Another Crow film is moving forward in its development

The much controversial Crow series seems to be flying again...
Director Stephen Norrington has a draft that is well received by Relativity Media. They are now setting their sights in casting.

This is what Norrington's idea for the next outing of the crow:


Back in December, Norrington described what he hoped to bring to the franchise in terms of sharpening its tone for 21st century audiences. "Whereas [Alex] Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style," Norrington said at the time.

I must admit after Brandon Lee's Crow, I did not watch the subsequent movies. Though with Norrington on board and what he did with the first Blade movie, I'll give this one a try.

I did see all of the Crow movies. Even a few episodes of the TV show. After the original it went down hill.

Cool, love The Crow!! Glad theres more news on it!!

Actually CROW 3 wasn't that bad, but 4 was horrible lol, and really bad acting to-boot!

I think it sucks! They had no right doing anymore of them after Brandon died. The character died with him rest in peace already.

While I really enjoyed the original, I wouldn't mind seeing someone else's view of the character. I never saw anything past the first film, so I can't pass a judgement on those.

I say bring it on.

Please leave this franchise alone. The first one is a classic, an amazing film. Any sequels were unnecessary and the less we say about the tv show (The Crow in court?! With a suit?!!) the better.
And after LXG, I dont trust Stephen Norrington.

Yes I agree with Assasin whole Heartedly. It was a classic in it's own right. Leave it be. Concentrate on getting more comic characters. There are so many to choose from.

If they are to remake this film - as blasphemous as it is - then further deviation from the source material is not the way to go, in fact they should make it more like the comic than the first film. That's the only direction it should take. Not go "documentary-style" on it. What the [frick]?

@Shaman - Stewart Townsend is a good call.

Well, the first was the greatest. bar none. But i happened o watch atleast the second one and it happened to not be that bad. The 3rd one was pure evil. Not good at all. I really didnt get to see the 4th one. Not convinsed it was gonna be good either. Guess what... it wasnt. Sooooo... Being that the director from the first Blade(magic) is on board, im pretty excited to see what happens. Viva Brandon Lee!!

WeaponX- I agree with everything you said!!!

MrDCGuy23- Yeah, that's what i've been saying all along!!! Norington made the first Blade which is my very favorite for it's gritt and realism when compared to the other two. So what if he bombed The League. Not everybody can shoot Alan Moore's work, brilliantly. The first Blade's feel would be PERFECT for The Crow's concept. But i want them to stick to the comic this time or do something totally original and NOT call it a re-boot.

I loved the first two, the 3rd and 4th were meh. By meh, I mean I could honestly never see or hear of them again and not give a poo. Edward Furlong is too weak seeming to come off like a "coming back from the dead" badass that the Crow is supposed to be like. They need somebody who is so bad ass that they'll have to throw an extra body part in describing him like bad ass-taint or bad ass-chin

I'm down with Stuart Townsend. Brandon was wonderful, but I wasn't truely happy with his Crow take. The new movie needs the 80's hair, slit wrists, and the most important aspect IMO, his damn left eye. And also for this to work, bada** soundtrack with oldschool and newschool bands.

I have a very eerie feeling that they're going to try to Dark Knight their way around it and essentially make The Crow into Heath Ledger's Joker but a good guy.

yeahhh Norrington did Blade 1 almost ten years ago...but you know what his LAST movie was?

LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN!

Now, I like the original Crow film, but we still haven't seen a film that is nearly as good as the graphic novel (which is almost as good as Watchmen to me)...and who do we give this comic adaptation/remake to??? THE LXG GUY!!!

Come on guys, after you direct LXG, you should not be allowed, BY LAW, to ever direct a comic book movie again, and no, Blade from 1998 does not make up for it, it's a good film up until the end which was really anticlimactic.

Alot of people do not realize that the Crow is way more than a movie. Before Brandon even stepped up to the role it was a comic created by James O' Barr. There were male crow, female, white, black, even a native american crow.
it's not just one character, it's a story of vengence and justice.
Yes Lee did a great job of Eric Draven, as Health ledger did as Joker, for these times.
For the times back in the 60's Ceaser Romero was a perfect Joker.
So I believe a reboot of a Crow into todays standerd, and environment will be great.

I said something about this a long time ago & I'm gonna say it again: There does not need to be another re-booted movie when the first one was perfectly fine. I think it's a complete waste of time, I propose that on the day of this movie's release, everybody go out and buy a copy of the Brandon Lee original; even if you already own it. Show Hollywood that there are some things that you just shouldn't touch.

I can understand the need for some re-boots (Batman), because it went downhill, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the original. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

First off before you guys jump on me for making my point, let me just say; the first Crow film by Alex Proyas was a work of art and Brandon Lee was the perfect choice to play the Crow in the story Proyas laid out. I loved that movie, but before the movie I knew the comic by James O’Barr and as great as the film was it was nothing like the source. The basic plot was there: boy loves girl, boy and girl murdered, boy comes back for revenge. Aside from that the film bore little resemblance to the book.

The Crow was the first “Adult” comic I ever read. It was the story that showed me that there were more stories to tell than those of superheroes. It really stuck with me there in my formative years in the late eighties and early nineties. I cannot express how good the book is.

For those who have never read it; The Crow is a dark, violent, masochistic, necrophilia laced, heroin nightmare, of blood, rage and self loathing at a molecular level. It is a revenge story so potent you believe that a man would HAVE to come back from the dead after seeing what happened to his beloved. In the book Eric bears witness to Shelly’s death and is psychologically mutilated by it… for those who have not read the book, rape is the least of the degradations she has to endure. He hates himself for his weakness, for his failure, for not being able to save her, for his inability to be with her now in death because even though she is at peace what he saw will not allow him rest without vengeance. The cruelty at the heart of each death, of both the innocent and the guilty, in the book is very disturbing.

Despite my love for the movie, if Norrington can bring me the book and the filthy feel of circa 1981 Detroit at the height of the era of punk and heroine its time as the murder capital of the world, I will fall at the guy’s feet. Proyas’ vision was one of the beauty of decay, and the early industrial age of rock and gothic imagery… it was too pretty. It treated what happened it treated Eric and Shelly and their suffering with kid gloves and the vengeance wrought upon their killers with kid gloves, I want the feeling of discomfort at watching the movie that I had reading the book. I hope it conveys the gritty and realness of O’Barr’s art. I want to smell the dinginess the blood and beer and vomit. If he can give me this I want this movie more than words can say. If he cannot; then leave me with my pretty version of the Crow. I’ll be glad to wait until someone brings about a truer adaptation of the story.

Basically I feel like if a straight adaptation of the book was made, the look, feel ,and story would be so different from the 1994 movie that it would and could stand on its own just fine. Anyone who has read the book knows it will be almost a totally different story save for the names.

I just want the original story given its due. Before you chastise that, read the book then watch the movie and tell me if they are the same thing. If you haven't read the book it’s about time you did; you're missing out on a comic masterpiece.

TRUE IT WASN'T LIKE THE BOOK TOTALLY..BUT IT MIGHT BE THE NEXT TIME AROUND..BRANDON HAS THAT ONE AND MAKES IT GREAT, THIS NEW VERSION WILL BE ON ITS OWN AND NOT TAKE AWAY FROM BRANDONS PERFORMANCE AT ALL...GREAT THINGS NEVER FADE AWAY...EVERYTHING MADE TO GREAT THINGS IS JUST A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL THATS NEVER QUITE AS SHARP, BUT THE SAME, BUT YET IF THIS GUY CAN COME FROM A NEW POINTOF VIEW WE MAY HAVE SOMETHING..WHAT DO YOU PREFER PEOPLE WILLY WONKA JOHNNY DEPP OR WILLY WONKA GENE WILDER?

I read luke goss was gonna play the next crow..He was awsum in blade 2 and hell boy 2....i think he would do an awsum job as the crow!

@movietheatrelad- Dont you find it strange how Brandon Lee died as the Crow and then soon after Heath Ledger had filmed the Joker (the dark knight's version's appearence is based off of the crow) he died

so basically, dont ever act in a film where you kind of look like the Crow, you might just die. o_0

Seriously though, I'd be fine with another Crow movie, it's the same deal with Heath Ledger and the Joker character, Brandon Lee is not the Crow, he played the crow, big difference. A character should not die because the actor died, yeah he played it amazingly and it'll be hard to fill his shoes but the Crow can and should be done again. I think the real question should be if Norrington can give us another Blade with the Crow or not.
