RUMOR: Jack Huston Said To Be In The Running To Play DOCTOR STRANGE

The Boardwalk Empire actor actually came very close to playing Star Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy, but now a new report from ThisIsInfamous claims that Huston is still on Marvel's radar, and that he's one of the names in the running to play the Sorcerer Supreme.

According to ThisIsInfamous, Jack Huston (best known for playing everyone's favourite mass murdering war veteran Richard Harrow on HBO's Boardwalk Empire) is being eyed to star as Doctor Strange in Scott Derrickson's adaptation of the Marvel comic series. The site say insiders have indicated to them that Marvel are very close to choosing their man, and Huston is in with a great chance. Now it's worth noting that this is the website that swore blind that Marvel had already settled on their Sorcerer Supreme in the form of Jon Hamm (even before the movie had a director on board) so although they stil maintain that he was up for the role despite denials from Hamm himself, we'll be taking this with the requisite grain of salt for now. Still, we know Huston was in the running for Star Lord so there is every chance he'd be considered for other projects. If this were come to pass, how would you feel about Huston playing Strange?

Joaquin Phoenix is obviously a better choice, but he was awesome in Boardwalk so...
yossarian - 8/25/2014, 7:59 AM

Ol' Half-face from Boardwalk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet.

He's no Adam Goldberg though.
xcrementus - 8/25/2014, 7:59 AM

LMB10 - 8/25/2014, 8:05 AM
He's really good. No complaints here.
RorMachine - 8/25/2014, 8:06 AM
No, nowhere near confirmed. The site have had some good scoops in the past, but the Jon Hamm thing throws some doubt on this. Rumor only for now.
RocketRed - 8/25/2014, 8:06 AM
Whoa! Really good actor.

I approve of this.
MrCBM56 - 8/25/2014, 8:06 AM
I'd rather have Joaquin Phoenix.
sjoerdo0 - 8/25/2014, 8:08 AM
o yeah the even the titel says rumor ''facepalm''
TheAmbassador - 8/25/2014, 8:09 AM
Could've done worse. Just started watching Boardwalk, so I've not seen him yet, but glad to see people seem to have enjoyed his role. I think he was either rumored for Peter Quill or actually went in for an audition, so I guess he's been on Marvel's radar for a bit. I also like him age wise compared to Pheonix. If you're going to get a guy for multiple films, having a guy the age of Huston over Pheonix makes that more of a possibility. Plus I like to see guys relatively unknown to the public become household names after they star in Marvel movies.
Nomis - 8/25/2014, 8:10 AM
'fraid I not too familiar with his work.
MyInnerDork - 8/25/2014, 8:12 AM
The website source is worthless seeing as how they reported Jon Hamm was going to be Doctor Strange earlier this year. That website must be using the South Park manatees and their idea balls to create their "exclusives."
thewonderer - 8/25/2014, 8:12 AM
Great, another white guy. Keep it classy Marvel. Pedro Pascal would nail this role.
yossarian - 8/25/2014, 8:13 AM
He was also pimping Guinness or some shit for a while.
blackandyellow - 8/25/2014, 8:14 AM
He was awesome in Boardwalk Empire. They shouldn't have killed off his character.
yossarian - 8/25/2014, 8:16 AM
I know wonderbread, [frick] white people. That's why I want Adam Goldberg as Doctor Strange.
Elbarto63 - 8/25/2014, 8:16 AM
Can he pull off a stache!? Yes. Then I agree. All is in the stache.
Bekss - 8/25/2014, 8:18 AM
So is Joaquin Phoenix confirmed for Lex Luthor?
TheRealRemyLebeau - 8/25/2014, 8:18 AM
Keep this as a RUMOR!!!! And hell no to Houston. Great actor for HBO but no to Stephen Strange.
McNyagano - 8/25/2014, 8:19 AM
Never heard of him.

"Great, another white guy. Keep it classy Marvel."

SuperCat - 8/25/2014, 8:19 AM
Wouldn't mind him taking the role.

Highflyer - 8/25/2014, 8:19 AM
I can see it happening. Not a stretch IMO.
LMB10 - 8/25/2014, 8:20 AM
Except Dr. Strange... IS white. So this, uh, kinda makes sense.
Nomis - 8/25/2014, 8:21 AM
Is it "Whitewashing" when you choose a white actor to portray a white character?
SageMode - 8/25/2014, 8:22 AM
I really hope Phoenix is the one that gets this role.

Oh yes, how stupid is it to for a Caucasian actor to play a Caucasian character...............

Great, another white guy. Keep it classy Marvel. Pedro Pascal would nail this role.

Get off this bullshit Pedro Pascal bandwagon. Dude doesn't even look like Dr. Strange. His character was busy fvcking men and women and wanting revenge for his sister in Game of Thrones. Accent was kinda thick as well. Smdh.
dio - 8/25/2014, 8:25 AM
^^^incoming Trevor Joke
TheRealRemyLebeau - 8/25/2014, 8:25 AM
Pedro Pascal in the role is like having Antonio Banderas Jr. In the role. Can't shake that accent.
DrKinsolving - 8/25/2014, 8:26 AM
I think this could work....
