Batman 3 Fan Trailer

This one casts Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin and Johhny Depp as The Riddler..
Well, this isn't really up to any kind of standard when you look at the GL fan clip..but its ok. Nice use of Hoffman's monologue from Mission Impossible 3. But the rest is very meh. Depp is in there as The Riddler..or at least thats what I assume since the screen goes a bit green and we see a question mark.



Its no secret I don't want The Fiddler anywhere near the next Batman, but I guess The penguin could work if they treat his character a bit like this. I still want the main villain to be someone different entirely though.

hardly, the worst Batman villains, technically, are the Calendar Man and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

Ventriloquist would actually work in Nolan's Batman films because he focuses so much on the criminal underworld and the differing mob bosses. What's crazier than a guy with a split-personality disorder and follows the orders of a creepy looking puppet?

It's pretty well done, particularly the Penguin parts. But no to both Hoffman as Penguin and Depp as Riddler :)

I feel the next movie needs Clayface and Penguin. And for Clayface I don't want the cartoon, mud man. I am thinking more of a master of disguise who implicates Bruce in some major crimes and brings Batman’s true identity close to being revealed to Gotham. And the Penguin would stay more with the comic where he just a short in stature business man who commits crimes.

One key item that Nolan or who ever makes the next Batman is not to go the way of spider man and start introducing 3-4 more villains. Keep the villain list short and sweet so a plot and story can actually be developed.

As for the trailer I am never a fan of these cut and paste videos

Keeping the villain list short..is a great idea and I hope they do that. Two at max, Clayface would be awesome. The idea of him implicated Bruce is awesome. With just a little CGI and some great make up Clayface would be great. I think I darker Batman film would be great. With Clayface and Bain. They could work together to destroy Bruce Wayne thus destroy Batman.

I doubt we'll see a CLAYFACE, MANBAT etc in this BATMAN franchise.

I like the idea of deathstroke. Especially with Batman being "responsable" for the death of the variosu people at the end of Dark Knight. Batman now becomes the hunted criminal.

First...I have to say EXCELLENT JOB considering what you had to work with to make this trailer.

Second...I say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES To Hoffin as the Penguin and YES to Depp as the Riddler!

That would be absolutely FANTASTIC to see the Both of them play those Characters in this Film.

don't get me wrong i like depp but not for this role
it would be too much like ledger's joker, unless he played
it slightly insane like his willy wonka. the problem with
having the riddler at all is the comparisons made to joker.
also depp + batman franchise; might equal burton as director
let's stay away from that... helena bonham carter will end up
playing harley quinn and nick cage will have cameo as superman.

I don't quite understand why The Riddler would be a bad choice for the next film...especially if he was handled like the Zodiac Killer...you know, just some crazy guy who steals, murders, etc--but before he does all that, he mails out impossible puzzles that, if decoded, would allow him to be caught...

Because even if it did go that route, its boring! How many times have we seen that? From Zodiac, to Kiss The Girls, The Watcher..you name a Hollywood serial killer thriller and its probably similar. I don't fancy sitting through a Batman movie were people are killed, Batman plays sodoku, catches The Riddler..the end. The Fiddler sucks no matter how you slice it, there isn't even a damn comic arc that he has appeared in (except maybe Hush, and his uselessness is a factor in that too!) that stands out in any way. He is seen as a staple of Batman's rogue gallery by default. He was in the early comics, in the tv series, must be a great villain right? Balls. Catwoman mops the floor with him. We not only get an interesting sexual tension and dynamic between her and Bats, we get to see some hand to hand combat too. Deadshot, maybe not as well known, but would be a great choice now that Batman is a fugitive..Deathstroke would never happen.

@Ror--I guess in my fit of "about-to-fall-asleep" I forgot to explain that I don't really think Riddler should be the main villain (or in it at all, I don't really care either way, as long as the film's good), but my idea was (an, I'm on the fence about whether I love or hate this idea, but it helps get JLA to the big screen so, eh) that when report after report of "Fugitive Batman" escaping justice that a group of masked vigilantes have decided to join the hunt and track down this guy because he's giving them a bad name. In this case, any actual Batman rogue would take a back seat to the early-gestation JLA, and the story would focus on Batman trying to solve a string of...whatever crime his rogue fancies this time...while evading the capture of people who actually pose a threat to him. Of course it all ends nice and happy--The JLA realize Batman isn't crazy, (he just has a sore throat...or, that's my guess, anyway) and they briefly join forces to stop a major attack on Gotham. In that case, [frick], Batmite could be the villain he's after for all I care, he'd be a background element.

Also, my favorite thing you said was "Balls. Catwoman mops the floor with him." because I get this mental image. . .

penguin arms dealer was a good concept...but black mask and firefly remain my faves....why riddler? joker in tdk already acted with his games and toying with bats...a la the riddler...it would be repetitive...we need hardcore villain gangsters in nolan's world...maybe scarface...heck i wanna see mad hatter or hugo strange..
catwoman...NO...we dont need that love dynamic for bruce...not after rachel's death...maybe if she appeared at the end to set up a part 4

not necessarily, when burton left, the people that followed him made movies that were NOTHING like the first 2. i'm scared of a replacement director because there is no telling what we'll get.

if nolan doesn't return, then i say reboot for the JLA!

The RIddler is too obvious and so is the Penguin. That is some tired boring shit. Since we're probably gonna get shafted on the Lizard for Spiderman 4 I vote Killer Croc.

PS this fan trailer sucks. Jonny Depp in a bathrobe does not a Riddler make.

I'd love to see depp as the riddler. If any of you(and I'd assume most of you do) read comics, you definitely need to read "The Joker" graphic novel. Everything in that novel is dark and more realistic. The way the riddler is protrayed could absolutely be transferred to the big screen look at this link to see another different look for the riddler. Sure, Riddler is a bit of a tool in the comics. Hes your typical genius with an inferiority complex with obnoxoius OCD symptoms to boot. Still, Nolan's version will likely be a bit different than the comic one. So far we've seen Scarecrow, Joker, Ras and Two-Face, and while each is noticably similar to their comic book counterparts, they each of a unique twist on them. Riddler will likely be the same, and if Nolan chooses him for the villian I will trust in his vision. He hasn't steered us wrong yet, right?

As great as a movie with Black Mask, Ventriloquist or Deadshot will be, I doubt Nolan will use them. They are not known well enough, and with Nolan acting so finicky about doing further instalments to the franchise, the studios will probably INSIST they use a better known character like the Riddler, Catwoman or even the Penguin. Both Mask and Deadshot would fit perfectly in the Nolanverse, and I can see using them as a crimelord or hired assassin, but Im guessing the marquee character will probably be one of the more well known ones. Lets hope we can see one of 'em in the next movie.

Leee- I'm totally with ya on the Depp/Riddler thing, but I doubt they will use both Deadshot and Deathstroke. They are too similar (at least to a non-fan) to warrent both. Still, that would be freakin' awesome, though ;)

i know nolan could make the riddler a bad @$$ villain. and the only other villains i think he would use would be bane, joker but i doubt they will use another actor, but ben foster could do it,penguin,harley,and ras alghouls daughter.who knows?
