Anne Hathaway Confirms That She Is Catwoman & Not Simply Selina Kyle In TDKR

Not a huge surprise(for some anyway!), but In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Hathaway refers to herself as Catwoman for the first time. Check it out..

I realize this will come as no surprise to many, but you wouldn't believe the amount of people that were convinced that Chris Nolan had cast Hathaway as Selina Kyle only(as outlined in the official press release) and not her leather wearing alter ego. In this interview Hathway refers to herself(and indeed I believe this is the first time anyone associated with the movie has used the name) as Catwoman..



So there you go. Hathway will not simply be portraying Selina Kyle. Expect her to be suiting up and getting Batman's head all frazzled.

I never doubted they wouldnt use Catwoman when Selina Kyle was announced. Us fans take these press releases too literaly.

I guess Anne would have said Catwoman if she didn't read the script yet. Her character could be a love interest, or even a prostitute. The press release only said Selnia Kyle...
@partyhard: I agree that Anne Hathaway is miscast in a sexual likeness. She is not beautiful IMO. but I think Marion Cotillard was pretty hot in Inception. So was Carrie-Anne Moss in Memento.

Creature, c'mon dude, how many interview have we seen with Nolan and Hathaway in which they went out of their way to correct the interviewer when they said the word Catwoman?

"Uh, Selina Kyle yes..." etc.

It's all just an attempt to keep the fans guessing as long as possible. Anyone who thinks Nolan would use Kyle and not Catwoman is crazy!

@Dynamo Implying married people with children can't be gay. And even if he isn't gay, he still has terrible taste in women.

Christopher Nolan really knows how to find talent.
She is one of the smartest and most dedicated actors out there.
The amount of research she does on each of her characters is unbelievable.
The best thing about Nolan's CBM's is that he actually casts good passionate actors that give it their all, instead of treating it like a fun mindless Superhero movie.

I think she'll do great as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

TDKR is going to be my most anticipated film of 2012. Superman is pretty much tied with it though. The Amazing Spider-Man looks great as well. Should be a great time!

AWESOME! Let's see if she can top Michelle Pfeifer's Catwoman! That'll be tough. But I always liked Hathaway. Was a biiiig supporter of her as Lois Lane for the Superman reboot. But if she must be Catwoman I have the utmost faith in her ability to do so!

Hathaway is an underwhelming casting choice, much like Aaron Eckhart was in the previous film. Who knows, she may do something different with it.

Oh come on she is way better looking then Katie and Maggie. On a scale of 1-10 Katie and Maggie are like a 2 and Ann is an 8. And some of you who say Hathaway is unattractive I have seen you say Natalie Portman is hot, no taste. Natalie Portman is maybe a 3 and has the body of a 12 year old boy. She does not come close to Hathaway.

Alright not saying that Nolan has wonderful taste in women for movies, but would you rather have a "sexy" woman like Megan Fox in the movie who couldn't act to save her life, OR Anne Hathaway whom is a wonderful actress, but is JUST pretty

Anne Hathaway is pretty, not drop dead gorgeous, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind having a couple hours alone with her.

Oh Yes...Let's Question The Man Who Brought Us The Best Batman Movie...no wait...the greatest CBM ever....because he has casted someone who everybody is thinking...uhhh really?...kinda rings a bell doesn't it...a certain bell that rang 3 years ago....when heath was cast as the joker...alot of them were like, No Way! No Way Will he do it...but BAM! he nailed it...he made a great joker...and Anne Hathaway will probably be a great Catwoman...just don't doubt Nolan people.

I don't understand all of the hate towards both Catwoman and Anne Hathaway. Catwoman has always been Batman's femme fatale foil. She understands things about him that he doesn't even understand himself and that's how she gets under his skin. Anne Hathaway is a good actor and since she started with the tiara movies she has done nothing but improve. I, for one, am looking forward to TDKR and Nolan's take on this character. BTW, I hope they don't use the prostitute angle, I never liked that point of view.

i was shocked when heath ledger was cast as the joker in TDK but we all know how that turned out.....have faith in nolan.

@THABATMAN It depends. She's playing Catwoman. She needs to be extremely sexy. Same goes for most female comic book characters. I much prefer an actress who can actually ACT, but this role requires looks just as much. Is there an actress out there that is equally hot and talented? Or is that just a fantasy?
