Evangeline Lilly Was Up For WONDER WOMAN Role Back In 2005
The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug actress has revealed to MTV that she actually met with Warner Bros. for their -- now defunct obviously -- big screen Wonder Woman movie, seemingly back when Joss Whedon had the reigns. Read on for more.
Peter Jackson may have persuaded her play Tauriel in his second Hobbit flick, but after Lost finished up Evangeline Lilly shunned roles in big-budget blockbuster type movies, preferring to keep out of the spotlight and focus on writing. But, that could have all been VERY different if she'd have taken the role of the first ever big-screen Wonder Woman! "I actually went in and met on Wonder Woman at one point," Lilly told MTV News. "Before the thing fell apart. That was early, that was first season of 'LOST' before I went, wait a minute, I don't know if I want to do this!" Nothing is certain, but the time-frame suggests that this would indeed have been Avengers director Joss Whedon's take on the character, and not the Diana that would have appeared in George Miller's "Justice League: Mortal". Lilly may have kept clear of these type of movies up until now..but should the opportunity arise to play a role like that in the future? "Would I want to jump into a franchise like that at this point? It's all speculation, but it is super flattering, it's crazy flattering". It's all moot now anyway of course since Gal Gadot will play the role in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel - but do you think Lilly would have made a good Wonder Woman? Sound off below.
