We've already heard a little from Dane DeHann about his upcoming role as Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but here he talks about the man who will be playing his on-screen father, Chris Cooper. DeHann has worked with him before, and thinks the father/son bond won't be difficult to form. "I made my first ever movie with Chris Cooper, this movie 'Amigo' directed by John Sayles, we made in the Philippines four years ago," DeHann tells MTV News at the Place Beyond the Pines press junket. "And at the time I was a little scared of him, but he was so nice to me and I really, honestly, I have moments looking back on it where I truly looked up to him. So I’m really excited that he’s playing my father, because I think he’s just amazingly talented and I look up to him like a father and I think that that relationship will be really easy to form, for sure." There have been rumors that Harry may actually be the Green Goblin in this movie, or even possibly eventually become Venom! Whether that's the case or not remains to be seen, but it would seem that whatever incarnation of the character we are in for will at least be a physical one - DeHann also reveals that he's been working out six days a week and is sticking to "a really strict diet." He also reiterates that he'll be bringing his own interpretation of the character to the screen, ensuring Harry "comes off as a living, breathing, actual human being."

@MARVELPSYCHO79: Agreed.

I wouldn't mind if DeHann ended up adopting the Hobgoblin name.

I'd rather him do that then copy his father's suit.
Optimus83 - 3/11/2013, 1:45 PM
Norman & Harry Osborn. ...Again!
Chloefornication - 3/11/2013, 1:54 PM
I don't care. DeHann is flooding CBM's first page.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 3/11/2013, 1:58 PM
I only want harry to take on the green goblin role if norman "dies" Not any other villain ! He should never become venom or the hob goblin lol
sephiroth211 - 3/11/2013, 2:07 PM
@IIIAdamantiumIII: It was just an idea to maybe change things up. It's not a huge change. Now making Harry Venom is a pure no no.
MrDonut - 3/11/2013, 2:07 PM
Cooper should've been JJJ and Colm Feore (if he has been cast) as Osborn... Whatever though... I'll wait for a trailer before any real judgement starts...
AmazingFantasy - 3/11/2013, 2:08 PM
Dane is gonna own so hard.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/11/2013, 2:25 PM
Cooper´s is definitely a cool actor. Still remember him from American Beauty. But i dont know. Maybe they should have get a little bit younger actor for Norman. Cooper could have been good choice as JJJ.
But we´ll see. He is not gonna change into Goblin in this movie thats for sure. In the third film?... Maybe?

They could make him mutate into Goblin and create the Goblin with motion capture. Thats the only way i could see Cooper pulling off the character cause i dont think he can jump around that much anymore.

I hope DeHaan stays in his human form. If they have to make him supervillain. Do it in the third film and make him Goblin. Better not change into Venom or Hobgoblin.

If Harry becomes Venom, I will be a very angry fanboy.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/11/2013, 2:29 PM
Althought Ben Kingsley and Anthony Hopkins are still in good shape so maybe Cooper is too.
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/11/2013, 2:32 PM
Colm Feore would be great Roderick Kingsley / Hobgoblin!:)

totally agree with that. Jason Macendale was Hobgoblin, not Harry.

Love is character in comics, and cartoon series.

jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 5:00 PM
And there is no Venom without Eddie Brock
MBZ1993 - 3/11/2013, 5:17 PM
their probably going for the ultimate spiderman show route if harry becomes venom but highly doubt it
TheRationalNerd - 3/11/2013, 5:46 PM
@jerryblake

Agreed, but will they explain Eddie's story in Webb's film franchise or the Venom Spin-Off film???
jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 6:21 PM
@TheBlackWolverine

I do not believe that Sony would take the financial risk to make a Venom spin off already. Don't believe it will happen anytime soon.
If they will try to reintroduce Eddie to the audience it will probably be in TAS 4 or 5

My guess is that (if they of course don't go with the Ultimate Comics root - I [frick]ing pray for that ) in TAS 3 we could
see Green Goblin - Norman Osborn, Gwen Stacy Death.
In TAS - New Green Goblin - Harry, Hobgoblin maybe.
War of the Goblins would be cool.

TAS 5 - Venom

Then maybe spinoff.

TAS 6 - Carnage.

It's 6 pictures deal, that's a lot.

how hard would it be to have eddie working for the DB. He gets fired and peter takes his job. His rage builds up with ever new photo being printed of spider-man and wonders how parker gets all these amazing photos. Brock Fallows spider-man/peter to oscorp where peter breaks in trying to dig deeper into the whole parents/goblin stuff brock witnesses peter coming into contact with the symbiote. after the new black suited spider-man is seen sporting his stuff around town really cleaning up the badies peter has a breaking point and breaks his bond with the symbiote *over mj gwen drama *. Brock stalking pays off and he bonds with the symbiote learning everything about peter/spider-man that was left out.
jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 6:40 PM
@IIIAdamantiumIII

For me, if you wanna make Eddie work on screen you gotta show him as a man who can't deal with problems in his life and blames it on others. His wife left him, he can't handle his life, he's going down. He's making scum to rise up, but he's going down again. He blame Peter. He bond with symbiot. Symbiot shows him how to become stronger in real life. Yeah, it's a allegory. But for me it works

sephiroth211 - 3/11/2013, 6:48 PM
Damn, didn't know I'd get that much flack saying Harry could don the Hobgoblin persona.
jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 6:54 PM
@sephiroth211

Don't worry. It is called LIFE
jerryblake - 3/11/2013, 7:03 PM
@sephiroth211

I was growing up reading old comic books, not the Ultimate ones.
I'm open to changes, but some things just should stay intact.
Making Harry Venom ? Eddie is Venom, in first place.
Hobgoblin - Jason Macendale was (for me) the Hobgoblin.

You wanna update the Electro suit - no problem.
You wanna make Green Goblin a monster - no way.
Show me Norman Osborn going mad in the suit.

sephiroth211 - 3/11/2013, 7:21 PM
@jerryblake: Indeed, I am not worried.

I understand people are against change. The Goblin thing I figured could slide because Hobgoblin is still a Goblin. I just like change, and I would rather see Harry in a different suit instead of a copy of his father's. As I said, something like making Harry into Venom is a no no; however, changing Harry into Hobgoblin wouldn't be that much of a stretch to me. I know we as comic book readers are purist, but sometimes change is good. You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. Cheers mate.
