Nolan killing Batman would just be sooooo cool! Don't think it will happen though. I'd love to see batman die and stay dead...for good.

He can't. Batman cannot die in that place and time. Whatever happens, I cannot wait!

Guys seriously, stop. Joseph Gordon Levitt's character isn't going to become Batman. I'm sure of it.

He is going to. It's only obvious.
I don't agree with it. Killing off Batman would be a stupid publicity stunt. Nolan's "jumping the shark".

WTF! why could not he just made the story complete short and simple? Where Bruce is old and retired and instead of killing the character, that Whedon did with Coulson in The Avengers? It would be great to continue the story with a reboot perhaps a Batman Beyond movie.

You are all hoping for a sequel... but some stories just need to end. Like Indiana Jones, it should have ended with the "Last" Crusade.
Stories are better when they have endings. Which is why it's hard for me to read actual comics anymore. Because the fans demand it, a conclusion will never come.
But the death of Batman might not be such a tragic one. it's like what was said in Inception. "Positive emotion trumps negative every time. We all yearn for closure, for catharsis."
We need closure to this story, and if killing Bruce Wayne is the only way to say "THE END." then so be it.

I think JGL will take over similar to the way Azrael did in the comics. I feel like Bruce will be injured to the point where he won't be able to go on as Batman, but will still live.

It would be one giant pile of dog s@#$! if Batman dies at the end of the movie. This is the equivalent of Superman death in the comics.Though it was very emotional, at the end of the day it was Dc comics way of getting people who have never read the comics and those who stopped to reflect on this great comic book hero that they may have taken for granted but that's the philosophical aspect of the whole thing.
At the end of the day it was all about the profits and if Batman dies at the end of the film this just proves my point, as folks who do go see the movie will spread the word and many other people will fight to get the best seat just to see Nolan's Batman final battle.

No! Because they are trying to hard to imply it. And Bale however implies that Bruce must learn to let
go of what made him become Batman.
Either way, the movie will be good and interesting, but very bleak, with little humor, and nearly no fun factor.
It will not come close to the Avengers numbers though it will start off strong.

If he does that, he is a Moron, and all his trilogy goes to shit. I really have high hopes but something like this would be disastrous. I love Batman, but every step of this movie seems like he is taking the wrong direction.

Haven't u heard wat he says in the Trailer??
Catwoman: You don't owe these people any more! You've given them everything!
Batman: Not everything. Not yet.
The "everything" here, is the ultimate sacrifice.. Which is his death..!!

But it might just mean that he thinks he's going to die and doesn't care. Maybe he's about to take on Bane knowing that he won't make it back.

Thank you Nightmare7! I can't believe you are the first person to say that on this thread. If they are going to stay even remotely true to the story, we all know that Bane puts the Bat out of commission by breaking his back. That would still really suck to see, but I think that is where they will go. Killing him would be moronic! And either way, I am sending my husband to watch it first, because I am a wuss and I will not watch it if those things happen.
And someone else mentioned the title - "Dark Knight RISES." I don't know how a dead guy can rise. It seems to suggest a positive outcome.

If he dies, then all this talk Bale has had to do about returning for a fourth film, when asked, makes no sense (unless it is a prequel or Batman is a ghost). But Warner Bros wouldn't let Batman die anyways, regardless of what Nolan may or may not want.
I also think it would be a massive mistake to replace Bruce Wayne with another charactor as Batman. Unless it is Dick Greyson, who hasn't been even touched upon (and no, not a gay joke there) in Nolan's franchise. To let some charactor we haven't seen before take over as Batman would be beyond stupid. Hopefully Nolan agrees.

No, I think the end of the film will basically have Batman become more than a legend as the title suggests. I don't think Bruce will die.

Batman will not die. However Afred will. He will die at the hands of Bane and then we will see Batman do something he hasn't done, kill. Here the reason. Alfred says in the previews I have buried enough members of the Wayne family. Now it will look bad for Batman but once he see Bane kill the one person who has always been there. Then we will see Batman dismantle Bane starting with the mask first.

Technically, Batman is more important than any one man. The Knightfall saga of the mid 90's saw Jean Paul Valley take up the Mantle of the Bat following Bruce Wayne's being paralyzed. In fact, there are many things happening in this new film that are mirroring that saga.
1. Bane breaks all of the inmates out of Arkham Asylum.
2. Bane confronts the Batman in the Batcave.
3. It appears that Bane defeats the Batman, how else would he have torn his mask off of his face?
4. Bruce is seen hobbling around Wayne manor with a cane.
5. There is a TV spot out now which clearly shows the chin of someone other than Bruce wearing the cowl. Find it and pause it if you don't believe me.
The Dark Knight Rises could also be referring to a new Dark Knight Rising. Just saying.
