Miniatures Used In THE AVENGERS, SPIDER-MAN 3 & X-MEN: THE LAST STAND
Yesterday, I showed you some amazing miniatures that, New Deal Studios, created for Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Now, I want to show you what they conjured up for The Avengers, Spider-Man 3 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Hit the jump to check it out.
For Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, New Deal Studios built and photographed a 1:6 scale crane boom ripping through a building, that in the film is a modeling location for Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard). So next time you watch that building facade crumble, know that's thanks to miniatures.
As for Joss Whedon's box office smash, The Avengers, New Deal Studios helped with the opening scene that involved Loki (Tom Hiddleston) stealing the Tesseract. During that seen Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in hot pursuit, in a helicopter, but it is shot down and just before it crashes Fury jumps out.
Lastly, New Deal Studios also worked on Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand. Their work was vital for making the scene in which Jean (Famke Janssen) kills Xavier (Patrick Stewart). As you will surely remember, Magneto (Ian McKellan) and Xavier both confront Jean at her old home, and encounter her new wicked persona, Phoenix. At this point she unleashes her power, lifting her home off the ground. That was made possible with the help of miniatures.
