First Look at the Thundercats' Berbils

Your first look at the Ro-Bear Berbils! The memorable robotic teddy bears were featured in the original show and will be re-imagined in Cartoon Network's latest episode of ThunderCats. Hit the jump for a glimpse.

This Friday's episode of Thundercats will have a village full of robot bears that have a knack for building. But all is not well as the Berbils seek the help of the Thundercats to protect them slave traders that want to exploit their construction skills.



Fans of the original ThunderCats series will recognize the Berbils immediately. "When deciding to bring the Berbils back we agreed to not change their design or personality too much as they were some of the most memorable characters in the original ThunderCats universe," producer Ethan Spaulding tells TVGuide.com. "The appeal of the Ro-Bear Berbils is their unassuming look -- cute, furry, robotic teddy bears -- and their robotic voices. They look cute but are actually great builders and help the ThunderCats in many ways." - TV GUIDE

Great series! I love this show. Animation is great, not like Voltron's reboot crap!! But they are only playing reruns now. Well on demand anyway. They was putting up new eps every time one came out. So I guess they are back on track.

spindrift: AGREED! That episode looked as if it was gonna be weak kiddie play and it was just the opposite. You said the perfect word, beautiful....

@BmanHall I was VERY pleased with how this turned out. It has some of the older "nods" to the original, yet has a completely different story line. Watched eight episodes in a row.

the biggest improvement over the original series is some of the costume changes especially Lion-o's and Tygra's. The dissapointments are: Tygra is Lion-o's older brother (which makes no sense to me, and no mention of those other 3 thundercats (Bengali, Pumyra, Lynx-o)

@mr jones - They showed a brief glimpse of Lynx-O in the pilot episode. During the destruction of Thundera, they showed a lynx with white eyes in a tower. I originally thought it was the Tower of Omens, until the episode where they found the Book of Omens....in the Tower of Omens (obviosuly not the same tower)! But no sign so far of Pumyra and Bengali. And yeah, you're right, the whole tiger being the brother of a lion thing... not so much!

As one who never cared much for the original series, I must say after watching the first 3 episodes that they were great! Hope the rest have been as good as those.

Bout time it came back. Yet another change to the mythos that actually adds to the story. I can't wait. I'm also loving transformere Prime on the Hub
