We now know that The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 will be released on January 29, 2013. Below you'll find the cover art for the highly-anticipated follow up, along with the trailer just in case you missed it last time - although be warned, if you haven't read Frank Miller's graphic Novel, it gives FAR too much away!..

Special features included on the disc will be all new featurettes, 3 bonus cartoons, a digital comic, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Superman: Unbound animated feature.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 picks up where the first left off with Batman having returned to Gotham with an all new Robin, however not everyone is welcoming him back to the streets. Gotham City's police are on a manhunt for the Batman as is the newly released Joker. As Batman attempts to stop the Joker one last time, the United States goverment teams up with Superman to bring the Dark Knight down for good.

Peter Weller returns as the voice of the aged Dark Knight along with Ariel Winter as Carrie Kelly, the new Robin. "Lost's" Michael Emerson provides the voice of the 'cured' Joker and Mark Valley will play the Man of Tomorrow, Superman.

Spideyguy94 - 11/6/2012, 1:38 PM
Hope they bring out the complete movie on one disc one day
Rowsdower - 11/6/2012, 1:41 PM
Failure on so many levels. Bruce returned to his original chest emblem in the second half of the story.

It should be the cover of the 4th issue, since it has the big fight with Superman at the end.
GoILL - 11/6/2012, 1:46 PM
Covers for both could have been better but it's not a big deal since the movie is the most important thing.
jimpinto24 - 11/6/2012, 1:55 PM
The cover is sick!
Greengo - 11/6/2012, 2:11 PM

BlueDemon - 11/6/2012, 2:11 PM

The box art for these movies sucks, but hopefully part 2 is as good, or better than part 1 was. Can't wait.
8thDynasty - 11/6/2012, 2:22 PM
Nice Popeye arm.
KnobGoblin - 11/6/2012, 2:26 PM
Why not just do something simple and iconic like the silhouettes from the comics as the DVD covers?

OtakuPapi - 11/6/2012, 2:28 PM
Part 1...Shouldve been an actual movie it was so great
avengersleagueofjusticeforamerica - 11/6/2012, 2:32 PM

laughterman26 - 11/6/2012, 2:33 PM
part one cover was pretty badass
BlackFlash - 11/6/2012, 2:48 PM
Terrible the anatomy is completely messed up especially the arms and hands, look at his left hand holding the rope -_-
TheManWithBigEars - 11/6/2012, 3:15 PM
I didn't really like Weller as Bats... I'm probably in the minority but I dunno I prefer Bats 2 have a more grizzled yet intelligent voice... Weller had the intelligent part nailed but not grizzled enough; Bruce Boxlietner's Rinzler voice from 'Tron: Legacy' seems like the best route 2 take... Forgetting that, the 1st 1 was ok, nothing amazing...
marvel72 - 11/6/2012, 3:23 PM
batman under the red hood is still my favorite, the dark knight returns would of been if both parts were on one disc.
LAWLZY96 - 11/6/2012, 3:32 PM
Both the covers are generic, i don't like either. the first part was a great movie though
Wildaniel - 11/6/2012, 3:36 PM
BBBB BATMAN DARLING!
Azrael725 - 11/6/2012, 3:47 PM
why does batman look like he has a lobster claw for a cape on the comic covers? :p
FightAs0ne - 11/6/2012, 4:39 PM
Wow I don't like this cover. Part 1 was much better.
BillyBatson1000 - 11/6/2012, 4:53 PM
The story is too good for this AWFUL art to ruin. Wrong suit design - and an artist with NO grasp of basic anatomy. The 'hand' holding the rope would have to be dislocated at that angle. What is WRONG with DC these days? This should be a Blue Chip roll out for the best Batman story in decades. Instead it looks second rate, cheap and CLUELESS. No wonder people download free versions of films. No bad packaging, no forced advertising. And yes, I will be paying for my version - and am not encouraging pirating. But DC, you're asking form contempt. Unless a miracle happens, I won't be going anywhere near a live action JLA movie. You people have been asleep at the wheel for FAR TOO LONG.
siggisuperman - 11/6/2012, 5:17 PM
already saw this at comic con. first one was better but it's nice
HavocPrime - 11/6/2012, 5:34 PM
Would have said that Rob Liefield did the cover due to the pouches, but you can see Bat's feet.
Minghagz - 11/6/2012, 6:47 PM
1/29/13!!! The next biggest day for me!!!
NorseGod - 11/6/2012, 7:00 PM
you're right, that cover gives far too much away! ;) j/k
JayJayCAW - 11/6/2012, 7:03 PM
....from late 2013, to mid 2013.....to the end of the first month of 2013.....I'm not complaining but damn, I wish all of DC's animated movies came out this fast lol
ThePowerCosmic - 11/6/2012, 7:26 PM
TheDukeofNY

Totally agree! These covers are just Ok. Simple and iconic would be better. WB has never been that great with packaging.
MutantEquality - 11/6/2012, 8:03 PM
Anyone here that says they won't be paying to see a live action JL movie is lying to themselves.

That being said

I love Love LOVE these animated movies. I don't have to worry if their costumes are accurate, if they will have super powers or if they are being portrayed accurately to their comic book counterpart.

All I have to work about is if their voice feels right which I can always get used to, whether the art is top notch which has never distracted from the movie and whether they left too much out from the comic and they are always good about that.

I just don't understand why they don't do live action this way. Costumes 100% accurate, a great story directly adapted and as close as possible to the source material.

DO IT
CrashTest - 11/6/2012, 10:33 PM
very, very nice!
TheDetectiveComicRises - 11/7/2012, 1:25 AM
Cover looks great! I will buy The Dark Knight Rises next month & The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 the next month great way to end & begin the New Year!
EtriganTheDemon - 11/7/2012, 2:01 AM
Box art sucks, Movie sucks, special features lacking heavily (on the first part, anyways).

Moral of the story: Read the source material and screw everything else.
plasticman - 11/7/2012, 6:37 AM
What's with the gas cloud behind Batman on this cover? Too much fiber in the ol' guy's diet has affected his bodily gas development. You would think he'd have something in his utility belt for that.

Speaking of bodily gas, what have you been breathing in, Etrigan? And why did you steal Grif's schtick?
hatrick3 - 11/7/2012, 7:11 AM
I agree with TheDukeOfNY as far as the artwork goes. But it doesn't matter. Part 1 was great! Got a feeling Part 2 will be even better. Can't wait to add it to my collection.
Supes17 - 11/7/2012, 8:13 AM
THE FIRE RISES lmao

But yeah he doesn't even look like the cover art
JULEZ13 - 11/7/2012, 1:39 PM
Ehhhh... the drawing looks awkward. I can't exactly put my finger on it with the quick look I got.

The 1st cover was A LOT better! By a large margin. Coloring is nice, but issues with the figure take away from the entire illustration.
