The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

tricklove187 - 12/1/2013, 12:26 PM
It must be warm inside that plane.
RorMachine - 12/1/2013, 12:28 PM
Well, in the book his name is "Smaug the Golden"..so, I'm assuming he had a gold sheen off him. Guess they went another way for the movie. Not exactly a deal breaker is it?
Facade - 12/1/2013, 12:28 PM
@Grif...after turkey dinner, how about some crow?
MrCBM56 - 12/1/2013, 12:28 PM
Imagine someone really stone and looking in the air to see that XD
MrCBM56 - 12/1/2013, 12:29 PM

RorMachine - 12/1/2013, 12:34 PM
Oh I know that, but wasn't he called that before he settled in Erebor though? I always thought he was supposed to have a gold tint off his skin.

@JoeMomma29 That Smaug was awesome and I love that scene the man that played Smaug was great.

Personally I kinda like the design of Smaug they made but really to me it is the only good thing in a whole pile of shit that is the Hobbit movies. I hated the first movie and the second one seems to keep that track going strong.
brickwall - 12/1/2013, 12:53 PM
That plane looks pretty awesome, would have been even better if Smaug's head was nearer the front of the plane.
DukeAcureds - 12/1/2013, 1:00 PM

marvel72 - 12/1/2013, 1:06 PM

Now THATS a dragon!!!!! Love it!!
Kyos - 12/1/2013, 1:27 PM
Looks very Draco-ish (Dragonheart), but then again that was probably my favourite movie dragon. ^^

Beorn though...
Greengo - 12/1/2013, 2:23 PM
SimyJo - 12/1/2013, 2:28 PM
The dragon's wings should be on the wings of the plane! - what a creative opportunity missed!.
ComicBookGoth - 12/1/2013, 2:32 PM
thought he had a more rounded snout, in the trailers.

Super12 - 12/1/2013, 2:41 PM
@SimyJo - and who would be able to see it? the 4 passengers with window seats by the wings? That'd be a huge money waster.
NovaCorpsFan - 12/1/2013, 3:11 PM
Be better if his mouth was at the very front and it breathed fire. And when they eject waste, it could breathe fire.
riseofloganX36 - 12/1/2013, 3:30 PM
a dragon is a dragon and he dosen't look anything like Draco.

Why do you people bitch about every little meaningless stupid thing.

He's ganna look epic on screen i can;t wait to see it.

And that plain looks great.

NUFF said BUB!
DukeAcureds - 12/1/2013, 4:23 PM
1st of December, anyway so it's time to open the first door on the advent calendar...

What could it be?

Kyos - 12/1/2013, 4:46 PM
"a dragon is a dragon and he dosen't look anything like Draco"

Wait, so you're saying that a dragon, being a dragon, will likely look like a dragon in the way dragons use to be depicted, but that the dragon Smaug looks nothing like the dragon Draco, despite them both being dragons and therefore looking like dragons?

I'm confused now. (*_*)'

pesmerga44 - 12/1/2013, 5:23 PM

Sorry I worded my post wrong I like the design of Smaug in this new movie while everything else about the movie and almost the entire Hobbit trilogy is a pile of shit. The only scene I liked in the Hobbit an Unexpected Journey was the "Riddles in the Dark" scene hated pretty much everything else about it except also Martin Freeman as Bilbo he did great in the movie. The Smaug design the 70's animated movie reminds me of older European dragon designs you would see on old art.
pesmerga44 - 12/1/2013, 5:24 PM

The 70's animated Hobbit movie I really did like though I still love the movie today.
MightyZeus - 12/1/2013, 7:29 PM
Smaug looks bad ass but it's hard to see on the side of that plane.
IAmGalactuspool - 12/1/2013, 8:27 PM
Dragons have as much evidence as existing as gods....just saying.
ChowdaHead - 12/1/2013, 9:06 PM
it looks like any other dragond design. dissapointing but expected. they shoulda gone with Gullermo Del Toro's design.
ChowdaHead - 12/1/2013, 9:06 PM
Wolf38 - 12/1/2013, 9:50 PM
What a great idea, with the plane. I'm fine with the look. That 70s animated one was really weird, almost catlike and furry.

"The only scene I liked in the Hobbit an Unexpected Journey was the "Riddles in the Dark" scene hated pretty much everything else about it except also Martin Freeman as Bilbo he did great in the movie."

Ditto for me mostly, although I really liked the Misty Mountains song. I'm torn about this new film; in principle I want to pass on it, but Smaug/Erebor is my favorite part of The Hobbit, and it could be great, at least better than last time...
