"The Spirit" movie was visually exciting. You've never seen anything like it.

Saw the premiere on Wednesday. This is clearly a comic book on the screen. If you are expecting a film adaptation of a comic book property, you will be disappointed. This is like sitting in a comfy chair and reading the comic book without having to turn the pages.
Sam Jackson was the most worrisome character to me going in. It turned out fine. His performance fits together far better than I could have hoped. While I would have preferred more 'evil' and a real sense of jeopardy, he comes off as a crazy who has no limits. And all the loony costumes just fit into the piece nicely.

Scarlett seems a little under used, but she has a good part that could have been an excellent part.

Macht is an excellent SPIRIT. This will make him a star.

Eva Mendes will never be confused for an actress, but she does a good job.

Sarah Paulson is terrific.

Lauria is excellent. The best scenes are between him and Macht.

Visually, you've never seen anything like it. But you have go in knowing that you are watching a comic book unfold on the screen.
