GOTHAM: First Look At Carol Kane As 'Gertrud Kapelput'
A new still from Fox's upcoming Batman prequel series provides our first look at The Penguin's dear old Mommy. Anger Management actress Carol Kane will play the mother of Robin Lord Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot, and it's a safe bet she'll play a part in how he turns out.
So our Penguin in training obviously changes his name at some point. Could Gotham borrow some elements from Gregg Hurwitz's Penguin: Pain and Prejudice when it comes to this character? Kane's Gertrud Kapelput is described as a "proud and faded beauty with delusions of grandeur."
The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).
Gotham kicks off Monday, September 22.
