Willem Dafoe Once Again Knocks THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Reboot
When Willem Dafoe was doing press for John Carter he took a few shots at Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, yet he hadn't seen it. Now, he is back with a few more choice comments, and yet again, he still hasn't seen the film. Come see what he has to say!
Willem Dafoe has been doing press for his new video game Beyond: Two Souls and of course Total Film decided to ask the actor his thoughts on Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man reboot, since he played Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002).
“I saw a trailer for the first Spider-Man reboot and I thought, ‘This is crazy! It’s not shot for shot, but it’s the same story,’” Dafoe told us. “I thought, ‘This is sort of a cynical approach to making money!’”
Discusses the pureness of the first film as compared to the rest:
“It really was (very pure). The way Sam Raimi approached it, it was pure in its intentions and I think he captured, particularly, Tobey [Maguire] at that particular moment.
He later confesses that he doesn't have the time to watch the reboot. He also was asked to share his thoughts about fellow actor, Chris Cooper, taking on the role of Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
“You know, in the theatre, people play the same role all the time. I don’t know anything about it, really,” he says.
TASM2 - Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.
