VENOM film - what do YOU think?

Venom is getting a solo film, but what will it be like? This is an open poll to the fans to see how YOU would like to see one of Spidey's greatest foes.
After Venom's role in Spider-Man 3 was one of the biggest dissapointments of the film, Sony is trying again by giving Venom his own film. The writers have just handed in their first draft, but no feedback has been recieved as of me writing this. So, since we are on the topic, I was wondering what the fans want to see happen in the film. I am putting out a poll on various aspects of the film, and the best picks will be announced on the site. Here are the questions:

1. Should the film keep in continuity with what happens in Spidey 3, or ignore those events and make something different?

2. Should Topher Grace return in the role, or should a new face come in? If the latter is your answer, who should replace Grace?

3. Who do you think should direct the movie?

4. Should Carnage appear in the movie?

5. Should the film be more friendly to everyone (PG-13/12) or should it be a gorefest (R/18)


I will announce the results once enough replies have been recieved. This should hopefully create an image of what the fans would like to see in the film.

it should be a gore fest. deffinetly a hard R. and since they wont do it, and it makes no sense after the horrible result he had in sp3. if it was a success, ok, spin-off. otherwise? DUMB IDEA!!

The chances of this movie happening are infinitesimal, but I'll bite.

1. Ignore Spidey 3. Start from scratch.

2. No Topher Grace. He was miscast in 3, plus, he died in 3, plus, this shouldn't have anything to do with 3. No suggestions on a specific replacement; just get a good actor with body mass.

3. James Cameron.

4. If this is a reboot, then the first film should be the origin, so no Carnage. If it is a continuation from SM 3, then, yes.

5. I would shoot for "R".

That having been said, this is an utterly ridiculous idea. If they were going to make a stand-alone Venom film, then they should have done that from the beginning and not included him in the Spider-franchise. That would have been ridiculous also, but not as ridiculous this.

Either direction Sony pursues(unrelated reboot or spin-off) is going to seem idiotic to fans and mass audiences alike.

k first of all, hell no it should not follow spider man 3 cause that movie sucked. then topher grace was a joke pick and they should never have used him so i would try to find someone else. as much as i hate him i think that Brock Lesner would be a good pick just because he is so big. not sure on director, but as for carnage he should have like a little cameo, like on the news they take about Cletus Kasady like being arrested or something like that. but i think the movie needs to go R rating and be just a crazy [frick]in mess of blood and shit like that. and even in the end like they can show Cletus Kasady like about to join and become carnage and then it can like black out

holy shit i have to say i do sort of agree with supermike someone hit me please but no i do i mean i like venom i do but to me venom isn't venom without his hatred for the webslinger i say no following spiderman 3 (the thought of that movie needs to leave my head) no topher grace that is bad they shouldn't have used him anyway and they don't need a wrestler to play eddie brock just a tall built guy who is a good actor i think that del toro or cameron should direct and seriously it needs to be rated R

It should be an R rated gorefest type movie, but not a typical comic book movie. It should be more of a human eating alien is after us style not following Eddie through the whole movie. Sort of like Predator didn't follow the alien. Just because he is stopped it doesn't mean no sequel or bad movie. Look at any horror movie franchise.

Vin Diesel wants to play a villain so maybe he would like Venom.

Carnage should be in a sequel if it deserves one.

No idea who should direct it.

It's funny Diesel has been brought up. I was watching a Diesel film this weekend and thought, "Now that's who should've been Eddie in Spider-Man 3."

I mean, he's not the greatest actor in the world by any means, but he has the perfect build and is decent enough in the acting department to pull it off.

This is what it think should happen and I know it has nothing to do with the books but what movie does.
A body is in the hospital covered in bandages with a chart hanging on it he bed that says john doe then it pans down to see the Symbiote dripping from the bandage as the heart monitor slows down. The Symbiote goes over to another bed with patient that is hooked to a brain monitor that show he is brain dead after the Symbiote gets on the man his eyes open. The nurse comes over to the man and says his name and the man says my name is Eddie because the Symbiote took eddies brain pattern with it and you can have a different actor and still be Eddie just idea I know it would need allot of work.

Uhm... Wadewilson1, Eddie's body was incinerated in SM3. I already posted an article about it with frames from the movie and all. All they would have to roll into the morgue would have been ashes and bone fragments. Aside from that, due to the nature of the relationship between symbiote and host, it is believable. Afterall, The symbiote retained many traits of Spider Man when it transferred to Eddie, my favorite is being immune to Spidey's 'Spider Sense'.

Its Hollywood it don’t have to be just like it was in sm3 make it out that he’s body could have been protected by the symbiote enough that it didn’t kill him just blown him off the buildind and kept him alive long enough for it to find a new host. Look at dark man the villain was blown up in a helicopter and he was still alive in the 2nd movie but that maybe a bad example. But just an idea.

I think the best way for a venom movie rated R would be to make Venom established. Show him at the beginning at night in the rain on top of a building. Have some dialogue like "We spent most of our life hating one man, fighting him... We realized that he was trying to do the right thing, except we do it better."(We being eddie+venom as he talks in the comics) Then have him drop from the building on some muggers, show the fear in their eyes as Venom tears them limb from limb and hands the purse to the woman who is terrified from watching venom butcher the muggers. The movie would then follow Eddie with his darker acts of heroism across San Francisco as he is hunting for a serial killer Kletus Cassiday. Venom does not find him but the police do. Venom sneaks to Kletus's jail cell and explains he was planning on killing him for his actions but the police got to him first. As Venom leaves his symbiote leaves behind a symbiote spawn and Kletus becomes Carnage. Carnage then goes on a rampage throughout San Francisco and Venom comes to stop him. Venom asks who he is and Carnage responds "Don't you recognize me dad, I'm your son." The Carnage face peels back to show Kletus. The battle ensues with Carnage massacring lots of civilians. Venom finally beats him and realizes what the symbiote does to a person and Eddie tries to break free of the bond. He eventually does and the movie ends with Eddie walking off down the street then the camera pans down to a small black blob following him.

If it was pg13 it would be hard to incorperate Carnage. Maybe do a story with the company that creates the other 5 symbiotes.

As I recall in the Spidey 3 movie wasn't the piece that was looked at under the microscope still left? They can do a spin off of that without ever really bringing Spidey 3 into it. It is just a thought. Then you wouldn't have to bring the whole origin of the symbiote again.

1. no, include the origin [and maybe colonel jupiter?
2. no topher, that was bad casting, even for the spidey franchise.
3. why not raimi? SM3 sucked cause studio heads pushed venom, requiring a rushed rewrite.
4. no but set him up for a possible sequel, the way SM3 shouldve set up venom for SM4. [the church bell tower scene shouldve been the last scene of the movie]
5. little more violent than spiderman, with more adult themes, pushing it to MA. making it a gore fest will give it a cheap horror flick feel

I LOVE VENOM!!..hes my fav villian..and i think it would be great to c a movie of him

1.no..ignore spiderman 3...seriously..the way it happened wuz stupid

2.no..someone new!..i also can kind of see vin diesel as venom...idk why tho..

3.i dnt care bout the directer...jus make it good

4.yes..i think carnage should appear about half way into the movie..that would be cool

i also think spiderman should appear in this movie BEFORE carnage does!...u cant have a venom movie without including his hatred of spiderman...and tobey maguire should play spiderman in this

spiderman 3 sucked because there was no o.g. goblin.venom is connected to each web he casts and i did not see the venom webs destroyed. sam rami is a genuis and did a great job. i do not expect any one else to give venom such a good hollywood make over.
1 anything is possible 2 some one 300 pounds
3 war zone was x-a-lint 4 carnage the coward, why not
5 a gore fest of symbiot blood.
