Paul Rudd & Steve Carell Joke About ANT-MAN Casting

In a video interview with Total Film to promote the Anchorman sequel, Rudd (alongside costar Carell) continues to play it coy when quizzed about being up for the lead in Marvel's Ant-Man movie..though I'm not sure I'm buying it! Click on and see what you think.

In the following vid, Paul Rudd once again denies all knowledge of being involved with Edgar Wright's Ant-Man beyond the "rumors" we've all heard. But when asked if he'd like to play a superhero he says, depending on the superhero, he'd be as excited about it as any other role - as long as it was a "cool part and an interesting take on stuff". Then Steve Carell chimes in and jokes that he actually wants to play Ant-Man. We don't learn anything new from Rudd in regards to his casting obviously, but lets just say I think he needs to work on his poker face!

This movie is extremely intriguing. Could be a surprise success.
ATrueHero1987 - 12/16/2013, 9:53 AM
I'm ready to learn who the villain(s) in this movie will be and if Rudd will play the lead or not. Now let me get off this article because I KNOW where it's going to go...
JoeMomma29 - 12/16/2013, 9:53 AM
Well it could be a major hit or major disappointment. I am sure the movie will be right down the middle.
WruceBayne - 12/16/2013, 9:58 AM
What happens if Rudd isn't being misleading? Maybe he isn't in the running for Antman.
TheRationalNerd - 12/16/2013, 9:59 AM
It feels more like a heist film more than a scientific brainy movie. I think it'll do great but I'm just wondering as @ATrueHero1987 stated himself "who's going to be the villain/villains" just puzzling you know?

However I'm dying to know if we'll get some I for on The Incredible Hulk sequel and Black Panther. I believe Fiege said by next year we'll know for sure. My lucky guess "Comic-Con" :(

Hard to read, not sure, sometimes it's super obvious

Could see him as Pym though, so we'll see. Imagine Lang will fill the "villain" role, actually be more exciting for me, I've stopped getting excited about having a good villain...Think Pym and Lang could work great, certainly sounds like theyre both in the film, maybe do need a minor villain they can eventually team up on though
Batmaniac - 12/16/2013, 10:02 AM
I'll be happy if Paul Rudd isn't cast as Hank Pym/Ant-Man. I'd give him a chance if he does give cast, but I'd prefer Ewan McGregor
Mastyrwerk - 12/16/2013, 10:23 AM
"You'd be MARVELous".

Well played, Rudd.
thebearjew - 12/16/2013, 10:30 AM
I noticed that too MARVELous
Omarvls - 12/16/2013, 10:35 AM
@Desrow

Hey you're starting to look like Groundhog Day
like you're in a time loop
every time there is Marvel news

In other words it's getting OLD
CherryBomb - 12/16/2013, 10:37 AM
I don't want this to be a purely comedic movie
And the more dramatic roles I've seen Rudd in haven't impressed me.

So, I'm not too optimistic about this potential casting.
DEVLIN712 - 12/16/2013, 10:38 AM
Let's start a petition to get Steve Carrel as Doctor Strange!
FantasticSpidey - 12/16/2013, 10:50 AM
Comedic actors are the best actors in the world, it is much harder to be funny than to act like you're in love, or sad.

Whenever you see a comedic actor take on a serious role, if given the right direction, they are usually fantastic. Look at Steve Carell, or Will Ferrell, or Jim Carrey. They have done some films that are just fantastic.
mctrinket - 12/16/2013, 12:17 PM
Steve Carell for Ant Man!
Joementum - 12/16/2013, 12:27 PM
Who could replace Garret Morris?

How about Kevin Heart?

jimoakley666 - 12/16/2013, 1:05 PM
Ooow, exciting...
BasedThanos - 12/16/2013, 1:33 PM
Wow, I do not Rudd as Ant-Man AT ALL. Not one bit.
@Joementum
"Hulk, check this guy out, he's got the strength of a human" LMAO!
npamusic - 12/16/2013, 1:35 PM
Vague....

NFSxThanos - 12/16/2013, 2:07 PM
As I said in another article, Paul has seen the script and the new script will be received later in the week. He has been asked and is interested, but still not sure. The villain is an interesting choice. I'm personally excited and hope he takes it.
AGoodHonestMan - 12/16/2013, 2:27 PM
@ NFS

On a scale of 1-10 how interested is the guy and who's the villian? MODOK?
Joementum - 12/16/2013, 2:29 PM
tossing this in the casting hat

NFSxThanos - 12/16/2013, 2:36 PM
A good honest man - I cannot say. But its VERY interesting what they have planned! ;)
Cartoon22 - 12/16/2013, 3:22 PM
Joementum that would work the perfect wasp and antman
Tyrus - 12/16/2013, 3:25 PM
Paul is definitely in the mix. Elizabeth Olsen and Josh Brolin were just as coy as Rudd is at the moment.
Bodwulf - 12/16/2013, 3:54 PM
2nd time he has denied this.....
GreenLanternRulez - 12/16/2013, 3:55 PM
I want Steve Carrell for AntMan now! Thanks alot random video!
Voiceofthevoiceless - 12/16/2013, 5:41 PM
Wright will kill it, he has not produced/directed one flick I didnt like
ImTheCaptainOfThisShip - 12/16/2013, 6:44 PM
Carrell as ant man? Why the [frick] not.
OneAboveAll - 12/16/2013, 7:38 PM
Did anyone else notice he said "MARVELous" at the end of the interview?? Huh? huh? You guys know what that means right??????
mgeoff88 - 12/16/2013, 9:23 PM
What Paul Rudd is wearing looks like something Hank Pym would wear lol.

He is definitely involved with the Ant-Man movie. When a person looks to the left after being asked a question, it means they're thinking about things they have learned in the past.

If he didn't really know anything about Ant-Man, he wouldn't be looking to the left nearly as much as he is.
MightyZeus - 12/16/2013, 11:09 PM
I'm worried about how this film will turn out. It could be fantastic like 'Iron Man' or it could be a failure like 'Green Lantern'.

On another note, why not give Carrell an acting part in Ant Man
loki668 - 12/17/2013, 12:25 AM
@Desrow

That's IT!! C'MERE!!!

third3ye - 12/17/2013, 3:18 PM
