The effects on the Lizard were good not great.
StarSpangledBruce - 7/12/2012, 3:31 PM
The expression on the Lizard's face in the last image looks like he just saw titty.
GoILL - 7/12/2012, 3:32 PM
@JDUKE25 Agreed.
Emanuel14 - 7/12/2012, 3:32 PM
the lizard effects were GREAT
Godzillafart - 7/12/2012, 3:32 PM
The effects were great. Didn't ever think it looked fake. I would take TASM over Avengers for a special effects oscar.
IronManisGOAT - 7/12/2012, 3:34 PM
CG for the Lizard sucked. Look of the Lizard sucked. Everything about the Lizard sucked. Why would the Lizard of the comics want or even be interested in spraying people with lizard gas to make everyone elite? Doesn't make sense. Best Spider-Man/Peter Parker on the big screen so far though.
nailbiter111 - 7/12/2012, 3:34 PM
i don't agree. i think the hulk looked so much better than the lizard.
IronManisGOAT - 7/12/2012, 3:35 PM
Godzillafart... you are delusional. Name a special effect in TASM and compare it to an effect in Avengers and explain how TASM's was better.
IronManisGOAT - 7/12/2012, 3:36 PM
That's because Hulk WAS better than Lizard, by leaps and bounds.
JMESS - 7/12/2012, 3:37 PM
its a bad killer croc.
laughterman26 - 7/12/2012, 3:38 PM
THE HULK shat all over lizard
JonathaNisMagnuM - 7/12/2012, 3:41 PM
I thought they did a great job visually w/ the Lizard. Regardless of wether the snout wasnt long or anything, the lizard skin looked great & the action scenes he was in was awesome. Having said that, I didnt enjoy the movie story wise AT ALL.
laughterman26 - 7/12/2012, 3:41 PM
@BossWalsh realy you thought avatar was shit cgi, THE WHOLE [frick]ING THING WAS CGI [with the acception of a couple sets here and there]if i saw you right now, this is how shit would go down you can make a skyrim joke and the take a punch to the face
travispipes - 7/12/2012, 3:44 PM
I thought it was great as well. The subtle things like the way the his scales shined, and the way he smelled things with his tongue, just like actual lizards do. Overall though the design cant compare to the Hulk from The Avengers.

The Lizard actually looks good in that video. Looks like a mini-Godzilla. I need to see this film.
SmokenOaken - 7/12/2012, 3:44 PM
Hate to say it, but... Sh!t movie.. Sh!t special effects..
TheWebSlinger - 7/12/2012, 3:51 PM
@IronManisGOAT, say what you want, but this movie has some of the best CG I've scene in a while. The Avengers was rather inconsistent, Hulk looked great, it was easy to tell when Ironman is CG, especially the one scene with him and Thor in the woods and the planted Downey's face into a CG model. The Alien army was terrible, especially when fighting Captain America. When this comes out on Bluray, unless they touch up on it, it'll be more apparent.

The Lizard was ok, some scenes were spotty, but most of them were great. From the cloth simulation done with his skin to make him look more reptilian, to the simulation of the cloth being dynamically shredded by the gun fire in the scene shown above. ANY ANIMATOR KNOWS HOW HARD THAT IS, to make look realistic, including my self. I'm going to school for this.

The CG of their fight scenes tops most films, the hall room was completely rendered, which is astonishing to me. The sewer fight was also beautifully done, they make you think a lot of stuff was done practically. The touch ups done to the webbing in that scene were quite amazing. The trick to great CG is to not really let the audience "know" what they are seeing, they nailed that here. The biggest flaw about the Lizards CG in this film, is that they should've chose better lighting for him on certain scenes, that would let him blend in more than pop out at you and be too noticeable. Perhaps they intentionally did that because it was filmed in 3D. This might be Sony Image Works best work, they out did themselves this time. Kudos to them.

defenderofthefaith - 7/12/2012, 5:11 PM
Doesn't this new Spiderman look a lot like Harry from the last trilogy?
angus666 - 7/12/2012, 5:27 PM
Hulk looked better, though I did like how they put some little hairs on his face. It added a slightly gross creepiness to him. I still think the Hulk looked better though.
superotherside - 7/12/2012, 5:28 PM
Hulk looked tons better than Lizard. That said, Lizard's look was very good.
travispipes - 7/12/2012, 5:29 PM
Whatever the SFX are freaking AMAZING!
mattattack - 7/12/2012, 5:36 PM
Maybe the SFX were solid on TASM but the design and look of the Lizard was retarded. No snout, no lab coat? Come onnnnnnn
nosnegrom - 7/12/2012, 7:16 PM
Which hulk are they talking about
Godzillafart - 7/12/2012, 9:12 PM
Lizard was awesome...

But the Web swinging scenes in TASM were the best special effects of the year.

Avengers was great...but very little new stuff.
notmuchtotellreally - 7/12/2012, 10:39 PM
Screw the hulk!!!!!!!!! Lizard was way more badass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SuspenseSmith - 7/12/2012, 11:47 PM
Lizard was awesome. But some of the lighting was bad a couple of times. That's usually the weakness of CGI is matching the lighting and reflections.
SuspenseSmith - 7/12/2012, 11:48 PM
At one point the face animation reminded me of Caesar from Rise of the Planet of the Apes
FireKnightRises - 7/13/2012, 12:02 AM
lizard look more realistic than hulk? are you people serious??

lizard looks good because he always appeared in night, his CG will looks bad if its in daylight
xcan28 - 7/13/2012, 1:13 AM
Lizard sucked, CGI in "Amazing" sucked, but on a side note... doesn't that Hutcherson kid look like a pocket midget you just want to stuff in your pocket and bring out for show and tell?

Also, I'm pretty sure his chick friend in the video is in porn... I may watch too much porn sadly :)

sirbonesalot - 7/13/2012, 3:52 AM
The only good Lizard Part was when he had on the lab coat.........

good movie though
silverdog - 7/13/2012, 5:56 AM
but sfx were good, but the hulk was a better character.
CaptainObvious - 7/13/2012, 9:04 AM
The Hulk was much better than the Lizard. You know when the CGI is goofy when people are chuckling whenever it appears on screen.
Acerimmer1 - 7/13/2012, 12:06 PM
The Hulk is better IMO. All of the Hulks anatomy is laid bare there are no thick scales, lab coats or saggy mounds of flesh to hide behind, it's all out there. Whats more the character of the Hulk is more human and that always makes the model harder to sell and yet I still find the Hulks anatomy still reads better.

Also i can't see anything of the actor in the Lizard and with the Hulk you can. Further to this the Hulks performance was great, the Hulk acted!

Lizard only acted as a beast so yes there was a physical performance but nothing more. Hulk on the other hand can even do comedy.
jackdawak - 7/13/2012, 4:33 PM
GOOMBAAAAA!!!
SuspenseSmith - 7/13/2012, 6:43 PM
Hulk was perfect. Lizard needed work. Design was good, but the scales reflecting the light made it look cheap.
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/15/2012, 2:49 AM
Lizard owned.
