The increasingly busy Singer, who has Jack the Giant Slayer coming out next year and will next be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past, will, according to Deadline, develope, executive produce and possibly direct this proposed TV version. The deal is being finalized with the estate of the late Rod Serling, who created the original 1959-64 anthology series that was earmarked by its unique twist endings.

An underrated remake series aired on CBS from 1985-89, with Forest Whitaker serving as host of a 2002 version that aired on UPN.

No word on what this will mean for the feature film version, that was supposed to be directed by Matt Reeves, though that plan may be changed by the fact that he's signed on to direct Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

I hope he does this right, the original Twilight Zzone is one of my favorite TV shows. I also hope it's in black and white.

Did you see the '80s version? Considering the seemingly impossible task of following Serling, I think they managed some damn good storytelling.

picture a moody girl going on a crappy journey beyond sight & sound featuring sparkley vampires & werewolves you've just entered....

I liked all the incarnations of tz, even the Forrest Whitaker series had some good stories. But with singers name attached I think it might try and be like the original series, which might not fit with today's viewers

I wish I could somehow be a part of this project. Like...on the writing staff or something. A man can dream, right?
InfiniteMonkey - 12/20/2012, 6:08 AM
No one is going to watch this shit.
Its not like anyone is begging for it and the market is not even there.
ComicBookGoth - 12/20/2012, 6:24 AM

SWelch - 12/20/2012, 7:29 AM
@EdGross

I agree even though the 80's version was pale in comparison to the original it did have some gems among them.

I would really love to see a remake/reboot of Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories. It only lasted for a few seasons, but every individual episode/story was pretty awesome. Anyone else remember this?

My favorite one is still about the WWII gunner who draws landing gear on his bomber so that he and he crew will survive. Kinda cheesy I know, but it's my childhood lol ;-)

I think Kevin Costner was in this episode. There were a lot of A-list actors that made appearances in this series since it was a single story episode based show.
Deadshot - 12/20/2012, 9:24 AM
The original series was such a work of art, if this is even half as good, then it will be the best thing on television.
Rowsdower - 12/20/2012, 11:44 AM
I don't get this Singer hate.

The Munsters reboot sure did suck though.

@Suspensesmith

"Nope... fag ass Bryan Singer is gonna [frick] this up, I just know it.

Twilight Zone had such a tight narrative with a keen sense of delivering a moral message.

Singer is sloppy with narrative and is an amoral douchebag... wtf is he gonna do?"

The irony in your statements is so appalling, that it makes you seem mentally and emotionally handicapped. So much so that I don't believe you ill understand my meaning and will perceive this as an insult or an affront.
bababoozer - 12/20/2012, 4:32 PM
TZ is the best show. Does this mean he'll do the old stories, but shot new? The other shows, and their copycats, seemed too contrived. If it were well-written, this could be an excellent series.
Smallvillefan21 - 12/20/2012, 6:00 PM
To those of you who think Bryan Singer sucks,
CoLest - 12/20/2012, 11:14 PM
@gunsmith- Perfect choice. i can totally see it. But dont let bryan singer touch it! Just force his retirement!!!! PLEASE, BEFORE HE SCREWS THIS UP!!!!!
