OK, honestly, who doesn't love a good fight scene? I know I do! An epic fight scene can sometimes define a CBM (The Incredible Hulk) or make us laugh at it (Daredevil). Anyways, after reading Ror's fail of a list (sorry man), I decided to my own, but divide it into sub-categories. This is the first in several I hope to do. I'll give what I consider the best and then sit back and watch the sparks fly amongst you fellow fanboys. Cause let's face it: no matter how much of a nuisance some of us may be (Grif, Teabag)we all want the same thing: a good comic book movie. Anyway's, on to the list!
I decided to keep these selections as the fights that were one vs. one/two/three, not a whole big group fight (like the finale of X3 or Fantastic Four).
10. Iron Man 2- Race Track Attack
Sure, it may be a bit short but it does have a lot going for it. We get to see Whiplash use his whips for the first time, Tony use the suitcase armor, and just good 'ol, straight up hand to hand fighting. Tyler Durden would be proud.
9. Spider-Man- Spidey vs. Goblin Final Fight
I had a real hard time putting this at 9 (I wanted to put it higher). I really like this scene and though both Maguire and Dafoe played their roles perfectly here. The only real reason I dropped it to 9 was the constant monologuing by Osborn.
8. Thor- Thor vs. Loki
I thought this was a really strong scene that played on the distinct personalities of of Thor and Loki. I especially like how Loki is portrayed as a "victim" of sorts we (the audience) are meant to pity. Really looking forward to seeing him in "The Avengers".
7. Iron Man- Final Fight vs. Iron Monger
UGH! You'd think a movie that came out 3 years ago would have the final fight scene on YouTube. I'm just gonna assume you all have seen it and know what I'm talking about. The fight between Tony and Stane was really strong, because Stane had been like a father to Tony for so many years, only to turn around and try to kill him. Downey was awesome as usual and Bridges gave, what I thought at least, a really underrated performance. Great way to wrap up a movie.
6. Batman Begins- Batman vs. Ra's
The infamous scene where Ra's may or may not have died....I'm just kidding. He did die. Nolan's not reviving him. Anyway, again another awesome fight scene, with Batman taking on his mentor. Classic scene.
5. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen- Forest Fight
First, YES!!!!, this is a CBM. Second, say what you want about the film and it's many flaws, this fight scene was epic! We really didn't get to see much of Optimus fighting in the first movie (his 1 minute fight w/Bonecrusher and his brief fight with Megatron) but this made up for it. Easily the best scene of the movie (complain all you want, the action scenes with the bots are sick), I just had to stick this in, even though I know some of ya'll will whine and moan about it.
4. The Dark Knight- Batman vs. Joker Final Fight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9psvYv1O4I
Sorry, they all have disabled embedding. This was a fantastic scene. I remember when I watched it in theaters and Batman threw Joker off the roof. I immediately thought that Batman had just broken his rule and killed him. Glad he didn't. The scene wraps up nicely with Joker's final parting words for Batman, gloating how he had still won. Chilling.
3. X2: X-Men United- Wolverine vs. Deathstrike
Before I start, just let me say that the opening scene of "X2" is for sure the best of the film. But this is a strong second. We finally get to see Wolverine go 1 on 1 with someone who can hold their own in a fight with him (and not like that crappy fight with Sabretooth in "X-Men". Wolverine vs. Mystigue should never top Wolverine vs. Sabretooth). While Deathstrike had pretty much no character development whatsoever in the rest of the film, seeing her take on Wolverine the way she does makes up for it.
2. The Incredible Hulk- Hulk vs. Abomination
Just an awesome, awesome fight scene. Made the movie.
1. Spider-Man 2- Train Fight
This is what a CBM fight scene should be. This felt like it was right out of the comics. Fantastically done scene by Raimi.
Anyway, that's my first list. Check back next week! And please comment below.
