Guy Ritchie Back On Sgt. Rock?

Ritchie has been attached to the film in the past, but now news is leaking that Warners is not only interested, but moving plans forward once the new Sherlock Holmes is finished.

Sgt. Frank Rock is an infantry non-commissioned officer in the DC Comics Universe. His story takes place during World War II. He was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Sgt. Rock is eagle-eyed shot, and has the ability to hurl grenades with precision. Rock is a stealth fighter with his hands, employing boxing and street like style. He appears as extraordinary strenth and healing abilities. He has survived numerous gunshots, and shrapnel from grenades.

Who should play Sgt. Rock? That is what I want to know.

Ritchie was initially linked to the Sgt Rock adaptation a few years back but eventually gave way to Francis Lawrence, who wanted to take the film away from the comics WWII setting and give it a futuristic spin, instead. But Twitch has learned that Warner Brothers and producer Joel Silver have now put Sgt Rock back in Ritchie's court and are lining it up as his next film.

Nothing official announced yet, but Ritchie is already said to be supervising the current screenplay draft.

This could work, if the script is good and they cast the right actor in the role.

MrNoFear@ That is entirely Warners problem. They always take control and then the film turns out to be Catwoman or GL and nobody goes to see it, not even (in fact especially not) the fans, because the film they end up with is an over-produced piece of Hollywood studio bullshit. The only times I remember them staying out of anybodies way was with Chris Nolan on Batman Begins, because they didn't give a shit what he did with Batman. It was always gonna be better than Batman and Robin, they just wanted him to start the franchise off again. Then, when they realised it was good, they let him do whatever the hell he liked with Ther Dark Knight. And look what happened there: The only times they stop having hands-on studio control, they get critical and commercial success. LEARN WARNERS, LEARN! TAKE NOTE!

Get rid of the [frick]ing future shit. Who the [frick] wants to see that? Francis Lawrence is a [frick]ing [frick]tard.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Guy Ritchie FILM 'LOBO' FIRST! Jason Momoa as Lobo. gambitfreak@: Bruce Willis is my choice for Vril Dox.

I seriously think if they make a 'Lobo' film that included character from L.E.G.I.O.N. they'd have a chance of starting a franchise out of which character(s) the general audience prefers.

WB YOU REALLY NEED TO GET THE FLASH and WONDER WOMAN ON THE SCREEN FIRST!

WOW. Sgt. Rock has been kissed by death already.

Joel Silver is the sh7t-Midas.
Original Script set in futuristic war????
Now back in WWII, will be looked at as an obvious Cap. America Knock-off.
Guy Ritchie? Really?

AND FANS REAALLY WANT TO SEE THE FLASH NEXT!!!

Way to go Warner/DC. Always giving the people what you think is best.

Hey, I loved reading 'Sgt Rock' as a kid, I'm sure a movie would be cool - IF IT'S DONE RIGHT!!! Definitely set it in WWII, the way it should be.Bruce Willis isn't a bad choice @ all, or maybe Josh Brolin.
ellispart3 - 7/12/2011, 5:27 PM
@CaptainAmerifrog agreed. The Flash is a pretty big gun, you dont rush him out there to film. Sgt Rock can be an awesome movie if done correctly. With the way Green Lantern did, the Flash has to wait a little while..proabably wont hear too much talk about him until DKrises or Man of Steel.

@itbegins2005 Ritchie needs to finishing up the RocknRolla series..but him doing lobo is still high up there
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/12/2011, 5:30 PM
Great! Cant wait!

Gerard Butler, Jason Statham, Ray Stevenson or Josh Brolin all the way!

Ray Stevenson is my number one choice!
That dude is one bad ass mother[frick]er and great actor (Rome, The Book Of Eli, King Arthur)

another shit character, that doesn't deserve a movie outing.
Maximillion - 7/12/2011, 7:41 PM
If Captain America works, this could work too, but they need to have a big budget, great director, great story and marketing. Sgt.Rock is old school, but it could work!
XpectinBetter - 7/12/2011, 8:20 PM
Guy Ritchie is an xcellent director; marvel needs to scoop him up quick

I can't help but feel like the WWII comicbook hero movie bandwagon is starting.
