Here is an interview that Olivia Thirlby gave an NYCC that seemed to go unnoticed. She briefly gushes over the movie's script, and how surprised and thankful she was to land the part. Olivia will be playing the part of the rookie, Judge Anderson. The part is expected to be quite large since Karl Urban revealed a few months ago that the plot would revolve around a day in the life of Judge, and Dredd training the rookie, which is Olivia. Still no confirmation if her character will have psychic powers like her comic book version did.

The South African company, Lone Wolf Grips, which provided camera rigs, tracks and grip services for the film. All info and Pictures via Bleeding Cool.

Here is an interview with Domhnall Gleeson as he adds more details about his role in the film. We knew from earlier interviews with him that he'll be playing a technology geek, who is supposed to cause the viewer to question if he is a good guy or a bad guy.

If we can talk about Dredd for a minute – you shot earlier this year for a 2012 release. Can you talk about your character in that at all? I couldn’t find much about it at all!

DG: Yea, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say anything, I think I signed some stuff! I only did two weeks on Dredd – it’s not a huge role but I feel in some way he could represent the troubled heart of that kind of world. This awful society where Dredd’s a figure of hope is really interesting. So I was really proud of working on this. I love Alex Garland [screenwriter on Dredd] as well. So my character is very important actually. Also I’ve got mad makeup and things.

And do you get to do any action?

DG: No not action stuff. I got to be dragged around and tortured a little bit basically but that’s about it. I had a ball on it because the cinematographer was Anthony Dod Mantle [28 Days Later, 127 Hours] who is just gifted.

I understand the film is shot in 3D – what was that process like on set – as an actor and possibly a future filmmaker?

DG: Yea I think 3D is really integral to how we’re telling this story, it’s actually really important in terms of the nature of the story – I think it will become clear when it comes out. And also because you’ve not just got a guy who know how to use 3D but you’ve got Anthony Dod Mantle in doing it. And the scope of his movies is just amazing, he’s just really interested by light. Having an artist behind the camera is really important. It was kind of wonderful, it was really freeing. And I’ve just been working with Seamus McGarvey [Anna Karenina] and I’ve also worked with Roger Deakins! [True Grit] It’s kind of amazing. So that’s been really, really exciting working with all those guys. - clickonline.com

This actually looks it might be decent, just hope they don't wreck it like the doom, resident evil movies. ;)

Doesn't Hollywood understand that audiences don't want 3-D anymore? Sure it was great for Avatar, but it's getting old, boring, and it doesn't work anymore!

When I become a film director I won't put 3-D in any of my films. It's totally a waste of time.

Anyone else see Olivia Thirlby playing Wasp in an Avenger's sequel perhaps?

not sure about this since the recent Hugo is said to be the best use of 3D yet

If I remember it correctly, the script does indicate that she has psychic powers.

I have a feeling the studio is trying to dump this. It's been dead quiet on the Marketing front. does it even have a release date?? ah well, for Urban alone, I'd see it. even if the helmet still looks distractedly oversized.

REEEEEEEEALLY want this to be good but really? Must we go down the path of this b actor Karl Urban? He only has one expression!!!
Ranger14 - 11/26/2011, 8:03 AM
Not too keen on anything I have seen from this. Doesn't look overly futuristic so far and Urban just doesn't scream Judge Dredd to me. Missing the signature Dredd chin and considering that is the only thing that you really see, that is a pretty significant departure from the character look.
RyanLantern77 - 11/26/2011, 11:59 AM
Karl Urban is the man. Hopefully this doesn't suck
P862010 - 11/26/2011, 1:45 PM
only way this sucks is if director is not up to par since the script is very good
EditNinja - 11/26/2011, 2:38 PM
@ MadMonk - cruel but fair.
