Simon Cowell Set To Produce A BETTY BOOP Movie

“Boop-oop-a-doop!” The depression-era cartoon sex symbol has never been the star of her own feature, but that's about to change as American Idol/ X Factor's Simon Cowell is teaming with Lego Movie animators to bring us “a music-driven hybrid animated comedy.”

Betty Boop Movie with Simon Cowell

Seemingly not content with ruining music, Simon Cowell has turned his attention to our beloved movies. Variety report that the X-Factor producer/judge is teaming with Lego Movie animators Animal Logic and Fleischer Studios to give the iconic Betty Boop her first big screen outing, in what's described as "a music-driven hybrid animated comedy.” Boop was created in 1930, and has since gone on to become something of a toon-sex symbol. Although she has never been the focus of er own movie, she did appear in Who Framed Roger Rabbit back in 1988. “Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world – I’m thrilled to be working with her,” said Cowell. “Betty, I’ve worked with some serious divas but I think you could be the biggest of them all!” Chairman and CEO of Fleischer Studios mark Fleischer adds: “I am delighted to partner with Syco Entertainment and Animal Logic. Their energy, creativity and playfulness make them a perfect fit for Betty Boop.” The project still has no writer or director on board.

"Toon sex-symbol"

Anybody that gets turned-on by a cartoon needs serious psychological help. What the [frick] ...

Sorry fellas, this isn't "Marvel/DCmovie.com". Personally I couldn't give a shit about this either, but it's comic book related movie news and that means we cover it.

@JackRyan9859

I kinda care if they can do it like the early 30's version and if its set in that time period.

Its no different than Loony Tunes and Popeye movies.

KeithM - 8/14/2014, 10:29 AM
I've always wanted to see a Betty Boop movie.

Oh wait. No. The other thing.

Well at least we know the music will be shit.

Screw all of your fancasts! Only one could possibly bring Betty Boop to life!

Nomis - 8/14/2014, 10:36 AM
I could see Katy Perry starring in a live action version of a Betty Boop movie.

TChalla - 8/14/2014, 10:38 AM
Wow Katy Perry just gets all her gimmicks from comics and cartoons huh?
Pasto - 8/14/2014, 10:39 AM

LOL do they think anyone actually wants to see a Betty Boop movie? These studios are just throwing money away because they are afraid of taking a leap with a new property.
