and beat TDKR. This is definitely the most difficult to predict)

Last: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (This will hopefully improve upon the first film, but it's highly doubtful that it'll surpass any other film on this list)
musim - 11/7/2011, 1:52 PM
Honestly the amount of hype alone for the Avengers is going to bring in a lot of people Marvel movies normally wouldn't. I know a ton of people who want to see this movie in the theater who never go to theaters and don't even care much about comic movies.

Anything with Batman or Spiderman in it always sell like gang busters. Doesn't even have to look or be good.

So the real question is whether a franchise that is new to the movies can sell as much or beat established movie franchises. And the answer is I truly don't know so I'm routing for the underdog out of the three: The Avengers.
blkyank - 11/7/2011, 2:05 PM
@Squaremaster316

TDK beat out a more family friendly film like Ironman because many parents took their kids to see it regardless of it's intense content and WB knew they would. There was tons of TDK toys at the WalMarts and Targets that year. Why? Because WB was marketing the film to kids, who they knew would drive their parents nuts if they didn't take them.
My list (frick Ghostrider) for 2012 boxoffice champ is

1.TDKR: This is a slam dunk. The hype regarding the follow up to the Dark knight will be insane. This movie has a huge fanbase that doesn't have to be educated about the
franchise, has a conclusion to a popular trilogy arc and is the last film of a name director who will likely be pushed hard by WB for an Oscar.Bare in mind the Academy
is not above awarding "make up" awards for talent passed over for prior work. While it likely will not top TDK in North America at 500 million, there is no reason to think it will fall below the high 300( 375 to 390) million range and still make a Billion dollars world wide.

2.The Amazing Spider-Man: Again this is an established international brand with a character clearly imbedded in both American and global pop culture.True it has a new cast and director, but it's all about the brand. Most older fans will still see the movie. Both out of familiarity with the brand and just to see if they will like or hate it.Many newer fans are the teenagers of today.Sure they went to the other Spider-Man films, but they looked upon them with the eyes of children. This new film will be cast with raising stars that (Garfield,Stone) that have great appeal to todays teens.Spider-Man is the biggest thing Marvel can offer and it going to show when Sony makes more money off this the Marvel makes from the Avengers.(Estimated take 340 Million.)

3.The Avengers: Plain and simple, how far this film goes will depend on how far Robert Downey Jr can carry it.Sure Ironman is a global smash hit on the same par as Batman,Spider-Man and the X-men,but not Captain America and Thor, two good films but not great films. The fact that RDJ has got the best lines in the Avengers trailer should give everybody notice that the marketing of this film will be more like an Ironman 3 part one (with guests) then a stand alone brand new property. This will be a fun, action packed, check your brain at the door slugfest and will have a huge opening but will not touch the other two films because it will not try to get into more complex issues. That's ok, Marvel/Disney wants a big kick off film and Avengers will not disappoint. Based on Ironman numbers, I expect this film to come in around 325 Million.
nowtheresaBATman - 11/7/2011, 2:26 PM
I'm looking forward to all of these movies besides Ghost Rider. Nic Cage is washed up. They should've Rebooted. Spiderman will be as big as the previous Spiderman movies as far as box office. The differance is it will be a hell of alot better.
Starjammer - 11/7/2011, 2:31 PM
I would say TDKR but remember they don't have a Heath Ledger death to profit off of this time. AVENGERS.
Acidburn77 - 11/7/2011, 2:46 PM
Batman has the largest following by far, everyone has already seen spidey on the screen 3 times in the last decade, and although the avengers is a gigantic event, i dont see it breaking any records, it will probably make somewhere around the same grosses as the 1st iron man film, and although TDKR isnt looked forward to as much as TDK was in 08', it will probably come close to equalling its grosses.
EarOne - 11/7/2011, 2:52 PM
WOW!!! Judging from this result, i guess marvel's the Avengers should aim for the GENERAL AUDIENCE, instead of the fanboys. and to think that there's a lot more marvel fans here than the dc ones, as a dc fan once claimed on their board...that's a total bull...
