The Dark Knight Rises: Good Quality Video of Batman and Bane Fighting

Local news station WPXI Pittsburgh has four minutes worth of the melee. I also included two curious pictures of the cops looking up at something. What could it be?

These fake punches look worse then the Adam West version. I'm sure it'll look good on film, but my one year old niece throws more convincing punches then some of these cops (actors).

Why are the cops looking up during this scene? Why are they celebrating? Could the rumored Batcopter be in this scene? Or a Batplane? What could it be? Well whatever it is, they sure seem happy to have it make an appearance.

Thoraz - 8/7/2011, 7:50 AM
It's Superman!!!
AlexDeLarge87 - 8/7/2011, 7:53 AM
This might be the final confrontation cause those cops looks like they have just defeated Bane´s mercenaries.
Bar20 - 8/7/2011, 7:55 AM
But aren't the cops suppose to arrest batman after the second movie?
GUNSMITH - 8/7/2011, 7:57 AM
THIS MIGHT BREAK THAT 3RD MOVIE CURSE WHO KNOWS, IT'S NOLAN.
OptimusBurgundyMaximus - 8/7/2011, 7:58 AM

goldenavenger77 - 8/7/2011, 7:59 AM

It seems odd all of these clips , and now video are coming out right now , I'm wondering if Warner is pushing the marketing of this because of The "bad" Green Lantern Movie , also Bane is about as big and menacing as my Mom ( she's in her seventies )but it is Nolan and the Man has Never let us down .
LP4 - 8/7/2011, 8:10 AM
@nailbiter111- Nice find!! And nice vid! Hoping all will be best with Bane in this film.
STYGR8dotCOM - 8/7/2011, 8:15 AM
they dont look that bad. this is gonna be good. (:
twiztidEssex - 8/7/2011, 8:16 AM
''Hater's gonna hate'' is the dumbest cop out statement. People have a right to their opinions, and they do NOT have to accept everything handed to them like sheep
nailbiter111 - 8/7/2011, 8:17 AM
lp4 thanks buddy. i hope all is well too. nolan is great, but his decisions in this third movie are throwing me for a loop. certainly isn't predictable.

is TDKR a comedy spoof?

how can puny bane(a Jason[Friday the 13th] wannabe) kick Batman's ass?

this is simply hilarious.I know atleast 10 guys who r bigger than Bane(tom hardy) and throw newspapers every day.
tomtom12 - 8/7/2011, 8:26 AM
@knossis - you never know man some of the clips in the Dark Knight was film in the daylight but in the movie they did some trick make it look dark.
BigK1337 - 8/7/2011, 8:29 AM
Well this is only the filming process, who knows it will turn out great in the end.

But if not, well at least I have an appreciation for the Adam West Batman action.
Lert - 8/7/2011, 8:32 AM
As much as I love this franchise "Nolan's version" I wish there wouldnt be so much footage out there. I suppose if your going to be doing all this in real places and tons of peoople around, this is what you get. Im sure Nolan knows this but cant really do anything about it. These arent descrete locations after all...

Batman operating in the daytime just looks corny as hell. Remember in the Dark Knight will Alfred ask Bruce if he was taking the Batpod and Bruce replied," In the middle of the day, not very subtle." That scene implied that Bruce knew how ineffective Batman (a creature who operates on fear and darkness) would be out in the daytime. Let the cop's handle the day, the Dark Knight operates best at night. His night operates make criminals afraid to operate in their own element. As Joker told the mobsters," I know why you have your little therapy sessions in broad day light...The Bat Man."

If AYTHING Batman showing up during the day should make the predicament or situation seem that much more important or serious since Batman showed up while the sun is out. It's called creativity. Plus with YOUR logic even if Bane or anyone else is in Gotham Square murdering innocent people in broad daylight The Batman won't show up to save the day simply because the Sun is up... please... develop a creative muscle in your body and some common sense then feel free to critique.
tomtom12 - 8/7/2011, 8:39 AM
@Lert - I agree, I don't know if there anything he can do right now.

I know people have a right to their opinion, but i find it silly that people wanted judged stuff off of low quality stuff ( Cell phone pictures, video camera etc ). I mean do you really think this is what it going look like in movie theaters, and IMAX? Come on now lol
dudeperson - 8/7/2011, 8:40 AM
maybe they are shooting in broad daylight because bane is trying to lure him out during the daytime. i think maybe bane is causin all types of boolsheez during the day cos he knows batman cant sit there and wait to strike during the night.
jigsaw1993 - 8/7/2011, 8:45 AM
This scene will great, maybe even as awesome as the chase scene in TDK with all the SWAT and the bat pod. Im still curious on how Catwoman is going to fit into this sequence, and why Bats is out in the day light, but Im sure all will be revealed.
JWStubner - 8/7/2011, 8:45 AM
knossis - 8/7/2011, 8:37 AM

I have this sinking feeling that Nolan is dropping the ball on this one. It seems like Rises will be on the same level as Batman Begins but with a bigger budget. The dialogue seems hammy (Gordon in hospital and Bane),earthquake machine,(the micro wave emitter was the only part of Begins that jumped the shark)Bane looks stupid and so those Catwoman. Nothing stands out as different. Bringing back the League of Shadows, Talia and all that just doesn't seem all that great. Bane is a character the general public isn't familiar with and and Catwoman is pretty much a Rachel Dawes romatic replacement. I don't know if these character's are strong enough to have a decent arc throughout the film. I wish Nolan would have went with the Riddler and made him a serial killer who leaves a riddle before he commits each act of murder. Kinda like the zodiac killer, Nolan also could have given a nod to the movie Seven like he did with Heat in the Dark Knight. I would have found Bat man racing against the clock, using his detective and fighting skills, trying to find this mad man before he kills again to be a lot more interesting than what we have seen so far on Rises.

Bane isn't a good enough villain because the general public isn't fully aware of who he is? That's terrible logic. Furthermore I don't EVER remember Rachel Dawes ever stealing the Batpod, stripping, and fighting crime as a vigilante while also committing crimes. You speak as if you already know every detail about the movie as if you've seen it. As I recall it's not even finished filming yet. YOUR OPINION COULDN'T BE MORE MISLEAD. You seem a little too bitter that The Riddler isn't the villain this time around. Don't worry though. There's isn't a better, more menacing villain from the source material than BANE, I assure you. Sorry bout it.
Hellsing - 8/7/2011, 8:49 AM
Its pretty [frick]ing obvious there looking up to Superman in the sky. :/
soforizo - 8/7/2011, 8:52 AM
@knossis, would've love a take on the Riddler like you described. Couldn't be worse than what i've seen so far.
RobinNumbah6 - 8/7/2011, 8:54 AM
looks like bane told a joke and bats wasnt amused
bropous - 8/7/2011, 8:54 AM
@Essex: Right on. I'm weary of the folks who can't take a counter-opinion.

It is possible that Nolan will use a "night filter" on this fight scene as things DO look a little cheesy in light of day.

And, @JW, The Batman WOULD take care of problems in the light of day, but somehow unseen and surreptitiously. He would find a way to do it from a distance with something from his utility belt...but then again, Nolan doesn't know Jack Shite about The Batman. Sorry, you little Nolan-zombies. SOME of us who know The Batman for decades longer than you have been alive aren't particularly enraptured with Nolan's limited universe.

In one comic, Superman is captured by some aliens or another, lashed down with Kryptonite chains. The aliens ask if he is the most threatening enemy they would face on Planet Earth. His answer: "No. There is one other. And he scares the "living crap out of me" [paraphrase]. And in the upper corner of the panel, you see deep shadows with two bat-like eyes shining through the darkness.

THAT'S THE Batman. Nolan's The Batman wouldn't make Superman even blink. But then again, with the limp-wristed fruit that DC Films has consistently portrayed the Man of Steel to be, he wouldn't make Nolan's Batman blink much, either.

I REALLY cannot wait to see the REAL Batman and the REL Superman, as portrayed in the comics, on screen before I assume room temperature.

Now, you little punks, report away. Stifle dissent.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2011, 8:56 AM

I think Nolan's going a bit OTT really, I do not have a good feeling about this movie. So far nothing I've seen has made me think "I MUST see this" , I can see it being very anti-climactic ...

but I guess I'll have to see the final result :/ but yeah. not impressed as I thought so far.
cable23 - 8/7/2011, 9:00 AM
OMG! You guys complain about everything its uncanny. Do you guys know anything about filming a movie? This scene is gong to take place at night. All they have to do is use a trick camera and go to the editing room. Hell, when I was a kid the Disney Channel taught me that. And by the way Banes voice is going to be dubbed in the editing room. Of course it sounds bad its in a stadium on a microphone and taken by someones cell phone.
Bandrews1 - 8/7/2011, 9:01 AM
Why must people keep judging this just from someones cellphone or whatever kind device the are using to film these videos, so for all you guys saying this movie is gonna suck just from these set videos you are a [frick]ing moron.
cable23 - 8/7/2011, 9:06 AM
Some of you act like Uwe Boll is directing this movie.
Hellsing - 8/7/2011, 9:10 AM
Lol I aint Nolanite so I don't get a boner over everything he does, not gonna judge the movie on bunch set photo's hell you shouldn't judge any movie on set photo's, although Catwomans costume was kinda crappy well, the suits fine but the goggles looked they were from another movie entirely. Hopefully she actually has cowl so you know she hide her identity.

JWStubner - 8/7/2011, 9:12 AM

@knossis, would've love a take on the Riddler like you described. Couldn't be worse than what i've seen so far.

The story he suggested with the Riddler is cool but it's also WAY too similar to what The Joker did in The Dark Knight. Murder people and leave subtle clues here and there. I'm sure Christopher Nolan wanted to make a different movie this time around. Which is what it looks like he's doing. I think Bane's mask sucks but I'm not going to bash an entire film that I've never seen based solely on that like a lot of people do because it's illogical.
JWStubner - 8/7/2011, 9:18 AM
Christopher Nolan seems hell bent on breaking new ground with The Batman character and that's more effective then the same old bullshit from the comics. Feel free to compare and contrast this film (that you've NEVER seen) to the source material all you want but the fact is the only source material that matters to Nolan is Year One, The Long Halloween, and Knightfall and molding it into his own REALITY based form. It's worked pretty damn well so far since Begins and TDK are pretty much flawless. I think we all need to stop acting as if this movie already sucks simply because it doesn't have The Joker or The Riddler in it and just let the film speak for itself a year from now. I'm sure one year from today all of you nitpickers will be praising The Dark Knight Rises.

thalidomide - 8/7/2011, 9:11 AM

^ haha I know, right? these are the same people who said The Dark Knight sucked a year before it's release because The Joker had scars and wore makeup and green hair dye instead of it all being natural. I'm so glad I'm not as fickle as 50% of the people who post on this site.
SigmaCenturion - 8/7/2011, 9:23 AM
I think too much of the movie is leaking. and its not showing anything worth while so far as far as costume design goes.
Tainted87 - 8/7/2011, 9:28 AM
The way Nolan has gone in the past two movies, you can tell he is a big fan of Jeph Loeb and Frank Miller, or perhaps they just have the "better" stories that appeal to him. Of course with the Joker, he had to extend a bit further and borrow from Alan Moore's Killing Joke.

Bane has not been in any Loeb or Miller story (as he is relatively new in comparison) so he's reached into Knightfall (where Bane is introduced and destroys Arkham) and No Man's Land (where Bane is a mercenary working for Luthor, trying to "take control" when the city has already been hit with a massive earthquake).

Honestly, I haven't been particularly motivated to read Knightfall, but I have read No Man's Land (better than most people give it credit for).

The setting dominates every characterization, which is what makes everything pretty unique throughout the arc. Batman doesn't appear for awhile, but in place is Huntress (dressed as Batman) and a whole lot of forsaken GCPD who are ready to split from Gordon's authority. All of Gotham is divided into constantly changing territories "ruled" by anyone with enough power, supplies, and the means to keep it. When Batman returns to Gotham, he is neither welcome nor wanted, as just about everyone feels that he abandoned them. When he fights a bunch of amateurs for the first time at night, he finds that they are no longer scared of him.

I'm hoping to see a lot adapted from that story.
Joker11 - 8/7/2011, 9:31 AM
Its gonna be great!
JWStubner - 8/7/2011, 9:34 AM
@knossis

Never said you couldn't give your opinion. I'm fully aware that THIS is nothing more than a forum for opinions and am in complete favor of it. I just didn't agree with the logic you were using to create your opinion of the film but I understand where you're coming from. I just can't stand when people act like a movie they haven't seen yet and that isn't even in post production yet, already sucks. It's not fair and is illogical.
marvel72 - 8/7/2011, 9:36 AM
do you guys remember the people who said the green lantern would be shit from early set footage, photo's & the awful first trailer.look how that turned out.

every director makes a stinker in their career, why it may well be this.
JWStubner - 8/7/2011, 9:37 AM
@Tainted87

Knightfall is what got me to start reading comics back when I was 6 years old in 1993. It's a must read and a great insight to Bane's character. A lot of Knightfall has been featured in Begins and TDK. I highly recommend you read it before this film is released.
