THOR has begun filming!

Today, January 11, 2010, Thor began filming under the direction of Kenneth Branagh.

If reports are to be believed, the climax of the film is the first thing to be filmed. So Chris is probably doing some big action work as we speak!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doubted whether this day would ever come. I mean, we're always hearing that they're making all these movies, they say they have a script being written, they say they have a director even, and then things just never happen.

With Thor, this was certainly the case, and when Matthew Vaughn dropped out, I just thought "Here we go again. Another director drops out of another would-be project. I'm sure they'll dilly dally with it for a long time more, assuring us it will happen, until they give up.

When Branagh signed on, I felt serious doubt as to whether he would actually end up behind a camera. I usually remain skeptical until serious casting is announced, so once we got Thor, and then the supporting cast, I knew we had a real movie on our hands!

Even then, though, it seemed to take forever for them to get going! Is it just me, or do most movies start shooting a lot earlier after initial casting then this movie did?

Oh well, it's happening now, and that's what matters! Let's hope it will be worth the wait!

EDIT: Whoops! Sorry for the confusion. I previously made this page on the 10th, but I then realized shooting didn't start until the next day. My bad! I should have known it wouldn't start on a Sunday, but that's just what I heard! Or thought I heard! Oh well. It's fixed now. Woo hoo! THOR's filming!

@Teabag: Not bad! I think I could live with that.

I don't much care for the hammer but if it was like that it would placate the "brick on a stick" crowd.

Pretty cool. I like the helmet too.

lol @ Grif

In most movies don't they shoot the action sequences first. I wonder what's happening right now.

Oooops Sorry I forgot u said that already..lol

IRONRED - 1/11/2010, 2:01 PM
This is how i see THOR cameo into IRONMAN2 movie:

(after credits)

IRONMAN enters hellcarrier flying and meets Fury, they walk together while Fury inform IRONMAN about a crazy european guy who is the leader of some kind of enviromental group that has making protest into streets.

IRONMAN says: "so? do you want me to stop them?"

FURY says: (pointing giant TV screen) "NO. I want you to convince him to join us."

On the TV screen: we just see the shadow of a flying blond hair man in the middle of a giant-size thunder-storm. Big thunder noise .... and ... black screen!!!!

I’m based on what we have seen until now with IRONMAN and The Incredible Hulk, which looks really “ultimate” to me. Plus, I think the best approaching to a contemporary THOR is the Ultimate one. Some kind of messiah which believe he is a god and everybody just thinks he is a crazy guy with some incredible powers with a great heart.

So I think, in THOR movie we will see the Asgard storyline, where we will see a classic Thor fighting his demonds and the bad guys (LOTR look) in parallel with an actual guy story: An european medicine student who is some kind of schizophrenic and has hallucination problems sometimes (everything mounted as a LOST chapter, in which we never know which one is the main plot). So the movie will end with the death of the Asgardian THOR (or ODIN sending him to earth), and a mental breakdown of our contemporary medicine student, sending him to a medical institution for mental problems. And here is where he understand HE IS THE REENCARNATION OF THOR (but everyone thinks he is a crazy man).

In this way, in the avengers we will see the ULTIMATE THOR, who is this medicine student who believes he is the reincarnation of thor and that he has been sended to save the earth and leads a group of hippies in Europe.

What do you think?
Phinehas - 1/11/2010, 3:53 PM
I sure hope they don't use the Ultimate Thor angle. Its soooo lame. The whole Blake concept is compelling but Branaugh already said no to that and Elizabethan English.
Fumbles - 1/11/2010, 6:15 PM
I'm thinking they are doing these action sequences first to get an early release for a teaser or possible full trailer... which is least to say I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Layperson - 1/12/2010, 6:14 AM
I've got to say I'm more enthusiastic about Thor than any other work marvel has done. This movie will hopefully change the way the mainstream audience views Thor and comicbooks on a whole

From what I've heard, they're filming stuff with Ray Stevenson and Jaimie Alexander right now. Which would lead me to believe the final fight between Thor and Loki is no the first thing being filmed. Unless they're involved in it somehow.
