And we really wanted him to have another stab at it too! The "X Men: Last Stand" Director tells MTV his feeling on returning to the franchise..
Brett Ratner definitely made an impression with the 3rd movie in the X Men series, but not necessarily a good one! MTV asked him if he would ever consider returning to the franchise..
"The thing with the 'X-Men' universe is, I feel like I've already done it, Certain things I would go after, and certain things only if the script is great."
According to Ratner, some of those projects he'd be interested in as both a filmmaker and fan include the oft-mentioned "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class."
"I heard a rumor that they were going to do a young 'X-Men,' which would be great," he said of "First Class." "I would love to see a 'Magneto' movie personally, because I love the Holocaust backstory. I'd love to see a 'Storm' movie, too."
Even though Ratner enjoyed the Hugh Jackman-starring "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," he wasn't as certain of some of the other "X-Men" spin-offs, such as the Ryan Reynolds-headlining "Deadpool" movie.
"Deadpool? I don't know," he said. "That would depend on the script."
But even if Ratner's return is highly unlikely, he still has his preference as to who should take over..
"I'd love to see [Steven] Spielberg do it," Ratner said. "A Spielberg 'X-Men' movie would be something I'd love to see."
Me too! That would be something.
I didn't even think X3 was as bad as people make out, it was certainly the weakest of the 3, focusing too much on action and neglecting little things like plot and character development that the previous movies did so well. But not a complete disaster i felt.
