Who Should Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider?

Who Should Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider? Who Should Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider?

Killer Film: You spoke a lot about tone for Cowboys & Aliens, is that the similar approach you guys are applying to Tomb Raider?

Mark Fergus: Yeah, that’s the thing now days with projects like these. It has to be a thrill ride, with a strong character. We really love to write like that. Why does Iron Man work better than others? Because the adventure and romance were pushed in a different direction. So with Tomb Raider, we want to do that. We wanted to start fresh to see her character’s beginnings. I liked the games, I liked the movies, but we really wanted to give Lara Croft that Iron Man/Batman Begins treatment. It’s a good franchise, and we want to bring it to some new crazy place. She’s a cool movie character, and we just have to believe in her character and not wink at it, just play it straight.

Killer Film: Any need to distance yourselves from the two Jolie films (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life)?

Hawk Ostby: We obviously have a different origin than those films, but we liked them.

Mark Fergus: Those were really fun, but we want to make it epic and do it like the films we want to make. Lara is so bad-ass in that first movie. When Angelina Jolie walks out in the first frame of that movie, she is who she is. You never have to worry about her, she’s going to be okay. We want to take it back before that. Who was she before? Where she got that confidence?

Hawk Ostby: Someone isn’t born that way, they’re made. We going to get deep in character. It’s a great opportunty.

Well, having the guys who worked on Iron Man is a plus for the reboot. They have previously said that they would like to bring the franchise back to square one like Batman Begins. With all of that in mind, and the producer pushing for a younger Lara Croft we can eliminate any actress over the age of 30. Certainly means Angelina Jolie is out. And the funny thing is that Angelina was quite good in the role, but the movies were poorly written and directed. Check out my list below of the actresses I think would make for the best Lara Croft.

Since the reboot was announced one of the first rumors was that Megan Fox, and Olivia Wilde were in the running for the role. Olivia then was attached to more rumors that she was actually close to signing on for the role, but she soon put those rumors to rest.

Olivia Wilde: "As far as I know right now, I'm not playing Lara Croft," she said simply. "No."

But don't count her out just yet. She goes on to express her love for the character.
"That would be so awesome. I love Lara Croft," she said. "That's really cool that people think I should play her. That's nice of them." - Courtesy of MTV

Summer Glau & Jessica Biel

Megan Fox & Emily Blunt

Gemma Arterton & Hayley Atwell

Summer Glau would represent well the new look of Lara Croft on that upcoming game. Wilder looks more like the classic one, she doesn't has the same body as the old lara but she has the look.
My vote goes to Olivia Wilde because of her looks that could assemble well Lara Croft

My choice is Rhona Mitra! She had that Lara thing going on in Doomsday.

GEMMA ARTERTON! She is amazing..and classy. To gorgeous.
Megan fox is ugly...And can't act. She had WAYYYY to much plastic surgery.
Olvia wilde, She could be GREAT! I love her.
But i want Gemma.

@Cherrybomb...I like that choice actually...I think it could give Ms. Eve a chance to open her acting range some.

I like the way they're approaching this, they seem to want to do the franchise justice. To be honest, I enjoyed the first film quite a bit, the second one... not so much.

I think Olivia Wilde or Hayley Atwell would be good in the role. You can count out Megan Fox. She already said she didn't want to play Lara Croft.

Oh! If they go for a young Lara, with her starting off...How about Tamsin Egerton?

@Tweeenkies Thanks! yeah I think Alice would be great (: she's so beautiful, has a killer body and is British! - Gemma Arterton would be equally perfect <3

@CherryBomb...Her body is go great! It looks very womanly and strong actually. I just realized how strong she looks. I think Gemma would be great...She is my favorite choice. But alice is one of my new favorites as well. I wish she was Emma Frost
VanCityKid
VanCityKid - 9/22/2011, 4:03 PM
Why not Allison Carrol? She's probably the best and most physical Lara Croft model to date, not to mention she kinda looks like the new younger version

CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 9/22/2011, 4:10 PM

@Tweenkies I agree! :( Alice would've been the PERFECT Emma Frost. I think the studio realised they made a huge mistake letting her go.
Oarsis
Oarsis - 9/22/2011, 4:13 PM
@CherryBomb...It was a HUGE mistake! I some what liked January JOnes...but she didn't do a great job. I liked her look...but not her. The outfits SCREAMED emma...but she didn't. I hope alice has a good career. I think being Emma could have given her a chance to show everyone what she was made of.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 9/22/2011, 4:22 PM
If Kelly Brook could just fine-tune her acting and get a little better, then she'd be a perfect Lara Croft. She certainly has the body.

CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 9/22/2011, 4:23 PM

@Tweeenkies totally agree! :( maybe they'll recast? hopefully. <3

@NOLANITE haha, thanks! I'd love to be Lara Croft ... but I don't have the body or big enough breasts to be her XD
Oarsis
Oarsis - 9/22/2011, 4:24 PM
@CherryBomb...I really hope they do...especially with everyone saying how bad Jones was. Fans and critics. I felt bad for her to be honest! haha
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 9/22/2011, 4:33 PM

@nailbiter111 Yeah, that's why I put that IF her acting got better XD but she does have the looks and body. (: but thanks, Alice Eve would be awesome.

@tweeenkies me too! she barely had any lines, I didn't mind January, I think it was more 'Direction' with her character than acting more than anything, I think a lot of people went over the top.

I'm totally confused...i thought they where already making a new one with a younger less busty look. Still though if i recall, the woman was majorly fine :^)

@CherryBomb I don't think Alice would even have to dye her hair really, just grow her natural colour back out (in the photo you posted she looks like she has dark roots).
Kelly would be a good choice if she could act.
Emily is my choice from the list. Gemma is my second pick, and Olivia's my third.

But preferably just dont make another Lara Croft movie.
Oarsis
Oarsis - 9/22/2011, 4:38 PM
@CherryBomb...I agree. she was stiff,, but not horrible. I hope Emma has a larger role in the sequel
