Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje In Talks To Play "Black Panther"!

Lost's Mr Eko and star of "GI Joe" has met with Marvel to discuss playing the African warrior-king.
"We're talking to Marvel about 'Black Panther,'" Akinnuoye-Agbaje told MTV News. "This is the first round, so you know, hopefully they'll look at 'G.I. Joe' and see the potential. But it's about time we have a black superhero, isn't it?"

"He's from a fictional village in Africa and the timing is so right for that kind of character to come through," he said. "And while I'm in my prime, this is the time. We've got [U.S. President Barack] Obama, now we need something on screen to represent, so... 'Panther,' man."

This guy is a great actor as fans of either "Lost" or prison drama "Oz" can tell you. I think he would make a great Black Panther. Lets hope this happens.

Torque - 7/26/2009, 8:29 PM
about time they get started on this movie
Ozymandias - 7/26/2009, 8:31 PM
He would be a great pic. Good find ror. Although contrary to his belief I think gijoe would be a strike AGAINST him. I would NOT let them look at gijoe :)
superdog - 7/26/2009, 8:40 PM
I think that's great....he's a fine actor, and I think he'll bring the right cultured look to the piece.

WEAPON911 - 7/26/2009, 8:48 PM
bytheby..it's just too bad about the 'represent' statement. Why can't actors all just be happy to be considered actors for their acting and successful for their success? Anyway, just a thought. I think all this blank-american stuff is very racist no matter who you are, and Black Panther or no, it's just about the acting....
WEAPON911 - 7/26/2009, 8:52 PM
He was the standout in get rich or die trying. A mediocre movie at best, but a really good performance from him. Damn good choice for panther, although he not the youngest guy on the street. Will he play the father, or the son?
ASSASSIN666 - 7/26/2009, 8:56 PM
Man this is the best news I've heard I love black panther and he's overdue for a movie im smellin him havin a cameo in avengers if theygot it in production at around the same time maybe nick fury mentions to cap at the end that there is mysterious activity goin on in a little village named wakanda and that would lead up to his own movie and then him bein in avengers 2...oh well just wishful thinkin :)
SabretoothTiger - 7/26/2009, 8:57 PM

GUNSMITH - 7/26/2009, 9:09 PM

Nick Fury-Samuel L. Jackson

AND

JENSEN ACKLES FOR CAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ozymandias - 7/26/2009, 9:11 PM
Love him!!!! He's a good actor, but Wesley is Black Panther.
starscream4president - 7/26/2009, 9:12 PM
Snipes was Blade people! AND, hes in prison, Kind of puts a dampener on movie roles and such! Plus, anyone who thinks this guy cant cut the action is nuts! All he did in Lost and Oz was beat the shit out of people!
RorMachine - 7/26/2009, 9:19 PM
THey should deff. try and put Black Panther in Avengers that would be very cool

See Ya, The ShakeBake
TheShakeBake - 7/26/2009, 9:22 PM
I really, really hope that they make the film, but they should use a younger actor for T'Challa. That way they can do a great origin story. Wesley Snipes should get the part of T'Chaka. If they use a young actor for T'Challa, they can really focus on T'Challa taking on the weighty responsibility of ruling a nation and inheriting the mantle of the Black Panther.
Cheesey1 - 7/26/2009, 9:24 PM
Wow! Never thought of them using Adewale for The Panther. Wesley Snipes has always wanted to do it but nothing ever got going even before his legal problems. Hopefully Black Panther will get the greenlight.
hewilldefytheirgravity - 7/26/2009, 9:33 PM
he was great in lost, as well as every other role ive ever seen him in, he'd be great for black panther!!!!

not a big deal, but i cant help but notice the stress the actor put on the character being a black superhero...there is so much more to the character than skin color, i would love to see this movie, but not just because he's black and our presidents black, like being black is the new accepted fad or something. i'll see this movie simply because black panther kicks ass!
JeremyBentham - 7/26/2009, 9:33 PM
Black is the new black!

But seriously, is it really such a big deal that they dude mentions that a black superhero in a predominantly white genre/field being brought to the big screen is a great thing? I don't think so.
RorMachine - 7/26/2009, 9:43 PM
Chiwetel Ejiofor for T'Challa, or a young unknown. He can definitely pull off the fighting (was a believable fighter in "Red Belt"), is a fantastic actor and is younger than Agbaje.
Cheesey1 - 7/26/2009, 9:50 PM
Fictional village in Africa? Try fictional country in Africa. Either Mr. Eko doesn't know his comics or doesn't know his geography.

It may seem like a little thing, but shouldn't the guy who's possibly going to play this role at least know that the person he's going to play is a king of an entire country not just from some fictional village?
alten2345 - 7/26/2009, 10:00 PM
Actually, is is a Great Thing. Maybe not to YOU...
but it is to Black People as well as People in General who have been wanting to see one with a Big Budget Behind it and Quality.

I mean, honestly, how many Featured Black Superheros have you seen with a Big Budget that is of Good Quality?

Lets see, there's BLADE 1 and 2, SPAWN was Good (its still being debated either way), Oh and HANCOCK was Mid-Core at Best to SUCKED at Worse for most Black people that saw it (just to let you know incase you didn't), Oh yeah, and METEOR MAN! (remember that?)

Now, how many of those were NOT R Rated?
Other then HANCOCK (sounds like the name or a porno Superhero)
You know...One that appeals to a Wider Audience...

So... You see.... it really IS a Big Deal.

We can only HOPE that the Movie is Done Right and Given a Bigger Bidget then DrangonBall and has more action the Fantastic Four 1 and 2 combined...LOL!

Maybe then, it can be released in a least over 2,000 theaters...

That would be nice.

:)

NubaX - 7/26/2009, 10:03 PM
hey NubaX do you think Favreau would include Black Panther in the Avengers movie or would it just be overkill?
verdell1978 - 7/26/2009, 10:21 PM
Nubax,

Speak on it brotha! I think it is easy to say why does this matter when an individual in no way can relate to an issue. I am actually for Chiwetel Ejiofor as Black Panther, have you seen Serenity? I think he would be better suited for the grace needed to play this part, also he seems to like one who would really embrace the character and find out the history rather than just reading a script.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje would be better off playing an enemy or his brother. I think he does find playing stereotypes but I do not think has the chops to play such a complex character. Black Panther is a king, a diplomat and one of the most respected characters in the Marvel Universe, this would be like Superman being the President of the United States. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is too basic to play him.

midnightexp26 - 7/26/2009, 10:51 PM
Remember the assassin from Serenity? He is my pick for Black Panther.
longbowhunter - 7/26/2009, 11:10 PM
I think Idris Elba could play the Black Panther would just have to get in Shape.
InstigatorGIRL - 7/26/2009, 11:28 PM
this dude raped so many people on Oz. lol.

the dude was a man raping machine.
Keven - 7/27/2009, 12:03 AM
lol keven

InstigatorGIRL - 7/27/2009, 12:07 AM
Okay why does everyone want to see a black superhero after Obama has gotten elected. Marvel and DC should have been putting out black heroes. The only one was Blade and that did very well.

Black Panther, Luke Cage and Black lighting, should have been done ages ago.

Also what about women heroes???

Catwomen???? Hollywood....Ya'll can do better.

You've been UNMASKED!
Unmasked - 7/27/2009, 12:10 AM
Keven @ Exactly! Every time I see him I think about Adebisi raping someone...and then I think how in the hell did he keep that damn hat on his head.

ViperXX79 - 7/27/2009, 12:12 AM
I will go see a Black Panther movie and it sure as hell won't have anything to do with Obama being president.
ViperXX79 - 7/27/2009, 12:15 AM
I will be going to see it too. It just seems that everyone in Hollywood has an excitement over black heroes. Just because Obama is in office. It;s not right.

You've been Unmasked!
Unmasked - 7/27/2009, 12:26 AM
Now if the movie sucks then I will blame Obama ;)
ViperXX79 - 7/27/2009, 12:35 AM
Perfect casting Adebisi was one scary dude! Plus he has the perfect accent and he's pretty damn buff. gonna be cgi acrobatics anyway.
Scarycherry - 7/27/2009, 12:51 AM
OMG KEVEN , i said the same thing about your mother.
shibazz - 7/27/2009, 1:07 AM
@UnMasked- speak on it, son! if that's the case why not name some supers like Honkey Land Stealer or something? or wait i got it... ummmm War Path or SilverFox which eludes to SilverTongue.......

i love the Black Panther though cuz he drank blood in the very first comic i ever read.
shibazz - 7/27/2009, 1:13 AM
OK this guy looks like a toad.... he is soooooo non threatening and he is "really dark" the type of guy my children could -Idealize- see as an equal. That being because he is sooo strange and removed by the standards being the way they are. Oh by the way ....
shibazz - 7/27/2009, 1:18 AM
Just watch Oz and you'll see him differently.
ViperXX79 - 7/27/2009, 1:22 AM
If promoted right....and done right first and foremost, it could be a great movie....it would be awesome if they included Halle as a younger storm....or hell, make the current storm part of the story line...that will sell tickets and could make a great story line. Black Panther is a mythos you could really play with and not piss too many people off.
JohnClayBurchett - 7/27/2009, 1:45 AM
Also some dude up there put Loki in the Avengers lineup...??? He's a silly goose.
JohnClayBurchett - 7/27/2009, 1:49 AM
You are joking!!!! OMG thats my pic for BLACK PANTHER!!!! I had the same pic tooo!!! Friggin sweet news!!! HELL YEAH!!!

; D

I swear to you all on my mothers life i did this pic about a week ago, infact ive been doing a huge AVENGERS cast for about a week an its nearly finished! I was going to finish it the WEEKEND but with COMIC CON on i didn't think it'll be worth it and get LOST (lol) with all them articles!!!

This is the best NEWS ever!!!!!

ROR i love you man!!!!!! ; D

HOLY SH!T Fantastic news!!! Mwwwaaaahhhh ; )

I LUV U ROR!!!!!!

I cannot believe it, anyone who has not seen him in LOST is in for a treat!!! OMG
LEEE777 - 7/27/2009, 1:55 AM
I think this guy could probally pull it off, but I'd much rather have the guy from Blood Diamond.
BLADE4040 - 7/27/2009, 3:26 AM
He seems a bit big to realisticly pull off all the sneeking about and acrobatics?? :(
teabag - 7/27/2009, 3:32 AM
never seen him in anything but he looks a good fit for the part. have to say though, out of all the Marvel characters Black Panther isthe ne im probably least interested in seeing a movie about!
JoshW - 7/27/2009, 3:37 AM
Ror - "But seriously, is it really such a big deal that they dude mentions that a black superhero in a predominantly white genre/field being brought to the big screen is a great thing? I don't think so.".... well said and I agree.

IMO Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a douche.

BLADE4040 - I agree Djimon Hounsou is perfect for BP.
SirPrize - 7/27/2009, 3:48 AM
Yeah, I was sort of hoping Djimon Hounsou would get it. But then again, given his age he'd probably be more perfectly suited as T'Chaka.

So, I wonder who they will get to play Ulysses Klaw.
WeaponX - 7/27/2009, 3:49 AM
Are you all completely nuts?????? He is perfect for the role!!!

He is BLACK PANTHER!!!
LEEE777 - 7/27/2009, 4:13 AM
Would prefer him as T'Chaka and somebody younger as T'Challa but hey he's Mr. Eko so I'm not complaining!!
Imran - 7/27/2009, 4:28 AM
LEEEE its like casting Dulph Lungdren as spiderman....wrong build,......Black Panther is one of my fav's so id like to see someone sleak take the role :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 5:00 AM
The free runner in Casino Royale would do it for me..

Thats your T'Challa :)

teabag - 7/27/2009, 5:10 AM
TEABAG @ But you want a MAN-SHE for WONDER WOMAN!!! ; D

Sorry, but ever since i saw him in LOST he ozzed T'CHALLA!!! He's is a quality actor and is the BLACK PANTHER!!! I wanted SNIPES till i saw him, but now its ADEWALE AKINNUOYE-AGBAJE (what a name lol) ALL THE WAY!!!
LEEE777 - 7/27/2009, 5:47 AM
LEEEE you want an unpopular ginger gay guy to play cap!!!!

Rhona Mitra for WW hehehe

Jodie Lynn for Maddam Masque lol

Now....if your guy did get the part LEEE then it would be cool to hear that name in the trailer :P

teabag - 7/27/2009, 6:16 AM
I've said it before and i'll say it again. Adewale is perfect for BP. I've been a fan of his since Ace Ventura: When Nautre Calls LOL :P

And Rhona Mitra for Elektra!!!

Shaman - 7/27/2009, 6:46 AM
I still would rather Derek Luke to play the Panther.
thwip284 - 7/27/2009, 6:50 AM
@ teabag: Agreed. I can see that guy being Black Panther!
BmanHall - 7/27/2009, 6:54 AM
Alten2345 has a point. Wakanda is a lot more than a "villiage in Africa". Wakanda has resources and technologies found nowhere else in the world. It's an advanced society that observes ancient tribal practices, and one of the most unique places in the Marvel U.
And IMO Akinnuoy- Agbaje is a pretty decent pick. He was great in Lost.
Black Panther is SUCH an awesome character. He's not very powerful, but still always prominently involved and significant, which is something I love about certain Marvel characters.
If I'm not mistaken he was the first black super hero, which in my mind means they should have made this movie a long damn time ago.
DarthMulder - 7/27/2009, 7:01 AM
BmanHall@ you da man!!

Problem being everyone only thinks of the few black actors they know....which is a shame really .....why dont we give a high profile movie to an unknown :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 7:02 AM
he is a great pick. and honestly guys, i picked him like 3 months ago. was gonna do a story about it but got lazy and didnt. but i swear on everything in the world that i picked this guy!!!!! sweet :)
superdog - 7/27/2009, 7:08 AM
Are you sure superdog???!!!???lol
teabag - 7/27/2009, 7:15 AM
I STILL WANT SNIPES..THIS MOKELEE MOMEMBE DUDE CANT FIGHT, HE DOESNT FIGHT LIKE A CAT..I CANT SEE HIM DOING ANYTHING ACROBATIC..ALL THEY SEE IS, HE'S BLACK..GET SOMEONE WITH FIGHTING SKILLS
GUNSMITH - 7/27/2009, 7:47 AM
@ teabag: No... You da man!

BmanHall - 7/27/2009, 7:52 AM
Dont be modest BmanHall....you da man...

:)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 8:02 AM
This is the best news i have heard all day. And he is Yoruba like me Yaaaaaay! They better not cast an American in this role.
MsKyle08 - 7/27/2009, 8:19 AM
First, he can play a diplomat as well - he played a ruthless diplomat in Bourne Identity. Second, no Wesley Snipes - he's not African. That goes for Derek Luke too. Let's keep to the African actors, not just African-American - i've heard Djimon Honsou's name thrown around too - he'd be a good pick for T'Chaka. Either way I'm superexcited!

One quick plot thought - remember in Wolverine Origins (the-movie-that-must-not-be-named) when they were looking for adamantium/vibranium meteorite fragments in an unnamed place in Africa? What if Weapon X and/or SHIELD invades Wakanda looking for their vibranium/adamantium deposits and BP has to fend them off single-handedly? Can't wait!!!
CarlLucasLukeCage - 7/27/2009, 8:25 AM
@ sirprize

LOL Djimon Hounsou is who i thought everyone wanted as black panther?? he seems perfect to me!!!!
CorndogBurglar - 7/27/2009, 8:27 AM
Djimon gets all the african roles. We need someone else. He can play Midnite in the next Hellblazer movie.
MsKyle08 - 7/27/2009, 8:31 AM
Sebastian Foucan for Black Panther

Imagine him in a jungle...

teabag - 7/27/2009, 8:39 AM
teabag@ that free running is awesome. they usually make me pay :)
superdog - 7/27/2009, 8:56 AM
I don't think he's a bad choice, but I would prefer Derek Luke.
Bandrews1 - 7/27/2009, 8:57 AM
Jensen Ackles for Black Panther.
SirPrize - 7/27/2009, 9:06 AM
why Derek Luke? I can just imagine the fake African accent *puke*
MsKyle08 - 7/27/2009, 9:07 AM
Derek Luke....God no
teabag - 7/27/2009, 9:27 AM
who is derek luke?
superdog - 7/27/2009, 9:50 AM
I have know idea superdog??:P
teabag - 7/27/2009, 10:01 AM
No idea who Derek Luke is either! So [frick] him!:)

The most important thing is acting ability..i doubt that jumping nut has any. You can train and learn how to fight in any way necessary for a movie..and what you cant learn you can fake..you cant fake being a convincing actor.
RorMachine - 7/27/2009, 10:07 AM
You cant fake acrobatic ability behind some big lunk of an actor with stupid ass cgi either :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 10:11 AM
what if you dont have either?

superdog - 7/27/2009, 10:26 AM
Derek Luke played Antoine Fisher in the movie named after him. Denzel's directing debut. I thought he was excellent but I would rather see Chiwetel Ejiofor in this role. He is english, but comes from Nigerian decent. Is a class actor, and can get the physical stuff down(I know everyone on here has seen him in Serenity, but watch him in a film called Redbelt. Excellent film.)

But since he won't be, maybe Ejiofor can be John Stewart. He's my pick, and would be much better than that hack of an actor Common...
TucsonRican - 7/27/2009, 10:27 AM
Teabag they can fake ANYTHING! Are you actually telling me if they can make a guy fly convincingly that they can't make this dude seem a bit more agile than he may actually be with wire work, cgi, forced perspective..you name it? Cmon dude. Anyway, like i said there is rigorous training to get these guys ready for these comic book roles. Would you rather they hired the jumping guy and sent him to acting classes for 5 years first?
RorMachine - 7/27/2009, 10:36 AM
Chiwetel does not look like T'Challa. Wale is Nigerian also.
MsKyle08 - 7/27/2009, 10:37 AM
I may not be a convincing actor, but I could fake being one well enough to fool everyone... My head hurts.
BigHeadSarge - 7/27/2009, 10:46 AM
teabag: Jodie Lynn O'Keefe for Maddam Masque is PERFECT!!! nice idea man!
JoshW - 7/27/2009, 10:49 AM
bighead@ its cause your head is so big......wait, thats what she said.

it is probably easier to teach someone to do athletic stuff than act. but these movies arent shakespeare, so it wouldnt take 5 years i dont think. i like the rock, and dont think hes a bad actor, not necessarily good, but he can at least pull off the roles that he gets selected for. the running guy might be able to do the same. then again he may sound like a girl when he talks.
superdog - 7/27/2009, 10:56 AM
Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Black Panther? yeah that'd work, that'd work really well
Frogman - 7/27/2009, 11:02 AM
I'm pleased with this development and hope that Akinnuoye-Agbaje gets the role as the Black Panther. That said, WEAPON911 as an African American(and I assume you are not) let me enlighten you on something. When Black Americans refer to themselves as African Americans it's a sense of pride, not racism. African Americans aren't racist however, some are prejudice. Racism by definition is when the sentiment of a race or members of that race feel their race is superior to all other races. African Americans by their circumstances alone aren't and never have been in a position to feel that way however, our white counterparts have. That's also not to say that people in Africa aren't racist because there are some who are. White Americans can trace their lineage beyond 5 generations easily however, most African Americans can't...we have to use the blanket term African American to describe our ancestry because we (or at least most of us) don't know much about anyone born before the turn of the 1900's. White Americans can say I've got German, French or Italian in me yet, African Americans can only say well, I know my ancestors are from some part of Africa...where I may never know. It's only been until recently that many of us are connecting and finding out about our origins so you should begrudge us our pride...in the next 100 years or so it may not really matter at all. This was not meant in a mean spirited way or with negative intentions.
urbansamurai70 - 7/27/2009, 11:50 AM
UUUUUUHHHHHH ok um...yeah ror@ Superman returns the flying cgi work was awful and please lets not forget the cgi enhanced fighting in Blade 2 and Matrix reloaded...all im saying is a little realism goes along way and like superdog said the acting isnt gonna be a stretch :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 11:58 AM
WESLEY SNIPES, JUST WAIT FOR HIM TO GET OUT, CANT BE THAT MUCH LONGER
GUNSMITH - 7/27/2009, 11:59 AM
HAHA Wesley snipes...........IDK....apart from Blade his only memorable performance was in Major League lol

Josh@ glad you like that idea...i dont see that jodie as a main character :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 12:09 PM
All acting is a stretch. Sometimes i think people dont put enough value on the performances in these type of movies just because they are action orientated. Those are the roles that require the most convincing actors! Like Bale, Downey Jr and Ed Norton..a lesser actor would drown in the absurdity of it all..like say, Jessica Alba or Julien McMahon! Those roles needed great actors to pull of convincing performances and they cast mediocre ones that delivered shite! I cant believe you would rather have a dude that can jump about a bit but has never so much as uttered a single word in a movie than an established actor like Mr Eko(im not gonna try spell his name!)
RorMachine - 7/27/2009, 12:26 PM
TucsonRican, I agree with you about Chiwetel. He was definitely a convincing fighter in RedBelt and his acting is always proper (Dirty Pretty Things - classic film), plus he's younger than Adewale. If not Chiwetel, then I hope Marvel will find somebody young as they did with Hemsworth for Thor.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 1:00 PM
Snipes for T'Chaka. He isn't in the clink yet and may not be there for a while.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 1:01 PM
Chiwetal Ejiofor is the best fit for Black Panther. He's a talented actor(Shakespearian trained)who can handle the task of acting regal(the Assasin in Serenity is a great example). He can also handle the action sequences(Serenity,Red Belt). He's a decent age(33 or 34). And he actually LOOKS the part of T'Challa!!!

Mr.Ecko - Images(disturbing man rape ones)from OZ are still burned in my scarred memory! He is a good actor though.

Hounsou - Too old. Another fine actor.

Snipes - NO!

Samuel L.Jackson - I'm surprised he didn't land the role yet as he's in EVERYTHING. They could just use a split screen or something as Nick Fury(Jackson) talked to Panther(also Jackson).Uh oh let's hope he doesn't see this, he'd probably like the idea.

usclerkguy - 7/27/2009, 1:06 PM
USClerk, I agree with you. I said Snipes for T'Chaka, who is T'Challa's (Black Panther) father and was also a Black Panther
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 1:08 PM
Ror...i guess what i mean is....the jumping guy could be the greatest acting talent of our generation (a stretch i know) but who knows.....have faith in new talent.....and you shouldnt just except a big lug and hope cgi helps with the Panthers style :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 2:21 PM
the guy from blood diamond is gonna be black panther
redhulkan3 - 7/27/2009, 3:36 PM
THis guy is also in The Return of the Mummy. He's the big guy that goes the O'connel's house to get the bracelet of Anubis. Good accent, good actor! I say give it to him.

To those saying "Someone younger, give it to Snipes", he is older than this dude! DAMN!
WulfComicFan - 7/27/2009, 3:47 PM
tebag@ snipes was the shit in passenger 57...always bet on black!!!!!
superdog - 7/27/2009, 4:28 PM
WulfComicFan, no one is saying that Snipes is younger than the Oz bum bandit. I'm saying that Chiwetel Ejiofor is younger and that Snipes would be great as his father. If you are familiar with the Black Panther story you would know that the origin story of the Black Panther features his father quite a bit.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 4:57 PM
Thats right Superdog and just plain shit in 90% of his other movies :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 4:57 PM
Wesley was the man in White Men Can't Jump,Jungle Fever,One Night Stand, New Jack City (Nino Brown - a true badass), The Waterdance (classic), Major League, Mo Better Blues, Sugar Hill and U.S. Marshalls was a decent performance as was Rising Sun with Sean Connery. Even though he had a relatively small part in the King of New York, he did a nice job and that flick is a classic. In addition to all of these flicks of course he brought Blade to life.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 5:11 PM
Cheesey for the eleven films you mentioned i can name 29 shit movies....would you like me to? :)
teabag - 7/27/2009, 5:39 PM
The Haitian from Heroes should play Black Panther, forgot his real name....oh yea, The Haitian. :)
CaptainAmerica - 7/27/2009, 5:43 PM
Please do and let me know if it equals 90%.... But seriously, yes he has made some rubbish stuff, but he's still the man.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 5:48 PM
Cheesy@ I agree with you. All of those movies were good. He has made some shit but that's pretty recent when his career started to go down and he was doing anything for a buck. But that happens with most actors toward the end of thier careers and it's no where near 90% (sorry T) I actually liked a couple you left off, drop zone and boiling point. Thought those were good too.

Black Panther? YES! Finally! cool... but this guy.. I dont know... He doesnt really do it for me.

Hey Rorschach01 !! Man!!! .. My hubby says I should be ashamed that I never saw C.O.T!! and says I have embarrassed HIM!!!! He says I should be banished & took the movie!!! HOW RUDE!!! EVEN HE SAW IT!! I CANT F*CKING BELIEVE IT!! EVERYONE HAS SEEN IT BUT ME!! WELL, I remedied that this weekend (when he finally gave it back)! I saw it and keeping in mind it was from 70's.. I liked it. Now, I look forward to the remake to be better able to compare. Just have to see V now!
KeepItReal - 7/27/2009, 6:42 PM
tea@ hey i liked demolition man
"ive been dreaming about killing you for 40 years"

"oh yeah, well keep dreaming"

fcking classic man!!!!
superdog - 7/27/2009, 7:18 PM
Teabag, sorry mate. The Waterdance was a classic and his performance as a resentful guy in wheelchair was great. One Night Stand was good. Demolition Man served its purpose. Drop Zone, Murder at 1600 and Art of War were very suspect, but not complete rubbish.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 8:00 PM
Also, you can't blame him for Blade Trinity, that was all Goyer's doing. If you recall, Snipes and goyer had a very public disagreement during the filming and lo and behold much of Wesley's criticism seemed valid after watching the final product.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 8:04 PM
I also noticed that you had Sugar Hill on there too, maybe it wasn't your cup of tea, but it was a decent flick. Even Waiting to Exhale was pleasant and that was a well received flick.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 8:09 PM
I keep noticing stuff on your list that makes no sense. The Fan had De Niro in it. Definitely not a perfect film, but come on.., even Down in the Delta had some artistic merit.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 8:13 PM
Superdog, I agree with you.
Cheesey1 - 7/27/2009, 8:33 PM
Cheesey.......just cus a film has de niro in it doesnt make it a good movie.....oh and Snipes was a producer for Trinity so he shoulda spoke up a bit

Each to there own i guess :)
teabag - 7/28/2009, 1:02 AM
I liked BLADE TRINITY! ; D

Not as good as the first two but better than that bloody prequel tv series!

Anyway MARVEL has found their perfect BLACK PANTHER!!!

Snipes can do BLADE 4 when he gets out heh heh! : D

KEEP @ Whats C.O.T????
LEEE777 - 7/28/2009, 6:20 AM
Teabag, fair enough.
Cheesey1 - 7/28/2009, 7:10 AM
Crazy thing is This guys accent is prolly his real accent he is originally from Nigeria so i say his a nice pick, Djimon would be better though by far
Neo24real - 7/28/2009, 7:20 AM
Clash Of The Titans! haha, so you finally watched it KIR? Told ya the effects will have dated a lot, still good though.

Snipes is a good actor..i know this because i have seen him act very well in some very good movies. Case closed!
RorMachine - 7/28/2009, 8:03 AM
I-Girl, Idris Elba can act (Sometimes in April - v. nice film, very depressing, but powerful), but I just don't see him as T'Challa. If you haven't seen Dirty Pretty Things with Chiwetel Ejiofor, I highly recommend it. Djimon would have been perfect 10 years ago, he's just too old for T'Challa's origin story. He could be a contender for T'Challa's father, but I still think Snipes is the man for the part of BP's father. They could have somee cool scenes with T'Chaka teaching T'Challa some Black Panther moves.
Cheesey1 - 7/28/2009, 8:31 AM
Snipes sucks...case opened :)
teabag - 7/28/2009, 9:48 AM
Ok i am on the boat for this guy. he just needs more acting skills. just a little more.
shibazz - 7/28/2009, 1:57 PM
ok i would have to say either idris elba or djimon hounsou for t'chaka and derek luke for t'challa he has the acting chops for it(antoine fisher) all he would have to do is get in shape for it really
SabretoothTiger - 7/28/2009, 2:22 PM
First of all - if you were in Biker Boyz - you are automatically ELIMINATED from contention.

Unfortunately, this eliminates the perfect actor for the role: Djimon Honsou. Fortunately it eliminates the HORRIBLE actor that is Derek Luke.

This leaves Adebisi and Chiwetel.

If you've raped a man in a role - you are automatically ELIMINATED from contention.

And so - through attrition, Chiwetel Ejiofor is your winner! He has the acting chops, lineage and familiarity with action roles to get it done.
DrDoomsday - 7/30/2009, 8:18 PM
Thank you mignightexp26!

That guy Adewale is cool, but not my Ideal choice. Snipes is cool but I think I'd want either *Micheal Jai White* or *The Free Runner from the Bond Movie*.

I actually thought that Free Runner would be Perfect for the Black Panther when I saw him. (Similar to like how Ray Park plays his roles and does the actual Stunts in his movies.)

NubaX - 8/1/2009, 3:39 PM
Oh...and to whoever that was that said people just want a Black Superhero so Bad because of Obama is CLUELESS!

Im Black, was happy for him the History he made, but I don't agree with Everything he does and it certainly doesn't make me feel any differnt about how I still precieve this country and especially about me wanting a quailty Superhero to watch on the Big Screen.

Infact, do us a favor and Stop bringing him up. I got love for the Brotha but only to a certain point. Thats just Media Hype trying to revolve even the simple, entertaing things around him as if we (black people or whoever) is wanting certain things based off him. We've wanted this LONG BEFORE OBAMA WAS EVEN KNOWN!

I want to see a Quality movie to be made regardless of Obama or whatever President is in the White House.

NubaX - 8/1/2009, 3:51 PM
forget all these guys!!! no one can throw down like michael jai white, not even wesley snipes! check out his mastery of many forms of martial arts on youtube... he was also spawn! michael should be the black panther, he's got the acrobatics and fighting skills!
