SpiderFraud - 6/25/2014, 5:16 AM
I was still surprised when I clicked the video and they was actually watching all three at the same time, lmao.
TyrantBoss - 6/25/2014, 5:24 AM
Michael Bay is a steaming pile of cow dung............figuratively speaking.
DarthSandwich - 6/25/2014, 5:42 AM
And that's why TMNT will suck, you are all being suckered in people.
Look at every trailer for every Transformers movie it's fricking awesome but then you see the movie. It's just bling and cool sound efects to get you to watch it, these people are masters at making awesome trailers. And it pisses me off that people are willing to let that slide for so long, you are smarter than than guys, don't let this cocksuckers have their way with the things you like.
danetooeasy - 6/25/2014, 5:53 AM
The guy in the green shirt's laugh is more annoying than these films.
McMeatFace - 6/25/2014, 5:55 AM
I wonder if this the same method of torturing the prisoners in Abu Ghraib.
DarthSandwich - 6/25/2014, 6:02 AM
@Dane, you just insulted Rich Evans, i will find you and i will tell you that you are wrong.
Patrick2274 - 6/25/2014, 6:14 AM
What a bunch of Baycrap !!!!
Chewtoy - 6/25/2014, 6:15 AM
Bay follows the Hollywood action playbook to the letter. There really is one, breaking down the points in which you need to have an action scene in a film to the near minute, based on the optimal pacing to fit the attention span of the audience. Many modern action films are produced by laying out these action beats first, and then worrying about weaving plot between them to carry from one to the next.

It's reportedly common for studio producers to flip straight to the pages in a script that correspond to these preset action beats, and if there isn't an explosion within a page or two of that then they simply toss the script in the trash because the writer clearly doesn't know how to tell an action story. Never mind the idea of action scenes coming naturally from a strong, logical plot line...
DarthSandwich - 6/25/2014, 6:19 AM
How is it that no one talks about how they turned Optimus in straight up murderous nutcase? He straight up executes two already defeated opponents in cold blood. Yeah, great leader who shoots one of his own kind in the face when he's already been defeated. It would be like Superman at the end of the day just broke Zod's neck, there would be million of outraged fans.
Ancar - 6/25/2014, 6:21 AM
Oh, God, this is so stupid...
Patrick2274 - 6/25/2014, 6:21 AM
The worst thing than Bayformers is the fat one in the green shirt laughing....
SymbioteJoker - 6/25/2014, 6:37 AM
Yeah not much else can be said about these films. They are god awful, poorly made, and appeal to the lowest common denominator. I think what really gets me is that these films could have easily been good. Theres a lot to work with and as a fan it sucks to see the series like this.

@DarthSandwich yeah that was one of my gripes with the series. I understand its a war but Optimus only killed when he had to. The reason for his restraint was so he wouldnt become like Megatron and also he realized he was aiding in the extinction of his own race.
Mastyrwerk - 6/25/2014, 6:40 AM
"I don't know where one robot ends and the other begins."

Haha. Transformers 10: Robot Centipede
Gusto - 6/25/2014, 6:50 AM
I don't wanna and you can't make me.
yossarian - 6/25/2014, 6:50 AM
How do these movies make money? I mean, people like them and pay to see them and I'm wondering how exactly. I saw the first half of the first one and left the theater and I haven't seen a minute more of any of them. I don't know anyone who has seen them in real life and on this site everyone seems to hate them. So is there a Bay appreciation website somewhere with a few million people commenting constantly?

Also, if you like these movies, what is the appeal? Is it just robots or is there something else to appreciate in these movies?
Newbus - 6/25/2014, 6:51 AM
I bet TMNT will follow the same script
Chekkarma - 6/25/2014, 7:00 AM
Agreed, dude in the green is lame and annoying as hell.
MercwithMouth - 6/25/2014, 7:30 AM
Speaking as a Transformers fan... I'm not watching this...

These movies are fun. Plain and simple. There's nothing else to discuss. You can whine about lack of cohesive plot(which there is one, it's just stupid every time), you can whine about too many can whine about bad acting...whatever.

These movies are fun. What more need be said? Anyone that walks into a Michael Bay film knows what to expect. They are ALL filled with jaw-dropping action and VFX, a little bit of eye candy, and a simple story. That's it. This will not change.

These movies are fun.

And to anyone that whines that Michael Bay is ruining your favorite childhood characters, [frick] off. Those cartoons are the epitome of cheesy, stupid kids' stuff. It's terrifying when Michael Bay actually ADDS intelligence to a property.
GuardianAngel - 6/25/2014, 7:46 AM

Personally for me, it's one of the few films where I like simply for the mindlessness. After you stop expecting anything from it, it becomes a lot easier to enjoy.
yossarian - 6/25/2014, 7:51 AM
@Guardian - Okay that's fair. I remember finding the action confusing to the point where I didn't know what was even happening. I'm sure I will give them a shot some time.
JorL5150 - 6/25/2014, 8:19 AM
If only Megan fox showed nipples I'd watch them.

Tits. Gotta love em.
MisterNiceGuy - 6/25/2014, 8:22 AM
These guys are douche bags. They are the type of people that give the nerd community such a bad rep. Yes transformers sucks but stop acting like you knew nothing of the material going in. As if they didn't see the shit in theaters. Please
PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - 6/25/2014, 8:40 AM
@MercwithMouth I imagine you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Just because you keep saying, "These movies are fun," doesn't make it true. By the way, that's the definition of a vapid statement and neither contributes to any sort of argument for the quality of the movies nor does it even prove your main thesis that these movies do anything that we should recognize as "fun," whatever that bland word means.

In other words: You are wrong, my anonymous friend.

But shout out for Milwaukee.
Nomis1800 - 6/25/2014, 8:56 AM
damn the fat one is ugly
Isellpropane - 6/25/2014, 9:02 AM
@They admittedly were not TF fans growing up, and they did review TF Dark of the Moon, but each of them only watched part of the movie before tagging another person in. I'd say the "nerd community" does enough harm to itself.
CASH - 6/25/2014, 9:02 AM
Dude Green shirt… What the Fk!? Was that a laugh??? Or was he sitting on his balls?
Vaportrail - 6/25/2014, 9:10 AM
Ugh. What a bunch of dicks.
This is the type of person who watches a movie to hate it. They were never going to like it, they were writing their 'review' and laughing to themselves in their heads as they watched it rather than actually paying attention.

How do you LAUGH at the end of DotM? And not just laugh, but hysterically lose it? That was a very real and serious character moment built up through the whole story and climax, and they play it off like it was a random idea.
goatman - 6/25/2014, 9:17 AM
As usual, my post is over 140 characters long, so only about 1% of you will bother reading it. The rest of you can continue playing Flappy Bird or Candy Crush, or whatever the latest distraction is on your phone.

Chewtoy - 6/25/2014, 6:15 AM
Bay follows the Hollywood action playbook to the letter.

Like Joseph Campbell's monomyth explains the formula for story telling, a formula is also applied to movie scripts regardless of their genre. And if you break them down minute by minute, you'll see it in play in 95% of all movies EVER made.

Blake Snyder's "Save the Cat!" script writing techniques put this to the test by studying how Campbell's "Hero's Journey" is the most successful way of breaking down and telling a story. His follow up book "Save the Cat! Strikes Back" examines the formula even more closely, while his "Save the Cat! Goes to the Movies" breaks down 50 individual movies from every major genre and sub-genre you can think of and proves how this formula is used over and over successfully.

That said, good writers know how to take inject that formula with great character development, compelling obstacles for the hero and entertaining dialogue while maintaining the accepted norm of story pacing and hitting all of the expected beats within a page or two even if they don't realize they're following a formula. Bad writers fail to rise above the bar of mindless entertainment even when they know the formula.

If anyone here is interested in film, editing or script writing, I highly recommend all three books. I'm not defending Michael Bay in any way. I think he's an uninspired director who makes the lowest common denominator of films.

GuardianAngel - 6/25/2014, 7:46 AM
Personally for me, it's one of the few films where I like simply for the mindlessness. After you stop expecting anything from it, it becomes a lot easier to enjoy.

That's it, right there. It's mindless. Everything is over the top, from the character's motivations and dialogue to the action and explosions. Everything is amped up 10 fold and becomes the driving force. Instead of making a compelling film that happened to be an action film, the Transformers movies are action films built on the bare minimum of story and plot. Sure, it's okay to enjoy them, but it's important to recognize how bad they are as well.

yossarian - 6/25/2014, 7:51 AM
@Guardian - Okay that's fair. I remember finding the action confusing to the point where I didn't know what was even happening. I'm sure I will give them a shot some time.

That's my problem with the films as well. Everything is so in your face that it becomes distracting. Bay tends to put his focus on explosions and secondary effects in order to "create" action where there is little. It's visually stimulating, but it's smoke and mirrors, keeping you from seeing just how awful the story and writing are.

MisterNiceGuy - 6/25/2014, 8:22 AM
These guys are douche bags. They are the type of people that give the nerd community such a bad rep. Yes transformers sucks but stop acting like you knew nothing of the material going in. As if they didn't see the shit in theaters. Please

I disagree. They've never claimed to be a part of the nerd community. They gained popularity among the so called "nerds" when they examined the Star Wars prequels and Star Trek reboots scene by scene, but in the end, they are just film fans turned critics with no particular loyalty to the comic or sci-fi communities. If you watch their reviews regularly, you might notice that they are about as knowledgeable on comic book and sci-fi sources as the average person and often can't even name the characters that so called geeks and nerds cosplay as. They're just three regular guys who enjoy examining the creative and technical achievements of films.

People often say that because they have never made a film, they have no legitimate voice to criticize with, as though only a movie writer or director should be able to pass judgement on a film. I don't have to be a chef of fine cuisine to know when I don't like the taste of some foods. But knowing you like or dislike something is not enough. You should understand why you like or dislike something.

It's not that they were "acting like" they "knew nothing of the material going in. As if they didn't see the shit in the theaters." It's that the movies were so bland and forgettable that they couldn't remember the difference between them, as very appropriately emphasized in their experiment. I've seen the first three films one time each and I couldn't tell you anything specific about them other than I know Megan Fox is replaced in the third movie by a woman who makes Fox's role Oscar worthy.

I don't always agree with RedLetter's reviews of movies, but I always respect their ability to explain why they like or dislike something.
RangerStorm44 - 6/25/2014, 9:32 AM
first one one blew my mind in 2007 the rest Bah
CaptainAmerica1945 - 6/25/2014, 10:43 AM
Well after 3 Transformer movies I am done. Not planning to see the new one or TMNT.

Maybe if a large group of us stop putting up with this crap, then the studio will pick another director (problaby when they get to the 5th reboot....)
AsianVersionOfET - 6/25/2014, 11:04 AM
This was pretty funny. These movies are such shit.
Dev7 - 6/25/2014, 11:05 AM
Shitting on the transformers movies has gotten really boring now. These guys have wasted their time and money repeating the same crap from users on online forums about the transformers movies.
Ryguy88 - 6/25/2014, 11:12 AM
Watching all three at the same time is pretty ridiculous but not half as ridiculous as watching all three back-to-back-to-back.
Ryguy88 - 6/25/2014, 11:17 AM
What I don't get is that everyone involved has to know that they are making these movies without a real story yet they make the run-time almost 3 hours regardless! How is that necessary?!?!
MercwithMouth - 6/25/2014, 11:34 AM

Well, thank you for that wonderful breakdown of one sentence. Did you bother to read the rest of my comment? Or did the small words in that repeated sentence keep grabbing your attention?

Yes, the Transformers movies are fun. It's a statement that stands for itself. There's no hidden meaning behind it, and of course it doesn't speak to the quality of the films. As you likely didn't notice, nowhere in my comment did I say the movies are good. I simply stated that they are Michael Bay movies. As such, most people should understand what they are walking in to. If you're not familiar with his work, I suggest you keep it that way, as you'll be disappointed.

So, to inform you again, these movies are just good fun. Go in, shut your brain off , and watch the explosions and giant robots. It's not exactly deep storytelling with compelling characters. It's just a summer blockbuster. Not like they've ever claimed to be more.

So, in closing, there is no WRONG when it comes to opinions on movies, as the enjoyment or dislike is completely subjective. Now do me a favour and...
MrSuperheromoviefan - 6/25/2014, 11:47 AM
MercwithMouth - "Go in, shut your brain off , and watch the explosions and giant robots."
First I think you shut of your brain since you were born
Second Pacific Rim, Avatar, Avengers are summer blockbuster and dum movies, but they are great movies unlike Transformers because they give us what we want unlike transformers
manofsteel37013 - 6/25/2014, 12:54 PM
I just wanted to chime in and say all 3 of these guys are F*ing idiots who wish they could have a 1/3 of Michael Bay's bank account. Everyone wants to bash Bay but guess what trolls, he is living his dream and making billion dollar movies and making tons of loot.
manofsteel37013 - 6/25/2014, 1:01 PM
The fat one laughs like he has a vagina! and you can tell this was a bash fest from the get go. totally scripted and these 3 have never been laid.
MercwithMouth - 6/25/2014, 3:36 PM

Haha... Pacific Rim and Avatar are terrible.
