Inspired by some Cosplayers at last year's SDCC, artist Yasmin Liang has put together this cool pic featuring gender role reversal in the JL ranks..

I like this a lot, but she made the female characters kinda masculine looking - doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? Anyway you can check out more of Liang's work at her blog HERE.

That's lame. And those dudes in the real pic need to get some freakin pants.
RorMachine - 1/15/2012, 8:49 AM
haha, I think a one off "what if" type story might be cool with all the roles reversed. I wouldn't have Wonder..ehh, Man in that outfit though.
Bodwulf - 1/15/2012, 8:50 AM
They should make a gender bent Earth where all genders are switched and have someone from DC get sent there (Bats ,Supes, Or WW). That would be a cool concept.
Zene456 - 1/15/2012, 8:51 AM
I feel sick.....
chasesuperremey - 1/15/2012, 8:52 AM

JDUKE25 - 1/15/2012, 8:55 AM
@Ror yeah, well as long as the dudes actually get their own Male versions of the costume and not directly off the hanger from Wonder Woman's closet then it MIGHT be ok.
RorMachine - 1/15/2012, 8:55 AM
Actually that pic is a bit disturbing..I think i'll just source link it so u can look if you want!
JDUKE25 - 1/15/2012, 8:57 AM

I vaguely remember an issue of the silver age Superman where he encountered a gender swopped earth - I think it had something to do with that mxypikl guy?
Geeksiah - 1/15/2012, 9:16 AM
Great Art...

Hmmmm I guess since I'm straight and not homophobic I have no issue with it.

Go figure, lol
Tman - 1/15/2012, 9:19 AM
Heres the cover for that gender swop issue from the silver age superman
AsianVersionOfET - 1/15/2012, 9:24 AM
Wonder-Man!
Jolt17 - 1/15/2012, 9:30 AM
Indeed the women are too much masculine...I'm still not sure whether that Flash has been gender-reversed or not.

Anyway, I believe Wonder Woman has ever been a man once - can't recall though if it's Diana or just another man. And isn't there an Earth that has all the heroes' genders reversed indeed? Think I've ever seen that, just can't remember which.
Tman - 1/15/2012, 9:32 AM

CherryBomb - 1/15/2012, 9:36 AM
This is how it should be! Girl power <3
Haha i love the image though! I especially like Aquaman/woman
Jolt17 - 1/15/2012, 9:37 AM
Never mind, Tman has got that Wonder Ma...um, Warrior I was referring to.
NeoBaggins - 1/15/2012, 10:31 AM
lmao They didn't even bother making the bat suit feminine. Its just a chick wearing batmans suit. Probably didnt want to recreate batgirl since she already exist, but damn, at least some heels on the boots. Something.

Oh wait, I think I know what they were going for. The short hair on most of them explains it. They are supposed to be dude-ish.
WorldsGreatestdetective - 1/15/2012, 10:32 AM
I usually don't like to be harsh on artist or fan art but because the characters are so iconic and that changing the gender has to have a certain creative edge to make them look different and yet still in league with the character, the art in this pic just doesn't do enough justice
alucard365 - 1/15/2012, 10:36 AM
Why can't Diana wear the armor, DC is so sexiest it's disgusting.
themayer88 - 1/15/2012, 10:43 AM
Awful.
Djleroy - 1/15/2012, 10:54 AM
Just wrong on so many levels
superotherside - 1/15/2012, 11:16 AM
Weird. Good art though.
brewtownpsych - 1/15/2012, 11:35 AM
@tea re: AM, lol. i always thought he looked a little butch.
BlindLemonShemp - 1/15/2012, 11:53 AM
this is sexist and despicable...
colossus68x - 1/15/2012, 12:58 PM
The aquawoman looks like Justin bieber
MaddMonkk - 1/15/2012, 1:10 PM
that comic would have go in the special box hidden under my bed with the other "magazines"
eleven59 - 1/15/2012, 1:27 PM
So its basically an all female JL...

Lmao... Aquaman does look the same!!!
MovieTheaterLad - 1/15/2012, 2:22 PM
Stuff like this can be found everywhere.

It's known as Rule 63.
dyk420 - 1/15/2012, 2:38 PM

AGENTJAY1130 - 1/15/2012, 2:48 PM
AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAAAAHAHHAH!!!! WTF!
DioFoRio - 1/15/2012, 3:30 PM
@mgeoff88....they don't look manish...it's just that they don't look whoreish. I think more people should draw women a lil more realistically. When I get my book done I hope to accomplish that. making women strong sexy and realistic. and not dressing like night club bimbettes or strippers
DioFoRio - 1/15/2012, 3:31 PM
awww you deleted yer post geoff88
mgeoff88 - 1/15/2012, 3:32 PM
It's interesting to see when artists does this kind of stuff.

But why did the artist have to make the women look masculine?

I don't like it when comic book artists draw female superheroes like that. It's kind of like saying women only can appear strong if they're given mannish features... Women can be beautiful, feminine and still look strong. You don't have to take away their femininity to make them stronger.

@CherryBomb Believe me, I'm all for girl power, but I think this is more of a miss. And what surprises me even more is the fact that the artist is a woman. :/

@teabag Nice find! Those are much, much better. Even Wonderman looks cool.
JDUKE25 - 1/15/2012, 3:49 PM
@tea that version of Wonder Warrior, apparently is the name, looks pretty cool. And with Woman Flash, is that lightning or her shoelaces?
mgeoff88 - 1/15/2012, 3:57 PM
@Dionysios Sorry, I was trying to save some comment space, which is now a moot point.

I wasn't talking about the way they dress, I meant more like their facial features.

Perfect Example:

Obviously, Alex Ross wanted her to look very strong(masculine) in the face here. This artist wanted to make her look younger, but in fact made her more feminine looking.

I prefer the after picture. She looks much more feminine and she still looks just as strong if not stronger.
DioFoRio - 1/15/2012, 4:40 PM
@Mgeoff....I get your point with that Alex Ross piece. I concur...she can still have a soft face and be "buff".
DioFoRio - 1/15/2012, 4:42 PM
@HeroesofGalactus.....Dude if comic companies made male heroes like the wonder man one you showed..they could gain so many more readers. Surprised no ones done it yet
revolver737 - 1/15/2012, 8:00 PM
Hey its Kit Quinn (superwoman) and her crew!!! They are really cool people and she is gorgeous in person. And her cosplays are great. haters gonna hate I guess.
Akercocke - 1/16/2012, 7:58 AM
they look like a bunch of transvestites!
JackBauer - 1/16/2012, 8:05 AM
They look too masculine. I really couldn't tell that Aquaman, Batman and the Flash were supposed to be female at first.
