MGM has announced (via Heat Vision) that Oscar winning filmmaker Sam Mendes, of American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Revolutionary Road, and Away We Go, has been hired to direct the upcoming 23rd James Bond movie. Despite recent concerns that the production was temporarily on hold, MGM is on track to release Bond 23 in late 2011. Bond regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing the script along with Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan. Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will produce. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007.
Well, despite Mendes frequently reassuring comic fans that he will be directing Preacher as soon as possible, it seems he is full of shit quite frankly. Not only am I not in the slightest bit exited about another Bond, Im of the opinion that Mendes is a pretty terrible choice to direct one. He's a great director but not exactly known for his action movies, and isn't that what Bond is all about?
I know there are lots of Bland..sorry, Bond fans out there so I'm glad the movie is back on track for you..but I'm fuming at Mendes' involvement because of the delays(possible cancellation) it means for Preacher. Give Bond to Michael bay for Gods sake!
