Christian Bale Fat in American Hustle

Christian Bale spoke with USA Today about seeking out smaller budget films like Out of the Furnace and American Hustle after playing Batman in three studio blockbusters. "It's very rare that people who do massive films like that want to repeat with another massive film. You're dealing with a small army, everything you do requires hundreds of people -- vs. a lower-budget film where you can spin on a dime. You have less people breathing over your shoulder. You can alter the script in 10 minutes and decide you're going to go in a totally different direction and nobody questions you, you just do it. There's great a freedom to it." Click the link above to read the full transcript, it's a great interview. Jennifer Lawrence interjects with some funny quips.

Zoe Saldana Gamora a wolf

Speaking to Crave Online, actress Zoë Saldana compared her Avatar character, Neytiri to Gamora in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Where Neytiri is a cat, Gamora is another animal. "No, she was more of a wolf, Gamora. But she was a character that I didn’t really channel naturally, unconsciously. An animal isn’t what popped up. A bullfighter was." A brief but very visual description.

DC All Access was originally commissioned for 12 episodes but the success of the program has led to the web show being given an order of 12 additional eps. The show is hosted by Blair Herter and Tiffany Smith. I'm personally a fan of the show, I initially expected DC All Access to be all fluff but they've provided some real content with interviews with Jim Lee, Geoff Johns, Zack Snyder and more. Variety has the details.

No matter how much of a head case he is Bale is still a good actor.
IM53 - 12/4/2013, 6:28 AM

JoeMomma29 - 12/4/2013, 6:36 AM
@ Batz11

LOL! Actually Bale is really a good actor in my opinion as well.

And I cannot wait to see American Hustle as well.
jlabatman - 12/4/2013, 6:45 AM
American Hustle has a stellar cast, looks like a damn good movie!
InfiniteMonkey - 12/4/2013, 6:48 AM
One of the best actors of this generation, that is a fact.

Oi, where's me beer at? FVCK!
ManDeth - 12/4/2013, 6:58 AM
Bale is a stupid idiot to gain that much fat for a role. Once you break that barrier life is never the same. Especially if you do it after 40. He could be the next Val Kilmer or Brando.
Look at how much Stallone changed after he got fat for Copland. He looked 35 before and even after he lost the weight his face had changed. And he suddenly looked his real age. All those years of maintenance were wasted just for Copland.
TheRealistStarLord - 12/4/2013, 7:02 AM
Looks like Bale gonna get another Oscar nomination for best actor next year.
symbiotics - 12/4/2013, 7:14 AM
@ManDeth you should've seen him in The Machinist, and right after that he made Batman, he's no stranger to changing his body
Reni - 12/4/2013, 7:16 AM
All Access is good for a webseries, and yeah i also thought it would be pure fluff (like that one minute interview with Snyder)
SuperCat - 12/4/2013, 7:33 AM
I agree. Good actor. Seems like he's really serious about his craft.
VictorHugo - 12/4/2013, 7:42 AM
Gosh, we need to raise funds to feed Zoë Saldana, otherwise she won´t be alive for Star Trek XIII
VictorHugo - 12/4/2013, 7:43 AM
SuperCat - this reminds me of the Bale-out: "you are trashing my scene!"
MementoMori - 12/4/2013, 7:47 AM
American Hustle looks good and has a solid cast, Bale being my favorite of the group. Seeing Lois Lane and the only man to play Batman in 3 films together? Sure, why not?
SuperCat - 12/4/2013, 7:59 AM
LMAO! @ Victor

I was actually thinking of that while I was posting. But I didn't go there :)
jlabatman - 12/4/2013, 8:02 AM
So basically we have:

Mystique/Katniss
Batman
Hawkeye
Lois Lane
and Rocket Raccoon in one movie! Done!
SnapperCarr - 12/4/2013, 8:50 AM
Cristian Bale is awesome.

and great news about DC All Access!
bluedude - 12/4/2013, 10:18 AM
I don't think bale is crazy
but id say hes the coolest kind of crazy
badass sweet-heart that guy
ELGUAP0 - 12/4/2013, 10:37 AM
@Mandeth Copland was worth whatever Sly did. It's easily his best performance since the first Rocky movie. I would think that all the supplements and drugs he's been pumping into his body effected him far more than putting on some weight.
RyKnow - 12/5/2013, 5:22 AM
The finest actor to portray Batman effectively. The finest Batman films made by a director. Long live The Dark Knight Trilogy.
MrChuff - 12/18/2013, 10:54 AM
Bale created a hard Bat to beat.
