A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters July 11, 2014

This is the dumbest premise for a franchise ever. Air superiority wins wars and I can't imagine monkeys with sticks taking down an A-10.
DaVinci31 - 5/27/2014, 12:26 PM
I didn't know "monkey around" was a thing.
DeusExSponge - 5/27/2014, 12:29 PM
blackandyellow - Well there's a virus that started to spread amongst the human population at the end of the first movie, which I believe wiped out a large chunk of the human population. Maybe in the state of panic the worlds militaries didn't think of attacking the apes, instead they were too busy trying to find a cure for this virus.
ALegendaryPanda - 5/27/2014, 12:31 PM
^^Not to mention the humans were fighting each other for about 4 years.
Amazing512 - 5/27/2014, 12:42 PM
Next is our beloved Apes and then Guardians of the Galaxy!
This has been a great year for blockbusters.
The only major film this year to come the closest to disappointing me was ASM2.
MercwithMouth - 5/27/2014, 12:42 PM
Awesomeness... This movie will be incredible.
Gusto - 5/27/2014, 12:43 PM

@Bekss

Why you keep linking to that site? Do you write for it? Or you don't want to make an article on here?
MercwithMouth - 5/27/2014, 12:44 PM
@Gusto

Like you and Joe?
DonaldBlake68 - 5/27/2014, 12:46 PM
@Amazing512

I agree with you. I know its all a matter of opinion and taste but the second Amazing Spiderman was just barely worth the price of admission. I think the webslinging was the only good thing in the movie. Also, the death of Gwen was done very well.
mmadadamm - 5/27/2014, 12:47 PM
so there's only 1 orangutang and 1 gorilla?
MercwithMouth - 5/27/2014, 12:48 PM
@Gusto

Here, matching shirts for you two lovebirds...

So Gusto have gone from promoting Pedophilia to Bestiality.

What's next... incest between underage monkeys with kids?
DeusExSponge - 5/27/2014, 12:52 PM
Nomis - Dead, underage monkey, killing 3 birds with one stone.
dutchman - 5/27/2014, 12:57 PM

@blackandyellow: On top of that, if you look at how many apes there are in total in the U.S., and how long it takes for them to reproduce, the idea of super-smart apes taking over would be absurd if even .5% of humans survived the first film...and I think I remember them saying that the 10% survived. The math doesn't even come close to adding up.

That said, it's OK for Planet of the Apes films to be absurd, as long as the film is good enough to make me forget how absurd it is for 2 hours.
Nomis - 5/27/2014, 1:06 PM
@ DeusExSponge -LOL!!!

How could I forget just add a little necrophilia.
dethpillow - 5/27/2014, 1:09 PM
this movie looks great!! 2014, this is just gonna be total apex.

good article, and i don't mean to pry, mate,
but how do u find all these scoops?
:)

ManofSteel23 - 5/27/2014, 1:12 PM
nobody knew it was the apes, so the world (in the real world) countries would of thought it was chemical warefar or something and just killed each other
kinghulk - 5/27/2014, 1:28 PM
coreyxyeroc- i think ceasar's kid or his kid's mam will be killed and that will turn him against the humans. he is very human but i think that will turn him make him vengeful and full of hate.
earzmundo - 5/27/2014, 1:32 PM

Gary8264 - 5/27/2014, 2:42 PM
Rise and Dawn are makes of the 3rd (Escape) and 4th (Conquest) and 5th (Battle) movies of the original series. So I'm expectin' the next one will be about the 1st (Planet) and possible the 2nd (Beneath) movies. Which would be cool they even mention the space flight that Taylor (Heston) is on twice in Rise Of The Apes. First they mentioned the flight, then later in the movie they mentioned that the ship is missin'.
Ocelot - 5/27/2014, 2:44 PM
They never fought the apes. That's happening in this movie. They also didn't know that it was the apes that spread the virus. The virus spreads, kills people around the world, countries and governments fight each other and the world collapses.

Even though it's kind of the rule around here, don't be an asshole, just to be an asshole.... like I'm sort of doing now(?).. it's Planet of the Apes.
needles94 - 5/27/2014, 3:30 PM
@blackandyellow sticks? umm no. they have guns bro. on top of that apes have multiple times the physical strength of humans. give an ape with a hate for humans intelligence and advanced weapons and its game over for us.
blackandyellow - 5/27/2014, 4:39 PM
There is literally nothing anyone can say that will convince me that this franchise doesn't suck balls.
fortycals - 5/27/2014, 6:54 PM
CinemaHero - 5/27/2014, 8:53 PM
@blackandyellow
Hey, if this isn't your thing, that's cool.
But still...this premise really isn't any more ridiculous than the premise of any superhero story...

Oh.
And I can tell you that the humans here are definitely disadvantaged. Civilization has completely collapsed. Humans HAVE no air superiority. Physically, socially, and tactically, the apes have serious advantages.
Just saying...
JorL5150 - 5/28/2014, 2:28 PM
There's already interspecie a romance here gus,

I'm a tailless monkey and flo is a goddess materialized as a human woman.
It's an annunaki thing. Hybrids and shit
