Seth Rogen Substantiates Talk Of AMC's PREACHER Series

Perhaps this rumor is true. Seth Rogen's cryptic tweets seem to indicate he's involved with an AMC adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's trailblazing comic, Preacher.

Seth Rogen Preacher AMC

Actor/comedian Seth Rogen is giving strong hints via Twitter that he's involved in the AMC adaptation of Garth Ennis' controversial DC/Vertigo comic book series, Preacher. So strong in fact, I'm no longer thinking of this one as a rumor. Whether Rogen will be portraying one of the character from the series or is involved in a producing aspect is anyone's guess. In the past, it was thought that Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who recently directed This Is The End would be working on a film adaptation but it looks like this one is indeed headed to tv.

Merging with a bizarre spiritual force called Genesis, Texan Preacher Jesse Custer becomes completely disillusioned with the beliefs that he had dedicated his entire life to. Now possessing the power of "the word," an ability to make people do whatever he utters, Custer begins a violent and riotous journey across the country. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip and the hard drinking Irish vampire Cassidy, the Preacher loses faith in both man and God as he witnesses dark atrocities and improbable calamities during his exploration of America.

MrCBM56 - 11/17/2013, 9:55 AM
He's a good actor.
DukeAcureds - 11/17/2013, 10:05 AM
So AMC are allowed to go as hardcore as the book, right? If so, this could be the only way to do a perfect adaptation of this book. This could be a very good thing. It'll be interesting to see whether or not they'll censor the book at all.
Arrowhead77 - 11/17/2013, 10:08 AM
Dirty Randy...Lol.
HeadPool420 - 11/17/2013, 10:19 AM
And I just lost the last bit of hope for this project!!!
HellsHammer - 11/17/2013, 10:25 AM
Why?
chewish - 11/17/2013, 10:26 AM
Everyone stop hating on Seth. It's not like he was already in a universally hated adaptation of a beloved comic book...

Oh, wait

Preacher is one of the greatest comics I've read in my life. The Saint of Killers is a BAMF!!!
HeisenbergSaysRelax - 11/17/2013, 10:50 AM
As long as he's a writer and not starring in it, I'm good. He's a good writer..Hell, he's even a good actor (watch "50/50") but he wouldn't fit a show like this, imo. He'd probably be pretty good as a writer though, provided he doesn't go full comedy..but I don't think AMC would let that happen.
SactoChef - 11/17/2013, 10:52 AM
Forget Seth Rogen!! Why has no-one brought up that this will be ruined by being on TELEVISION?!?! The language and subject matter is far too harsh for tv!
CaptainAmerica31 - 11/17/2013, 10:59 AM
He's actually a very good actor
jerryblake - 11/17/2013, 11:05 AM
i don't know what kind of character he could play ? Does he have the chops to play John Wayne ? I'm not sure. There was the story with New York cops chasing down serial killer. There was this reporter (can't remember his name). I think he could play that part well.

I don't like the idea of Goldberg directing.
And please - no Franco as Jesse Custer.
chrispunk28 - 11/17/2013, 11:11 AM
jerryblake - 11/17/2013, 11:15 AM
still it's better idea to give it to Seth than Mark Steven Johnson.

Where is Sam Mendes when you really need him ?
jerryblake - 11/17/2013, 11:17 AM
by the way ... i don't think Preacher is that much controversial right now. If it was year 2000 or 2005 - maybe.

Now ... not so much
npamusic - 11/17/2013, 11:35 AM
@Yoss ..... he was already on TV with Freaks & Geeks... you're statement is invalid.

Let's hope this is better than Green Hornet, Hopefully he'll fair better with a TV Budget, and more creative control. Interested.
ClarkFarley2012 - 11/17/2013, 11:47 AM
Seth roger..smh
RorMachine - 11/17/2013, 12:15 PM
I actually like Rogen, but I have absolutely no idea what character he'd suit in Preacher.
GoldenBoy02 - 11/17/2013, 1:15 PM
This is gonna be huge. Please, get Bryan Cranston for Herr Starr!
MightyZeus - 11/17/2013, 3:10 PM
Seth Rogen is going to be attached...
I am disappointed.
Scuzz - 11/17/2013, 4:18 PM
If Rogen is playing Custer I will never stop crying
Dunejedi - 11/17/2013, 6:01 PM
[frick] that noise. I don't want him getting his greasy mitts on this property. Not even as a producer.
SpiderBat209 - 11/17/2013, 8:33 PM
UNDERTAKER for Saint of Killers! :D
EntertainmentAddict - 11/18/2013, 5:20 AM
Count me out, between his horribly annoying laugh and (imo) lack of talent, I won't like it...
indiemov - 11/18/2013, 6:45 AM
it better be good! There's also talk of an Apocalypse Nerd movie http://comicsalliance.com/peter-bagge-apocalypse-nerd-live-action-movie-kickstarter/
AvatarIII - 11/18/2013, 7:56 AM
Calm down people he's probably just going to be a producer
13echo - 11/18/2013, 5:15 PM
