I loved The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Thor 2 was disappointing IMO.

Didn't Sage say this movie would make a billion at the box office? LMAO

Loved both Hunger Games:Catching Fire and Thor:The Dark World.Thor:TDW made a decent box office numbers, guaranteeing a sequel, which is great news. Now it is time for Hunger Games 2 to make some cash.

not the movie we deserved, neither the sequel we needed.
Saw it last tueasday. It was rather medicore.
Part 1 was better (in my humble opinion)
Great effects, good story but making London a center of a finale ? Weak.
The humour was rather bland (i laugh like 3 times at hanging the hammer, Thor getting to car and Loki's death threat scene)

Elba and Russo rocked.
Loki was fun, but his tricks were rather predictable.
Selvig was wasted.

5/10

boy it was a medicore year

I don't know if any reasonable person would think Thor:TDW will reach a billion. As far as I liked the movie, one must think realistically on things.First, Thor 2 is released in November and not in the summer months.Second,it is almost 2 years after The Avengers. The real boost from the movie belonged to IM3.Third, Thor does not have the same fan base of Iron Man.Yes, the movie was pretty good in my opinion (watched it 3 times at the cinema and thought it was a great improvement over the first one), but these are the facts. The fact that the movie won't reach a billion does not mean it is a box office failure or a bad movie and unfortunately this must be learned by many people here. The important thing is that it has made enough money for another sequel and that should please people.

New standard for Marvel: If the Marvel movie doesn't reach a billion box office, it is a failure and all the Marvel fans should be ashamed.

ANY film that tried to compete this weekend would get slaughtered, unfortunately. Any of you that measure Thor's financial success (or any CBM) by whether it reaches a billion dollar gross is truly a simp.

"Thor 2 did good for it's run. I hope Catching Fire drops 90% next week. Comicbookmovies>>>anyothermovies."

Whilst I certainly admire your devotion to CBMs, I don't think that's the way to look at things bro.

Catching Fire was better than first but it was two Faqing hours off talking and pussysuffering until they get to the games. Thor is better in terms of pacing and entertainment.

Marvel is getting overly "comfortable" in its franchise. The stories have been completely mediocre and Feige is going to find out the hard way how fickle movie audiences can be. Word of Mouth is everything, and I think Marvel is listening to its "Bean Counters" more than its audiences. That is a blueprint for disaster by the way.

I saw Thor TDW last night and actually fell asleep at the 1/2 way point (for about 10 seconds) before I jarred myself awake. Guess I've already seen enough Hobbit-like films already. Some scenes were pretty cool, (like any scene with Loki in it) but boy do I wish I saved the money and watched it on FX next year. Anyone who reviewed this film with more than 2 1/2 stars was clearly pandering to the source material in hopes of keeping the character in films. I say if you want to watch a film about a dimension traveling viking, Highlander is far better.
By the way, Thor 1 (3 stars) had much funnier moments. As jerryblake said, this one had maybe 3.

Did folks really think Thor would gross a billion? If it does end up making at least $600 mil, that would be a great feat. Enjoyed the movie. I think the numbers it's getting is considered a success for Disney/Marvel.

@McNyagano,

I was being sarcastic. Didn't you see the picture under the text?

But, some people here do imply that since Thor: The Dark World will make "only" around 600 million, then it is not good.

I can't believe some 'people' here think Thor made that amount of money because it was mediocre implying that if it was good, it would have made more without factoring in that's it was released in November two weekd before the HG which will wipe the floor at the B.O. But whatever
