Simon Pegg Seems To Hint That It'll Just Be His Voice We Hear In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII
Recently Benedict Cumberbatch seemed to suggest that Simon Pegg may have a role in J.J. Abrams' currently shooting Star Wars movie. When quizzed about it, Pegg doesn't exactly deny it..but simply states that we won't be seeing his face up on the screen!
During a SDCC interview, Benedict Cumberbatch kinda sorta seemed to imply that his Star Trek co-star Simon Pegg might have been cast in Star Wars: Episode VII. This, and the fact that Pegg had been glimpsed on the set, led many to draw a forgone conclusion -- but all may not be as it seems. When asked about all of this by Vulture, Pegg actually doesn't come right put and deny it, but seems to try to throw people of the scent by using some very specific wording. Have a read for yourselves and see what you think:
"Well, J.J. uses me in different roles, and we’re good friends. I feel like my face in Star Wars would pop people out of the movie. Look, I love Star Wars, and I don’t want people to watch and go, Oh, there’s Simon Pegg’s face. The film is cleverly cast with these amazing, unknown actors.
So, you’re not in the movie?
[Smiles.] Of course I visited the set. It’s amazing, and I love Star Wars. I want to see everything happening. It looks wonderful, and you need to believe those characters. Any type of stunt casting might just pop you out of the movie."
I could be wrong, but based on this I get the feeling Pegg will be either voicing on all-CG character, or, more likely given the old school slant this flick seems to be taking, be made up under prosthetics and lending his voice to an alien. Of course he may not have anything to do with the movie at all and we've taken him up wrong -- what do you guys think?
