After several articles for my Rebooting the DC Universe, I've come to a point where I'm not entirely sure how to reboot Wonder Woman. I've thought about it long and hard, there's two ways to go about Princess Dianna's origin. Either she was made from clay and brought to life by Zeus, or she's the daughter of Zeus and Hypolita.
Personally, I believe the best route to go is to make her the daughter of Hypolita and Hercules. I chose to make her the daughter of Hercules rather than Zeus, because of one simple fact. As we know from legend and mythology, when Hera discovered Zeus' betrayal of her by sleeping with a human woman, she took her anger out on Zeus' son Hercules which is what lead to the Trials of Hercules. I find it far better to have Hercules' have a relationship with Hypolita many years after the trials ended during one of his many journeys across the globe. Much of the Amazon history however, will remain in tact.
Princess Diana was born with her father's strength and immortality, even though the Amazons of Themiscera are however immortal due to a spell cast by Hera as long as they remain on the island. As Queen, Hypolita was the first Wonder Woman but once Diana became of age and the time came for the Amazons to have an ambassador to the outside world. A tournament was held among the Amazons to determine who would become the new Wonder Woman. Against her mother's wishes, Diana entered the tournament and won.
Diana as Wonder Woman however, has a different outlook on life from her comic book counter part. Diana chooses to use her power for good and much like her father, chooses only to kill when absolutely necessary, never out of anger or for vengeance. Because of her Amazonian training though, she will kill on the battle field but only when outnumbered and it's the only way for her to survive.
When Diana was a child, she prayed to Zeus for a sister. Zeus instructed Hypolita to create a baby out of clay and that he would breath life into it. It was at this point that Donna Troy was born. When Diana left the island, Donna was 15 years old. One year after her departure, Diana returned and asked her sister Donna to join her as Wonder Girl.
Hypolita became sad-end that both of her daughters were growing up shortly after Donna turned 3 and sensing her weekness, The Egyptian God Set came to Themiscira under the disguise of Hercules and the two made love. After their night of passion, Set revealed himself as the Egyptian God of Chaos and left. Immediately, the queen's fell unconscious and overnight gave birth to an infant she named Nu'bia. Nu'bia was dark skinned like her father and as she got older, was not accepted by the other Amazons save for her mother and sisters. Eventually, the queen sent Nu'bia to live with her sisters because of the hardship she was having with the other Amazons. Wonder Woman would soon introduce her to John Henry Irons to become a member of Infinity Inc.
Shortly after Nu'bia was born, Dr. Helena Sandsmark had an intimate encounter with Hercules. From the encounter, an infant daughter was born who was named Cassandra. After Cassie's birth, Ares began attacking Helena and her child, sending beast after beast to destroy them. Hercules called upon his father for help and Zeus took the child and her mother in until Cassie became of age. After years of training along side her father, Cassie left Mount Olympus and sought out her sisters Diana and Donna. When Cassie found them, Donna handed over the title of Wonder Girl to her half sister and became Troia.
The sisters each joined teams of heroes to help protect the planet from the forces of evil. Wonder Woman became a founding member of the Justice League. Donna joined the Teen Titans who eventually became the Titans. Nu'bia joined Infinity Inc, and Cassie joined the new Teen Titans which eventually became Young Justice.
During Wonder Woman's time in the Justice League, she fell in love with Aquaman the king of Atlantis. The two forged an alliance between their two kingdoms, and together they found a way to move Themiscira to float above Atlantis. Like symbiotic organisms, the two kingdoms lived off eachother and constructed a united military force with the Atlantians working as the military's naval force and the Amazons acting as the ground force. Eventually, Arthur and Diana parted ways but their nations' alliance remained and the two remained close friends. During the end of their relationship however, a child was conceived. The daughter of Wonder Woman and Aquaman would spend the Winters on the island and the Summers in Atlantis, raised by both nations to eventually unite the two lost Kingdoms of Greece as their Queen.
